From Free Jeremy!

It’s been almost a year since we’ve had new pictures of Jeremy, but, as they say, good things come to those who wait!

As always, photos of Jeremy are a rare treat. As you can see, Jeremy is looking strong and healthy, posing with comrades from Manchester FCI. I’ve spoken with numerous people who have served time with Jeremy, both in New York and in Manchester, and they assure me that Jeremy is well-liked by his fellow inmates. Jeremy himself tells me that he is doing well, that there is no “news” to speak of, really, and that he appreciates the letters, books, and articles that people send him.

From The Bread Book

In 1892, an exiled Prince from Russia named Peter Kropotkin published a book titled The Conquest of Bread. In that text, Kropotkin outlined a vision for a free society that allows everyone to have access to food, shelter, clothing, and luxury. In essence, the book is an outline for a world without poverty or repression. This site is a place for Kropotkin’s ideas to be shared! In addition to hosting the entirety of The Conquest of Bread, we give you a short introduction of his ideas and why they are still relevant, as well as some resources to spread this knowledge and help out your community.

From IGD

In the last several weeks, the Trump Administration has pushed for both a tax cut on the wealthy as well as an increasingly unpopular health care plan. Now, after a series of blunders, calls for impeachment in both corporate parties are growing. Wanting to know more about what this means for the rest of us, we caught up with Peter Gelderloos to try and make sense of it all.

IGD: Several days ago, Trump fired the FBI director, James Comey. What led to his firing and the Trump administration decision to do so? What are the broader implications of his dismissal?

Introduction to a book by anarchists from Aleppo

The following discussion seeks to reflect the current situation of Syrian individuals who are trying as hard as they can to free themselves from patterns of collective hypocrisy and over-optimistic thinking. Our experiment was still just newly born when it developed the problem of being unable to clearly distinguish the latent authoritarian power in society and in the state, to draw back the curtains that have concealed it. At the start of the revolution, in small gatherings of friends, we predicted that if the struggle lasted longer than a month, then the country would descend into civil war – this wasn't just an intellectual exercise, as it's our current reality.

Topic of the Week: Responses to Intimate Violence

  • Posted on: 15 May 2017
  • By: thecollective

Intimate violence is something that occurs within any community, and among anarchists in general there has been a long running attempt to define and resolve it in a way that is supposed to reflect our politics. Tools such as call-outs and accountability processes were adopted and developed with the intent of countering a culture in which intimate violence is denied, hidden, or thrown back at the person claiming to have been wronged.
