Maryland i/ˈmɛrᵻlənd/ is a state located in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States, bordering Virginia, West Virginia, and Washington, D.C. to its south and west; Pennsylvania to its north; and Delaware to its east. The state's largest city is Baltimore, and its capital is Annapolis. It has three occasionally used nicknames: the Old Line State, the Free State, and the Chesapeake Bay State.
One of the original Thirteen Colonies, Maryland is considered to be the birthplace of religious freedom in America, when it was formed in the early 17th century as an intended refuge for persecuted Catholics from England by George Calvert. George Calvert was the first Lord Baltimore and the first English proprietor of the then-Maryland colonial grant. Maryland was the seventh state to ratify the United States Constitution.
Maryland is one of the smallest states in terms of area, as well as one of the most densely populated states with nearly 6 million residents. With its close proximity to Washington, D.C., and a highly diversified economy spanning manufacturing, services, and biotechnology, Maryland has the highest median household income of any state.
A national championship(s) is the top achievement for any sport or contest within a league of a particular nation or nation state. The title is usually awarded by contests, ranking systems, stature, ability, etc. This determines the best team, individual (or other entity) in a particular nation and in a particular field. Often, the use of the term cup or championship is just a choice of words.
National may refer to:
National Harbor is a census-designated place along the Potomac River in Prince George's County, Maryland just south of Washington, D.C. near the Woodrow Wilson Bridge. It originated as a 300-acre (1.2 km2) multi-use waterfront development. The development was delineated as a census-designated place for the 2010 census, at which time its population was 3,788. It has been redeveloped since 2008.
The land developed for National Harbor was previously Salubria Plantation, built in 1827 by Dr. John H. Bayne. The plantation house burned down in 1981 and was offered for sale along with the surrounding land. The land was sold in 1984 and in 1994 was rezoned for mixed-use development. In the fall of 1997, the Maryland Department of the Environment and the Army Corps of Engineers approved new developer permits, granted for the PortAmerica project in 1997.
Phase one of National Harbor opened on April 1, 2008. The site is being developed by Milton Peterson's Peterson Companies, with the project expected to cost well over $2 billion, and a construction time frame of 2007 to late 2014. In addition to the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center, which opened on April 1, 2008, National Harbor contains five additional hotels, waterfront condos, offices, retail stores, nightspots, a marina, and a new location for the National Children's Museum, whose first phase opened in December 2012. The museum permanently closed in early January 2015, after having announced that it would relocate back to Washington, D.C. An outlet shopping center opened at National Harbor in November 2013.
The Ohio State University, commonly referred to as Ohio State or OSU, is a public research university in Columbus, Ohio. Founded in 1870, as a land-grant university and ninth university in Ohio with the Morrill Act of 1862, the university was originally known as the Ohio Agricultural and Mechanical College. The college began with a focus on training students in various agricultural and mechanical disciplines but was developed into a comprehensive university under the direction of Governor Rutherford B. Hayes and in 1878 the Ohio General Assembly passed a law changing the name to "The Ohio State University". It has since grown into the third largest university campus in the United States. Along with its main campus in Columbus, Ohio State also operates a regional campus system with regional campuses in Lima, Mansfield, Marion, Newark, and Wooster.
The university is also home to an extensive student life program, with over 1,000 student organizations; intercollegiate, club and recreational sports programs; student media organizations and publications, fraternities and sororities; and three active student governments. Ohio State athletic teams compete in Division I (Football Bowl Subdivision for football) of the NCAA and are known as the Ohio State Buckeyes. The university is a member of the Big Ten Conference for the majority of sports. The Ohio State Buckeyes men's ice hockey program competes in the Big Ten Conference, while its women's hockey program competes in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association. In addition, the OSU men's volleyball team is a member of the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA). OSU is one of only fourteen universities in the nation that plays Division I FBS football and Division I ice hockey. Alumni and former students have gone on to prominent careers in government, business, science, medicine, education, sports, and entertainment.

The Terrapins??? road to becoming national champs was tough to say the least, as it included wins over five national championship programs -- Wisconsin, Kentucky, Connecticut, Kansas and Indiana. Dixon was later named the tournament's most outstanding while Maryland coach Gary Williams became the first alumnus to coach his school to the national title since 1974.

Watch in HD!! This video was taken in July 2012 in Baltimore, Maryland. The Baltimore Aquarium was very crowded the day we were there. This aquarium has 5 floors all filled with tanks and aquariums with different species of sea life. On the bottom floor they offer a large tank filled with sea turtles and sting rays and on the 4th floor they have a walk around ramp that takes you back down to the bottom floor but the ramp surrounds a very large aquarium that was very unique and interesting. It was fun day. The overall highlight of the Aquarium for me, was the Dolphins. They put on a short dolphin show a few times a day. We were able to catch the last show. They also have an underwater viewing area of the dolphin tank. I didn't film the whole dolphin show. This is just the first few minutes...

This is a film of the activities and split operations of the Maryland Air Guards 104th Fighter Squadron and 135 Air Resupply Group operating at Harbor Field and Friend ship Airport in 1957. The year 1957 for the Maryland Air National Guard at a critical time in it's history. It's post war home was Harbor Field on the Patapsco River in Baltimore County, Maryland but with the largest runway only 4,440' it was to short for jet aircraft of the era. The unit therefore worked out temporary accommodations at Friendship Airport (now Baltimore-Washington, Thurgood Marshall Airport, BWI) for it's F-86Es and T-33s while keeping it's propeller driven SA-16s and C-46s at Harbor Field. The Guard was in desperate need of a permanent home with a runway long enough for jets and was close to be deactiv...

My first crossover video! Maryland history combined with an odyssey! We'll explore the Maryland's portion of the historic National Pike; a road often taken for granted due to the more famous Route 66. The latter was a great 1960s TV series, but the Pike is more historic-and older. The significance? The Pike is the only road in history having been planned and built by the feds. Except for short road stretches in national parks the Pike is the only road paid for entirely by the government. Technically beginning in Cumberland and going west from there, it's the Pike that started the east-west population migration. But-business folks in Baltimore didn't wanna be left out, so Baltimore banks got together and pitched in for a connecting route to the start of the Pike in Cumberland, and the re...
