Hello Hoppers! Today I find myself in Basel, located on the Rhine River near the borders of France and Germany. Basel is the third most populated city in Switzerland and visited primarily for its urban attractions, such as museums and shopping. It is the culture capital of Switzerland, having the country's highest concentration of museums, nearly 30! Basel is also a major industrial center for the chemical and pharmaceutical industry. Although Basel is German-speaking, well, Swiss German, which is a little different, French is also spoken. SUBSCRIBE at http://www.youtube.com/user/muchohop Thanks for watching Hoppers. Basel in Switzerland is a beautiful city, perfect for exploring during the winter as it is a cosy city with a special magic during the festive season with wonderful Christmas Markets. However it also has charm all year around. It is perfect for a romantic gateway or even a short family break. Basel is a paradise for museum lovers too. Now the Pikachu monsters are coming for you - that's the idea behind a video aimed at drawing tourists to the Swiss city of Basel. The video has had nearly 65m views on Facebook. Basel Tourism teamed up with marketing agency Fadeout to present a "reverse" Pokemon Go. Now people are the ones being hunted in a twist on the global gaming craze. Targeting young people, Basel Tourism told the BBC the video was showing off the city's attractions, such as "the beautiful Old Town, the river Rhine and its bridges".

I visit Basel on the first week-end of its mythical Christmas Market. It's such a magical experience that I shared with locals around the city. I also have a very tasty lunch at Kunsthalle, followed by a walking tour around town. The next day, I climbed up to the roof of the Minster to enjoy the best view around town and I visited the Kunstmuseum. Art. Culture. History. Food. Luxury. The Rhine River. Basel has a lot going on and I had limited time to see it so I took in the highlights as fast as I could. My homebase was the Hotel Nomad, a trendy boutique with easy access to top sites like the Altstadt, or old city, the Marktplatz which has a farmer's market, Johann Wanner Christmas shop, the Kunstmuseum Basel, Fondation Beyeler and the Rhine River. We took river ferries to cross to Klein Basel, a funky neighborhood with a lot of great shops, cafes and of course, the notable Ueli Brewery. Check out this travel guide for how to see some of Basel's hotspots, in just 24 hours!

Basel is the third largest city in Switzerland and lies on the Rhine, close to the border to Germany and France. Between Grossbasel (the larger section of the city) and Kleinbasel (the smaler section of the city) are four Rhine ferries, which are often used by the tourists. Most of the sights are within walking distance, e.g. Café Spitz at the Mittlerer Brücke in Kleinbasel built by Swiss architect Amadeus Merian. The Lällenkönig stretched out his tongue at the end of the Middle Bridge. The Basler Münster with red sandstone, colorful bricks and pointed towers is the most famous landmark of the city. The Basel Autumn Fair, the largest and oldest amusement fair in Switzerland, is taking place from the October to November. Staying right in the center - the Motel One Basel is only 5 minutes ...
