And in the Big News Today from a Faith Perspective, it's both Ash Wednesday and St Valentine's Day. Ash, ash, ash, ash, Valentine, ash, Valentine...And that is the Big News Today from a Faith Perspective

What role should the Church play in the state? Well clearly it should be a central partner, entrusted with funds and responsibilities for areas such as human trafficking, and generally allowed to poke its nose in and feel important wherever it feels like it. This is so obvious that there is no need for anyone to debate me on this, and so that is the end of any discussion on the matter. Three minutes of prime airtime well spent I would say.Isn't the Pope just fantastic?

And in the Big News Today from a Faith Perspective, yesterday was an anniversary of something. Coincidentally, anniversaries are exactly what I was going to talk about, so that was a bit of luck, eh?Listen/Read
OK, I'm sceptical about Elon Musk's project to colonise Mars but even my jaw dropped when I saw this.
As if that wasn't surreal enough, Musk's Falcon Heavy rocket launched a Tesla Roadster, with a dummy astronaut called Starman in the driving seat, into orbit. The dashboard computer says "Don't Panic" and there's an extract from Asimov's Foundation series in the glovebox.
Whatever you think of Elon Musk, he's a born showman.

Jesus says "Votes for women!"The church, as always, remains at the forefront of women's rights. After only 2,000 years we even have women bishops and absolutely every Christian thinks that's just great. Thank goodness for the suffragettes and the Church.
And now I have to rush off and mumble some incantations over the Speaker of the House of Commons, otherwise he won't be working properly today.
