Gender Equality Photography Competition 2018
Empowering women and making gender equality a reality is a core commitment of UNDP. In every country across Asia and the Pacific, pervasive gender inequality remains a barrier to progress, justice and social stability. At UNDP, achieving gender equality is a human rights priority and a development imperative. UNDP recognizes that women’s empowerment and gender equality are cross-cutting issues that lie at the heart of human development.
UNDP in Asia and the Pacific supports regional and national efforts to integrate gender equality and women’s empowerment. UNDP is committed to strengthening the capacity of their national partners in Asia and the Pacific to adopt approaches that advance women’s rights and take full account of the many ways women contribute to development. UNDP strives to ensure that women have increased economic control, strengthened political voice and enhanced legal rights.
The UNDP Asia Pacific Gender Equality team are launching a new photography competition to promote International Women’s Day on the 8th March 2018.
The theme is Asia Pacific Women and Men Working Together.

(ii) One 250-word paragraph written in English, stating why you believe your photograph fits this year’s theme
(iii) The following information: Name, Country of Origin, contact email address, and link to online portfolio (optional).
Entries to be submitted to UNDPasiapac@gmail.com with the message subject line ‘Gender Equality Photo Competition’ by 25 February 2018.
This theme this year hopes to highlight the importance of women and men in the Asia Pacific areas working in a harmonious, gender-equitable way. Photographers may interpret the theme in their own way, but the image must feature both men and women. The top 5 photographs shortlisted will receive a certificate of recognition and global exposure via the UNDP Asia Pacific website, social media channels (collectively over 44,000 followers), and UNDP Gender Equality Dispatch newsletter which is circulated world-wide across UNDP regional offices.
