The Philippines (i/ˈfɪlᵻpiːnz/; Filipino: Pilipinas [ˌpɪlɪˈpinɐs]), officially known as the Republic of the Philippines (Filipino: Republika ng Pilipinas), is a sovereign island country in Southeast Asia situated in the western Pacific Ocean. It consists of about 7,500 islands that are categorized broadly under three main geographical divisions: Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. The capital city of the Philippines is Manila and the most populous city is Quezon City; both are part of Metro Manila.
To the north of the Philippines across the Luzon Strait lies Taiwan; Vietnam sits west across the South China Sea; southwest lies Malaysia in the island of Borneo across the Sulu Sea, and to the south the Celebes Sea separates it from other islands of Indonesia; while to the east it is bounded by the Philippine Sea and the island-nation of Palau. Its location on the Pacific Ring of Fire and close to the equator makes the Philippines prone to earthquakes and typhoons, but also endows it with abundant natural resources and some of the world's greatest biodiversity. At approximately 300,000 square kilometers (115,831 sq mi), the Philippines is the 72nd-largest country in the world.
Philippine cuisine (Filipino: Lutuing Pilipino or Pagkaing Pilipino) consists of the food, preparation methods, and eating customs found in the Philippines. The style of cooking and the food associated with it have evolved over many centuries from their Austronesian origins to a mixed cuisine of Malay, Indian, Spanish, Chinese, and American, as well as other Asian Indian cuisine adapted to indigenous ingredients and the local palate.
Dishes range from the very simple, like a meal of fried salted fish and rice, to the elaborate paellas and cocidos created for fiestas of Spanish origin. Popular dishes include: lechón (whole roasted pig), longganisa (Philippine sausage), tapa (cured beef), torta (omelette), adobo (chicken and/or pork braised in garlic, vinegar, oil and soy sauce, or cooked until dry), kaldereta (meat in tomato sauce stew), mechado (larded beef in soy and tomato sauce), puchero (beef in bananas and tomato sauce), afritada (chicken and/or pork simmered in a tomato sauce with vegetables), kare-kare (oxtail and vegetables cooked in peanut sauce), pinakbet (kabocha squash, eggplant, beans, okra, and tomato stew flavored with shrimp paste), crispy pata (deep-fried pig's leg), hamonado (pork sweetened in pineapple sauce), sinigang (meat or seafood in sour broth), pancit (noodles), and lumpia (fresh or fried spring rolls).

A short movie about Metro Manila. Showing the historical area of Intramuros with Fort Santiago and Baluarte de San Diego. The new and modern part Makati and some footage from Tagaytay which is an hour drive from Manila.
My 1st night in Manila, The Philippines i decided to go and check-out the Red Light District. P Burgos Street is in Makati City, Manila. Burgos Street is the heart of the Philippines Nightlife scene right here in Makati. There are some top quality girls to be found in some of the agogo bars but from all my inquiry's they are expensive. The nightlife scene here in Burgos Street, Manila is much smaller than i imagined. I visited in August which is low season. I am told it gets much busier during November and December. I spent all my night inside Horizon Gentleman's VIP Lounge. Thanks for making me feel so welcome on my 1st night in The Philippines. I live in metro Manila, Philippines. The city has a bad reputation, much of it well-earned but it is still the place to be if you are in the Philippines. In this video, I wander around an older part of Manila and have a very interesting time.
Not knowing very much about the Philippines before I visited, I was pleasantly surprised by Manila and Subic and how they both reminded me of America. Graphika Manila is the premiere design conference in the Philippines. The international speakers for this year were Jessica Hische, Ash Thorp, The Mill, Dvein & Sara Blake, along with local speaker Isabel Gatuslao. We were asked to work on the branding for this year's event. We started with the idea of gods coming down to connect with its people, and from this basic idea it all spun out to notions of dissecting gods and figuring out what makes them breathe. We used a design aesthetic that fuses Pinoy ethnic culture and abstract ethereal forms. Graphika Manila is the premiere multimedia and graphic design event in the Philippines. This year they brought in international speakers Gmunk, Psyop, Droga5, Hydro74 & Jerome Austria. We were asked by Plus63, the studio behind the branding for this year's event, to collaborate on the opening titles. Inspired by the brilliant concept of the poster that they designed, a massive black hole sucking everything around it, we presented to them a concept that plays on that which they have started. We wanted to create a story of how that black hole came to be. This meant the Big Bang, the expansion of the universe, the creation of the star systems, the Big Freeze, the Big Crunch, and the eventual collapse of everything into the ancient black hole at the center of the universe. We created all th...

A brief documentary about Manila, the capital city of the Philippines. Every year, more than 5.5 million tourists take their vacations in the Philippines, and often Manila is their very first stop. Nearly 16 million people live in the Metro Manila area, which is made up of many smaller cities, including Makati, Pasay, Pasig, Paranaque, Mandaluyong, Quezon City, and more. Manila is where big business takes place, where major investments are made, and where residential and commercial real estate is never-ending. Many tourists enjoy the malls, the restaurants, the museums, the nightlife, and even the beautiful Manila Bay. Probably, the biggest tourist attraction is the SM Mall of Asia - the 3rd largest mall in the world. For more details about Manila or the Philippines in general, visit ...
Visiting the Philippines has always been on the list of places I wanted to go and since I was back in Asia during the whale shark season, I decided to take the opportunity and traveled to the Philippines for 2 weeks. My plan was to spend the first week exploring the volcano part of the Philippines and last week in the islands. I had my friend to show me in and around Manila, getting to see the part of the city the western media doesn't show. I went and hiked to Mt Pinatubo lake and Lake Taal with my good friend April from Tripkada, explore the most symmetrical volcano in the world, Mayon Volcano in Legazpi, swim with whale sharks the right way in Donsol (not as disruptive as in Oslob), ride a motorbike around Bohol and jumped on a boat and cruise around the beautiful Palawan. 3,252 pesos can bring you to a place above the cloud full of mysteries. Wanna know how? Here it goes! -How to get there from Manila? Take a bus that can bring you to Baguio. Leave Manila around 4 to 5 am so you can be at Baguio around 11am. I prefer taking Victory Liner because their buses depart every hour from their terminals in Manila, Cubao, Caloocan, and Pasay. Buses get full, especially during peak season. So be sure to reserve your ticket a day before your scheduled departure to guarantee yourself a seat. When you arrive at Baguio take a taxi going to GL/Lizardo Trans Station at Dangwa Terminal and ride a bus going to Botoc! From Baguio to Bontoc, it is a 5 to 6 hour journey. Take the 12:30pm or 1:30pm bus to Bontoc so you’ll catch the beautiful combination of colors in the sky ...

It's another backpacker's trip (maybe when we're older we'd travel more luxuriously) and we visit Philippines northernmost tip of land - Ilocos. It was a short four day adventure - mostly of beaches and falls. We loved the natural Kabigan falls the best, proved to be a very refreshing dip after a scorching day in the sun. We don't see much clear waters in our Manila rivers nowadays but the tributaries from the falls were pristine enough it was potable. Pagudbud beach, we love to return here. Quieter than Boracay but has that similar quintessential beach vibe. We prefer solitude now, not so much for parties and night outs. Again as our travel adventures dictate: we don't plan on anything. Literally drove to whichever terminal that has a destination for either Vigan or Laoag on the night (...
