Sex education for young children has become essential at a time when they have easy access to porn on the Internet that could lead them down the wrong alleys.

Many parents search for information about what to teach their children about the birds and the bees.

According to the Korea Youth Sexuality Culture Center, which has offered a sex education program for kids since 2007, the number of children who took the program rose from 139,941 in 2014 to 191,403 in 2017.

They are taught how to defend themselves against sexual assault and what behaviors make others uncomfortable.

There are even musicals that teach children about sex. One that premiered in 2008 takes them on an imaginary journey of their parents' bodies with a sperm and is still playing to packed 400-600-seater venues.

Children's sex-education books are circulating among parents, and videos are also popular.

The Education Ministry has produced books and videos for children that can be used even in kindergartens so they can get sex education for at least eight hours a year.
