1980 (MCMLXXX) was a leap year starting on Tuesday (dominical letter FE) of the Gregorian calendar, the 1980th year of the Common Era (CE) and Anno Domini (AD) designations, the 980th year of the 2nd millennium, the 80th year of the 20th century, and the 1st year of the 1980s decade.
Guiding Light (known as The Guiding Light before 1975) is an American television soap opera that is listed in Guinness World Records as the longest-running drama in television in American history, broadcast on CBS for 57 years from June 30, 1952 until September 18, 2009, preceded by a 15-year broadcast on radio.Guiding Light is the longest running soap opera and the fifth longest running program in all of broadcast history; only the American country music radio program Grand Ole Opry (first broadcast in 1925), the BBC religious program The Daily Service (1928), the CBS religious program Music and the Spoken Word (1929), and the Norwegian children's radio program Lørdagsbarnetimen (first aired in 1924, cancelled in 2010) have been on the air longer.
Guiding Light was created by Irna Phillips, and began as an NBC Radio serial on January 25, 1937. On June 2, 1947, the series was transferred to CBS Radio, before starting on June 30, 1952, on CBS Television. It continued to be broadcast concomitantly on radio until June 29, 1956. The series was expanded from 15 minutes to a half-hour during 1968, and then to a full hour on November 7, 1977. The series broadcast its 15,000th CBS episode on September 6, 2006.
Manhar Udhas is a Hindi and Gujarati language singer and Bollywood Playback singer.
Manhar Udhas is the elder brother of singers Pankaj Udhas and Nirmal Udhas. He completed his mechanical engineering training in Gujarat and moved to Mumbai in the late 1960s to look for a job. He was interested in music since childhood. His brother-in-law, who was making Gujarati film in Mumbai, introduced him to Music Director Kalyanji Anandji. Udhas used to hang around Kalyanji Anandji to help them in song recording. Once singer Mukesh was not immediately available. So it was decided to dub song in the voice of Udhas and later on Mukesh would sing over it. The song was 'aap se hum ko bichchade huye ek zamana beet gaya' for 1969 film 'Vishwas'. When Mukesh heard the song he said that Udhas has sung the song perfectly and there was no need to record the song in his voice. The song became a hit. It proved to be turning point in his career.
Manhar has worked with many composers of the film world and has lent his voice to many Bollywood heroes. He has sung for more than 300 films - Gujarati, Hindi, Punjabi, Bengali and many others. He, like his brother Pankaj, is well known for singing Ghazals. He has released 30 albums (last one, "Aashirwad", launched in Australia November 2013). He has also worked with Pankaj on albums and Live Shows. His 31st album Alankar was released at VadFest on 18-Jan-2015 at Vadodara.

The change from March 25 – Lady Day, one of the four quarter days – to January 1 took place in Scotland in 1600, before the ascension of James VI of Scotland to the throne of England in 1603 and well before the formation of the Kingdom of Great Britain in 1707. In England and Wales (and in all British dominions, including Britain's American colonies), 1751 began on March 25 and lasted 282 days, and 1752 began on January 1. Plot: In 1977, Caroline Séguier, Matt Ribero, Abel Karnonski, Laure De Cigy and her brother Louis pass their oral entry exam to the ENA (Ecole Nationale d'Administration) and proudly find themselves studying in France's most prestigious school. Caroline, beautiful, hard-working, annoying and seductive, is a staunch supporter of François Mitterrand and is determined to succeed. Matt, a supporter of Michel Rocard comes from a family of steel workers in Lorraine and is proud to be the first in his family to escape his social status. Abel, a righteous young idealistic altruist, is the only one of the group already working (as a lawyer) and to have a wife and child (a little girl), whereas Laure and Louis come from a long line of aristocrats used to serving the State. The president and the government of France have been part of the right-wing party for more than twenty years and the students of the "Voltaire promotion" swear to themselves that they'll internally change a system they deem unfair and obsolete, starting with the man running their school... Determined to change the world, their arrival at the ENA marks the beginning of their political hopes and dreams. Abel wants to influence the way things go at the highest level of French administration. Caroline can't stand the system's unfair nature. Laure thinks that François Mitterand's election will restore the social balance. But their years spent at the ENA, during which victories and disillusions follow each other, confront them to the spirit of competition, to their personal ambition, to the system's injustice, and are just a rehearsal for what awaits them once they've graduated in 1980: the first round in a savage struggle for power. Hardened by their first experiences in the field, in embassies and police headquarters in Corsica and Africa, some learn how to use every weapon at their disposal. Others, constantly torn between their childhood dreams and their new responsibilities, struggle to embark on the path of compromise. For History does not wait. Called to the front lines a year later and propelled, thanks to François Mitterrand's victory, into the arcane mysteries of the State, these young "énarques" will be asked to make choices on which their careers, and France's future, will equally depend.

After this was recorded, Poland announced they would abolish martial law, coincidentally, on New Year's Day, 1983. This was U2's first UK Top 10 and their first single to chart in America. It goes into much detail over the events on those 6 days. I have had to re-upload this video removing a small portion of 40 seconds video due a copyright dispute. This happens at 1:25:53. You do not miss anything apart from news footage on the day. I have also had to remove some audio segments (2 of them) due to another copyright complaint.
