Perth resident 'hid in room, called police' during terrifying home invasion

Two men have been arrested in relation to an alleged home invasion after a resident heard the pair breaking in and hid in a back room as they called police.

The break-in allegedly occurred on Pangolin Grove in Alkimos around 6pm on Saturday.

A police spokesman said the occupant of the house was alerted to the burglary after hearing one of the men attempt to enter the home by kicking in a door.

"This was unsuccessful so he removed a glass window pane and two men entered the address via the window," he said.

"An occupant, who was inside the house at the time, was able to ring police from a rear room.

"The men searched rooms inside the house and a number of items were taken and placed in a vehicle parked outside.

"Police attended a short time later and arrested three men in the vicinity."

A 36-year-old man of no fixed address and a 43-year-old man from Pearsall have been charged with aggravated burglary and stealing.

Both are due to appear in Perth Magistrate's Court on Sunday.

A third person has been released, pending further enquiries.
