7 women reveal the struggles of being single in their late 20s in India
Being single in your late twenties comes with its own set of perks. You don’t need to think twice before shifting your base or making instant travel plans. No wonder, it comes with an unmatchable sense of freedom and independence. But that is just one side of the coin. We got in touch with seven women and asked them about the struggles they had to face for being single in their late twenties in India. Here’s what they had to say…
“I am a professionally-successful woman and have no qualms for not being married or in a relationship. But my parents and relatives do not leave a single opportunity to remind me to get married as early as possible. They give me lectures about my ticking biological clock, and the importance of having my own family. Also, I have to constantly hear about how I am missing out on good guys because of my age. I wish they understood that one can lead a ‘happy’ life without getting married.”

“I do not feel like using social media nowadays. My feed is filled with either 100 photographs of my friends getting married or having babies. That’s quite irritating. In fact, I woke up to the news of my college friend having her second baby while browsing Facebook, and I was wondering how she managed all this at the age of 29. ”

“Being single in your late twenties can make you feel lonely sometimes. Most of my friends have got married and are busy with their families. Those who used to hang out with me on weekends, now prefer to spend time with their families. And there’s nothing wrong in it. I have eventually learnt to enjoy my own company.”

“Ah! I dread going to weddings now. Recently, my niece got married and everybody was asking me (or rather taunting) about my marriage plans. In fact, this happens every time I attend a marriage. I am tired of explaining that I am single by choice and have other priorities in life.”
