The term Gallo-Roman describes the Romanized culture of Gaul under the rule of the Roman Empire. This was characterized by the Gaulish adoption or adaptation of Roman morals and way of life in a uniquely Gaulish context. The well-studied meld of cultures in Gaul gives historians a model against which to compare and contrast parallel developments of Romanization in other, less-studied Roman provinces.
Interpretatio romana offered Roman names for Gaulish deities such as the smith-god Gobannus, but of Celtic deities only the horse-patroness Epona penetrated Romanized cultures beyond the confines of Gaul.
The barbarian invasions beginning in the early fifth century forced upon Gallo-Roman culture fundamental changes in politics, in the economic underpinning, in military organization. The Gothic settlement of 418 offered a double loyalty, as Western Roman authority disintegrated at Rome. The plight of the highly Romanized governing class is examined by R.W. Mathisen, the struggles of bishop Hilary of Arles by M. Heinzelmann,
The Roman Empire (Latin: Imperium Rōmānum; Classical Latin: [ɪmˈpɛ.ri.ũː roːˈmaː.nũː] Ancient and Medieval Greek: Βασιλεία τῶν Ῥωμαίων, tr. Basileia tōn Rhōmaiōn) was the post-Roman Republic period of the ancient Roman civilization, characterized by government headed by emperors and large territorial holdings around the Mediterranean Sea in Europe, Africa and Asia. The extended city of Rome was the largest city in the world c. 100 BC – c. 400 AD, with Constantinople (New Rome) becoming the largest around 500 AD, and the Empire's populace grew to an estimated 50 to 90 million inhabitants (roughly 20% of the world's population at the time). The 500-year-old republic which preceded it was severely destabilized in a series of civil wars and political conflict, during which Julius Caesar was appointed as perpetual dictator and then assassinated in 44 BC. Civil wars and executions continued, culminating in the victory of Octavian, Caesar's adopted son, over Mark Antony and Cleopatra at the Battle of Actium in 31 BC and the annexation of Egypt. Octavian's power was now unassailable and in 27 BC the Roman Senate formally granted him overarching power and the new title Augustus, effectively marking the end of the Roman Republic.

The exercise however has many difficulties. Beyond the incomplete aspects of the available ...
The ancient Roman site was discovered in 1967, when a high school was being built on the bank of the Rhone, the archaeological site of Saint-Romain-en-Gal brought to life a precious residential and industrial district of ancient Vienne. Site was inhabited from the end of the 1st century B.C. and expanded rapidly. The economic rise of the Roman Empire allowed many merchants to build houses with peristyles; these urban domus bordered warehouses, shops and craftsmen's workshops. The collections of the museum include a remarkable set of mosaics and wall paintings originally from the excavations on site, including the Lion Mosaic, the painting of the Wrestler's Baths and the emblematic mosaic of the Ocean Gods.
The ground on which the Grote Kerk was built has been a sacred place for centuries. Before the Romans arrived, it served as an open-air place of worship for the Batavians. Then, in the name of civilisation, the Romans built a stone temple for the Batavians in the first half of the first century.

Je velmi těžké představovat někoho, kdo se svým mediálním know-how procestoval celý svět a výrazně ovlivňoval vývoj českého mediálního trhu. Zabralo by to možná celé hodiny.

The Mysteries Inside Chartres - Geographic History. Chartres was in Gaul one of the principal towns of the Carnutes, a Celtic tribe. In the Gallo-Roman period, it was called Autricum, name derived from the river Autura (Eure), and afterwards civitas Carnutum, "city of the Carnutes", from which Chartres got its name. The city was burned by the Normans in 858, and unsuccessfully besieged by them in 911. Read More: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chartres
