The Independent Record's Newspaper In Education (NIE) program is designed to provide newspapers to area teachers and schools and the opportunity to share this free service with their students. The newspaper is a daily, up-to-date textbook of information about their community and the world around them. Teachers use the Independent Record to teach current events, math, reading, science, business and much more.
The Newspaper in Education programs have a measurable and positive impact on schools and children that utilize the newspaper in the classroom.
NIE in your Community
The NIE program is available to all Central and Southwest Montana schools that may be interested. We deliver papers as far away as Augusta, Wolf Creek, Three Forks, Townsend, Boulder, Lincoln, Marysville as well as Helena and other surrounding areas. We also provide papers from first grade through college.
Through our program, we provide teacher guides, worksheets and special tab publications during the school year. We conduct contests for kids like "Design an Ad" and "Scavenger Hunt," as well as provide Parade Magazine's poetry contests and links to other programs.
