Plot: Satyadev Singh lives with his wife, Ganga, and two sons, Sham and Ghansham, and their family leads a fairly comfortable life. Things turn for the worse for them when a new corrupt Collector named Bhim Singh enters their region. Satyadev is killed, and Ganga has to flee with her children away from this region, and from Bhim Singh. Years later, Sham and Ghansham have grown up and would like to avenge their father's death. Their quest takes them to Collector Bhim Singh and his men, who are ready to let history repeat itself, by killing the sons of Satyadev Singh.

Plot: Chandan (Mithun Chakraborty), his mom (Dina Pathak) and sister Sona live in a small village. Clean shaven Chandan earns his living driving a horse driven carriage. His lady love is the beautiful Roopa (Rati Agnihotri). Roopa also has other admirers, like Bhola (Jagdeep), who will go to any extent to win her heart. On the other hand is Trishul Singh, (also Mithun) who is a dacait with a prominent moustache, out to loot and kill for the sake of money. Unknowingly he also loots the house of his mother (Dina Pathak), and he does not know that he has a twin brother in Chandan. He frequents the house of dancer Kamobai (Surinder Kaur). One day he comes across a seriously injured Chandan and is shocked to see the resemblance. He quickly takes advantage and assumes Chandan's identity, taking Chandan to be dead, he goes to live with Sona and Chandan's mom. He hopes that the police inspector assigned to his case (Viju Khote) will conclude that Trishul Singh is dead when they find Chandan's body. In this way he hopes to elude the police and start anew. But his plans are foiled as Chandan is still alive and mistaken by his gang of dacaits as Trishul Singh. But Chandan is timid and not cut out to be a cutthroat like his twin, and it will not be long before the gang finds out that something is wrong, or may possibly take advantage of Chandan's good-nature for their own greed and gain.

Plot: Shyam Sunder lives a wealthy lifestyle in a small village in India along with his widowed step-mother, Nirmala. He has taken to alcohol, and womanizing, goes away very often without informing anyone, and frequently asks Nirmala for money. One day Lucky informs Nirmala that he has seen Shyam's dead body. She summons the Police, who arrive but find the dead carcass of a bear, and eventually decide that Shyam may have gone to Goa without informing Nirmala. Subsequently a young man named Prakash, who claims he is the son of Lucknow-based Tehsildar Somshekhar, arrives there, meets with Nirmala, informs her that he is Shyam's friend and business partner, and a author by profession. She permits him to live in her spacious house, but subsequently asks him to move to the guest house. Prakash meets and falls in love with Roopa, who lives a middle-class lifestyle with her widowed mother, Radha, and servant, Gopal. Soon Roopa also falls in love with him and introduces him to her mom, who approves of him. Prakash will soon find out that all is not well when he comes across a framed photograph of Roopa in the company of a young man, and yet another photograph with the same man, as well as a child in Roopa's arms. Then he is told about an abandoned house that has a ghastly secret. Prakash must now find out who the man in the photograph is, whether Roopa is a mother of the child in the photograph as well as the secret of the abandoned house, and the reason why Shyam is still missing. While he sets about to do this, he does not know he is under the scrutiny of several people in this quiet village - and at least one of them is ready to kill him.

Plot: In the state of Madhya Pradesh, India, particularly in the Chambal Ravine there are abundance of bandit gangs, chiefly consisting of Brahmans and Thakurs, both carrying on their age-old rivalry and hatred for each other from generation to generation. Our story revolves around Brahman Pandit Tulsiram who betrays Thakur Bahadur Singh to the police, and as a result Bahadur is sentenced to be hanged. Widowed, pregnant and devastated, Bahadur's wife swears that she will raise her child to hunt down and kill Tulsiram at any cost. She gives birth to a son, names him Lakhan, and lets the bandits teach their way of life. As soon as Lakhan grows up, he kills Tulsiram. Hearing of his father's death, army-man, Roopa, resigns and openly swears to kill Lakhan. Unknown to both of them, a beautiful young woman named Sona enters their lives, making them wish that they were living a honest life instead, and both fall head over heels in love with her. Both are on the verge of changing their lives when they find out that the other also has fallen in love for Sona, and they return back to their bitter oaths - kill or be killed.

Plot: Disciplinarian Shanti Swaroop (Ashok Kumar) alienates himself from his wife Urmilla (Indrani Mukherjee); son, Ravi (Sunil Dutt), and daughter, Roopa (Yogeeta Bali). His wife passes away, and he marries another woman, Maya (also Indrani Mukherjee), who looks like his wife. Maya has an on-going affair with Heeralal "Heera" (Ramesh Deo) unknown to Shanti Swaroop. A fall from a staircase makes Shanti Swaroop lose his eyesight, and makes him totally dependent on his wife, and a nurse, Kalpana (Rekha). Blinded and unable to see reason clearly, he refuses to let his daughter marry Ram (Sharad) as he is poor; and asks Ravi to leave his house, when Ravi speaks out against Heera and Maya, thus leaving the ground wide open for them to attempt to initially permanently blind him, and then blame the nurse for this negligence.

Plot: Amar Kumar is an eligible young man, and his parents feel that he should get married. They introduce him to Bishambernath, his wife, and their daughter, Roopa. Amar also gets to meet Roopa's cousin, Shobha, who is treated like a servant in their house, and is attracted to her. When Roopa finds out that Amar is showing an interest in Shobha, she physically slaps and beats Shobha senseless. Shobha, afraid of another beating from Roopa, keeps away from Amar. Amar has to go abroad for two or three years. He choses not to make any commitment as to marriage until his return. Shortly after he leaves, Roopa and her mom beat up poor Shobha again and have her thrown out. She relates this story to Amar's parents', who feel sorry for her and allow her to live at their house. Things take a turn for the worse for Shobha, when Amar's mom finds out from Roopa's mom, that Shobha had been asked to leave as she is pregnant, with the identity of the father unknown.

Plot: Thakur Narendrapal Singh (Nazir Hussain) is a generous and kind-hearted landlord and zamindar. He has a daughter Kalpana (Jamuna) and a son Raja(Deven Verma). Distrusting his son and his new wife, Roopa (Ameeta), he asks a village laborer, Sunder (Raaj Kumar) who is honest, loyal and hardworking, to marry his daughter. In this manner, Sunder and Kalpana get married, and soon Kalpana gives birth to a daughter (Baby Shakila). Tragically Kalpana passes away, and the Thakur, Sunder, and the child are devastated. The Thakur asks Sunder to get married to Savitri (Nutan), who is the daughter of his childhood friend, the local Collector (David). He hopes that in this manner the child will get the love of a mother. Sunder reluctantly agrees, and soon Savitri and he get married. Savitri is unable to win the love of the child nor does she get any affection from Sunder, as he is unable to get Kalpana out of his mind and thoughts. In the meantime, Roopa's dad (Jeevan) is plotting the death of Sunder, so that his daughter can take over the wealth of the Thakur after his death.

Plot: A psychodrama condemning the divorce law as iniquitous to Hinduism. Roopa (Banu), wife of politician Niranjan (Yagnik), leaves her husband to fight for more progressive divorce laws. She is helped for exploitative reasons by Chhabilelal (Jagirdar), the editor of the radical journal 'Aandhi'. Roopa gets her divorce but is disillusioned by her legal achievement when Amarnath (Adib), whom she marries, uses the same law against her. Niranjan rescues and falls in love with the married Shanta (Sheela); since he does not approve of the divorce law, they cannot marry.
