Chinese culture (simplified Chinese: 中国文化; traditional Chinese: 中國文化; pinyin: Zhōngguó wénhuà) is one of the world's oldest cultures, dating thousands of years old. The area in which the culture is dominant covers a large geographical region in eastern Asia with customs and traditions varying greatly between provinces, cities, and even towns as well. Important components of Chinese culture includes ceramics, architecture, music, literature, martial arts, cuisine, visual arts, philosophy and religion.
There are 56 officially recognized ethnic groups in China. In terms of numbers however, Han Chinese is by far the largest group. Throughout history, many groups have merged into neighboring ethnicities or disappeared. At the same time, many within the Han identity have maintained distinct linguistic and regional cultural traditions. The term Zhonghua Minzu has been used to describe the notion of Chinese nationalism in general. Much of the traditional identity within the community has to do with distinguishing the family name.
A society is a group of people involved in persistent social interaction, or a large social grouping sharing the same geographical or social territory, typically subject to the same political authority and dominant cultural expectations. Societies are characterized by patterns of relationships (social relations) between individuals who share a distinctive culture and institutions; a given society may be described as the sum total of such relationships among its constituent members. In the social sciences, a larger society often evinces stratification or dominance patterns in subgroups.
Insofar as it is collaborative, a society can enable its members to benefit in ways that would not otherwise be possible on an individual basis; both individual and social (common) benefits can thus be distinguished, or in many cases found to overlap.
A society can also consist of like-minded people governed by their own norms and values within a dominant, larger society. This is sometimes referred to as a subculture, a term used extensively within criminology.
Chinese can refer to:
China, officially the People's Republic of China (PRC), is a sovereign state in East Asia. It is the world's most populous country, with a population of over 1.35 billion. The PRC is a one-party state governed by the Communist Party, with its seat of government in the capital city of Beijing. It exercises jurisdiction over 22 provinces; five autonomous regions; four direct-controlled municipalities (Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai and Chongqing); two mostly self-governing special administrative regions (Hong Kong and Macau); and claims sovereignty over Taiwan.
Covering approximately 9.6 million square kilometers, China is the world's second-largest country by land area, and either the third or fourth-largest by total area, depending on the method of measurement. China's landscape is vast and diverse, ranging from forest steppes and the Gobi and Taklamakan deserts in the arid north to subtropical forests in the wetter south. The Himalaya, Karakoram, Pamir and Tian Shan mountain ranges separate China from South and Central Asia. The Yangtze and Yellow Rivers, the third- and sixth-longest in the world, run from the Tibetan Plateau to the densely populated eastern seaboard. China's coastline along the Pacific Ocean is 14,500 kilometres (9,000 mi) long, and is bounded by the Bohai, Yellow, East and South China Seas.
CBS This Morning is an American morning television program that is broadcast on CBS. The program, which shares its title with a more traditionally formatted morning program that aired on the network from 1987 to 1999, airs Monday through Saturdays from 7:00 to 9:00 a.m. in all time zones (airing live in the Eastern Time Zone and on tape-delay in the Central and Mountain Time Zones; stations in the Pacific Time Zone receive an updated feed with a specialized opening and updated live reports). It is the tenth distinct morning news-features program format that CBS has aired since 1954, having replaced The Early Show on January 9, 2012.
The weekday edition of the program is currently anchored by Charlie Rose, Gayle King and Norah O'Donnell. The program emphasizes general national and international news stories and in-depth reports throughout each edition, although it also includes live in-studio and pre-taped interviews. The format was chosen as an alternative to the soft news and lifestyle-driven formats of competitors Today and Good Morning America following the first hour or half-hour of those broadcasts, in an attempt to give the program a competitive edge with its hard news format (CBS has historically placed third in the ratings among the network morning shows).

Hi guys, this is Vivi. My mom got hit by a car today, and I didn't have many outlets to vent. I went to see her bloody body laying in the emergency room as doctors walked by. We have money, but we were in such a hurry to go to the hospital that we didn't bring any. So I had to go get money while she lay there bleeding. Something isn't right here. Also, no one helped. The woman who ran her over (my mom was a walking pedestrian) said that my mom jumped in front of her car. This is clearly not the case. All in all, it was a big day of disappointment in people and the way society acts towards people in need. Please subscribe, like, comment, and join me every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for a Vivivlog!

Gary, my Chinese American friend has finished his Months long Chinese trip to find his roots, and before flying back to the United States, took the time to sit down with me and discuss some of the things he liked about China and some of the things he disliked, he also gave a more formed opinion of China as he had now had enough time to make up his mind about what he really thought of China. Posters used by Zhejiang University on freshmen day mislead the students in finding their lovers. It has become a new fashion in China that female university students become someone's mistress. The public have become thoughtless on this issue. To study this phenomenon, scholars have pointed out that as Chinese society becomes completely commercialized, pursuing money is the only goal. The elite took advantage of this, leading them to use sex resources. The decline in attitudes towards love, morality, life and values reflects the society is decaying. Chinese media r...
China is always dealing with societal issues that they perceive as a threat. The government is now worried about the influence of Korean pop culture on it's boys. Korean society has put effeminate males into the main stream, and it has carried over to Chinese society. Now, the government has decided that it's own boys should not copy this effeminate trend. Chinese men will be men. But has China ever had a masculine culture? Will it's effort prove effective? We answer all of these questions and more in this video. You will never see a more botched performance caught on camera. The Chinese Association of Sweden put on a Chinese cultural arts festival that was a pretty huge disaster. Some of the worst singing, kung fu, and dance you'll see in a long time was passed off as traditional Chinese culture. The whole world is fascinated by Chinese culture, but what exactly is traditional Chinese culture? It might not be so easy to find an answer. For decades, the Chinese Communist Party has systematically wiped out 5,000 years of Chinese history and civilization. Temples were destroyed, books were burned, and Masters were forbidden from passing down their crafts. The Book of Changes says, "things perceivable and tangible are containers; things invisible and intangible are Tao." So while you can go to China, ...

Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, said Wednesday that the principal contradiction facing Chinese society has evolved, as socialism with Chinese characteristics enters a new era. "What we now face is the contradiction between unbalanced and inadequate development and the people's ever-growing needs for a better life," he said in a report unveiled at the opening of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. What NASA (through its Apollo Project) actually discovered on the Moon, beginning just seven years later, has now been resoundingly confirmed (if not yet "officially" announced ...) by the Chinese "Chang'e-3" unmanned lunar landing mission-- A stunning validation of not only the ultimate reality of "the Apollo Program" itself (against all those who have claimed, against overwhelming evidence, that "it never really happened ...") -- but what the Apollo astronauts actually found ... all those years ago -- which NASA then inexplicably, but relentlessly, suppressed: The still-glistening, crystalline remains of "an extraordinarily ancient, Type II lunar civilization." Now, the Chinese government -- almost a half-century after the American astronauts first quietly recorded them -- has just as ...

Du Yuesheng (22 August 1888 – 16 August 1951), nicknamed "Big-Eared Du", was a Chinese mob boss who spent much of his life in Shanghai. He was a key supporter of Chiang Kai-shek and the Kuomintang in their battle against the Communists in the 1920s, and was a figure of some importance during the Second Sino-Japanese War. After the Chinese Civil War and the Kuomintang's retreat to Taiwan, Du went into exile in Hong Kong and remained there until his death in 1951. Du was born in Gaoqiao, a small town east of Shanghai, during the reign of the Guangxu Emperor in the late Qing dynasty. His family moved to Shanghai in 1889, a year after his birth. By the time he reached nine years old, Du had lost his immediate family — his mother died in childbirth, his sister was sold into slavery, his father...

When the fleet returned home in October 1423, the emperor had fallen, leaving China in political and economic chaos. The great ships were left to rot at their moorings and the records of their journeys were destroyed. Lost in the long, self-imposed isolation that followed was the knowledge that Chinese ships had reached America seventy years before Columbus and had circumnavigated the globe a century before Magellan. And they colonised America before the Europeans, transplanting the principal economic crops...

In this video from ISC'10, Prof. Dr. Helmut Merkel presents How the IT/Internet Revolution Changes the Chinese Society. Abstract: The Internet boosts China into a society revolution. More then 300 million DSL users utilize a fast growing, tremendous IT and communication infrastructure in the country. Online payment systems allow customers to use e-commerce platforms like TaoBao. E-commerce will have a market volume of about 35bn Euro in 2010 already. 180 million creditcards allow convenient shopping. UnionPay has the Computing power to clear these transactions. But an unexpected development took also place: Platforms like sohu.com or sina.com became the most important spontaneous "uncensored news" channel tools to exchange news and form opinion. Within the last few years the Chinese ...

Over nine million students take China's college entrance exam each year, but only a highly select number are admitted to the country's two more prestigious universities, Tsinghua University and Peking University. In this documentary, filmmaker and professor Paula Marantz Cohen is granted unprecedented access to the campuses of these universities, where she speaks with students about a range of subjects. They candidly discuss their academic and career goals, their feelings about American culture, and their attitude toward family and country. Their views provide an enlightening and often surprising picture of the upcoming generation of China's educated elite- and a window in the future of China.
