Friends of the Earth has many collective run campaigns. We don't have e CEO to tell us where to campaign, but instead are guided by the energy in the community.
Please contact us if you are interested in finding out how you can get involved in any of the work detailed below or would like to start a collective with FoE.
Act On Climate
Act on Climate is a team of citizens who are concerned about climate change and want to take action on it at a grassroots level. We aim to advance policies that prevent climate change from getting worse and also helping build resilient communities who can adapt to the climate impacts that are already locked in.
Nuclear Free (ACE)
The Nuclear Free (ACE) collective are working in solidarity with Traditional Owners and alongside affected communities on uranium mining, nuclear reactors, radiation and health issues.
Economic Justice
The Economic Justice Collective calls on the Australian Government to stop including Investor State Dispute Settlement clauses into trade deals. These deals are contributing to a race to the bottom for environmental protections and further the neo-liberal agenda - which is the cause of so much of our environmental and social woes.
Forest Collective
FoE monitors biodiversity and companies involved in Victorian plantation forests, especially in the Strzelecki Ranges. FoE's Melbourne Forest Collective meets fortnightly and is focused on protecting Victoria's high conservation value native forests from logging. The collective meets every second Thursday and welcomes new members.
Quit Coal
Quit Coal is a collective that campaigns against the expansion of the coal and unconventional gas industries in Victoria.
The collective meets every Wednesday evening and welcomes new members - contact info@quitcoal.org.au
River Country
River Red Gums along the Murray river were protected in 2010 with the formation of the Barmah National Park. River Country is working with Traditional Owners to ensure that co-management agreements are funded and to ensure that the National Park is protected from logging and kept healthy with water flows.
Strzelecki Koala Action Team - SKAT
Victoria's Strzelecki Koala have much to contribute to the future management of koalas across Australia. Between 2014 and 2016 we have conducted koala surveys in over 150 locations.
Sustainable Cities
Sustainable Cities campaigns for a more liveable connected city. We want to see more investment in public transport, no new major roads, and encouraging active travel.
