It's also a treasure trove of historical landmarks. Today we're going to take you inside some of the top must-see sights that make Coney Island an American icon. With me today is my good friend Anna, a local New Yorker. She'll also be sharing some of her favorite things to do here.

Now a trip to New York wouldn't be complete
without a stopover at Coney Island. Coney
Island is known for being one of the oldest
and largest amusement parks in America.
It's also a treasure trove of historical landmarks.
Today we're going to take you inside some of the top must-see sights that make Coney
Island an American icon.
With me today is my good friend Anna, a local New Yorker. She'll also be sharing some of
her favorite things to do here.
So right now, we're outside Williams Candy store. It is known for it's candied apples and freshly-made sweet treats. mmmm. That tastes good. You can taste the
cashews and the nuttiness of the cashews and caramel, right? And there's marshmellows?
It's a marshmellow in the center.
Walking along Coney Island Boardwalk is a must. The boardwalk is also the longest and widest boardwalk in the world. You can smell the sugar of the funnel cakes, pizza, hot dogs. You see people eating ice
cream, Italian ices...
Here's my knish. I think I'm gonna get some mustard on it.
Knishes were made popular in New York by Eastern Eurpoean immigrants in the early 1900s. ]
A knish is actually a .. the mustard. So nice and spicy and the breading around the potato
knish is deep fried in a nice, crispy way.
Behind me is the Wonder wheel and this is another Coney Island landmark.
Coney Island USA. It's a non-profit arts organization that helps continue the tradition of sideshow attractions. Contortionists, sword swallowers,bearded ladies.. this is where it all took place.
It houses a daily freak show, the coney island museum and the annual mermaid parade.
Cyclone. The oldest wooden rollercoaster in America that is still working. That first
drop is an 85 foot 60 degree drop. For roller coaster afficionados, this would be on your
bucketlist.
What do you think we should do next Anna?
I think the next thing we do, head down to the water. Gotta put your feet in the water.

So at Los Angeles, at Venice Beach they have a Muscle Beach...
This is Brooklyn's version of Muscle Beach. Only in New York.
Nathan's Famous. The original hotdog stand was built in 1916 and this joint has been
a landmark ever since. They hold an annual hot dog eating contest every fourth of July.
And that's how you can enjoy Coney Island. Eat your way through it.

Hi Guys! Baby CJ saw his first shark today!We took baby CJ to the aquarium for the first time today! We went to the NY Aquarium in Coney Island right next to the beach and next to the iconic Coney Island Cyclone roller coaster...drone shots and fun times! We saw sharks fish and a fun sea lion show although they didn't perform much...Can't wait for the main shark exhibit to open up but that's a couple of years away!! Thanks for letting me know which S you liked from yesterdays vlog!

Coney Island
Coney Island is a peninsular residential neighborhood, beach, and leisure/entertainment destination on the Atlantic Ocean in the southwestern part of the borough of Brooklyn, New York City. The site was formerly an outer barrier island, but became partially connected to the mainland by land fill. The residential portion of the peninsula is a community of 60,000 people in its western part, with Sea Gate to its west, Brighton Beach and Manhattan Beach to its east, the Atlantic Ocean to the south, and Gravesend to the north.
Coney Island is well known as the site of amusement parks and a seaside resort. The attractions reached a historical peak during the first half of the 20th century, declining in popularity after World War II and years of neglect. In recent years, the area has seen the opening of MCU Park stadium and has become home to the Brooklyn Cyclones minor league baseball team, as well as the opening of a new amusement park among several adjacent ones.
Geography
Coney Island is the westernmost part of the barrier islands of Long Island, and is about 4 miles (6.4 km) long and 0.5 miles (0.80 km) wide. It was formerly an island that was separated from the main part of Brooklyn by Coney Island Creek, a partial tidal mudflats, but it has since been developed into a peninsula. There were plans early in the 20th century to dredge and straighten the creek as a ship canal, but they were abandoned, and the center of the creek was filled in completely to allow construction of the Belt Parkway before World War II, and it was filled in again in 1962 with the construction of the Verrazano–Narrows Bridge. The western and eastern ends of the island are now peninsulas.

Island
An island /ˈaɪlənd/ or isle /ˈaɪl/ is any piece of sub-continental land that is surrounded by water. Very small islands such as emergent land features on atolls can be called islets, skerries, cays or keys. An island in a river or a lake island may be called an eyot or ait, or a holm. A grouping of geographically or geologically related islands is called an archipelago, e.g. the Philippines.
An island may be described as such despite the presence of an artificial land bridge, for example Singapore and its causeway, or the various Dutch delta islands, such as IJsselmonde. Some places may even retain "island" in their names for historical reasons after being connected to a larger landmass by a wide land bridge, such as Coney Island or Coronado Island. Plot: Set in the Bronx, BABYGIRL is a bitter-sweet drama about teenager LENA who, since she can remember, has watched her mom LUCY squander her life on a series of deadbeat men. We went to the NY Aquarium in Coney Island right next to the beach and next to the iconic Coney Island Cyclone roller coaster...drone shots and fun times! Today we're going to take you inside some of the top must-see sights that make Coney

With me today is my good friend Anna, a local New Yorker. She'll also be sharing some of
her favorite things to do here.
So right now, we're outside Williams Candy store. It is known for it's candied apples and freshly-made sweet treats. mmmm. That tastes good. You can taste the
cashews and the nuttiness of the cashews and caramel, right? And there's marshmellows?
It's a marshmellow in the center.
Walking along Coney Island Boardwalk is a must. The boardwalk is also the longest and widest boardwalk in the world. You can smell the sugar of the funnel cakes, pizza, hot dogs. You see people eating ice
cream, Italian ices...
Here's my knish. I think I'm gonna get some mustard on it.
Knishes were made popular in New York by Eastern Eurpoean immigrants in the early 1900s. ]
A knish is actually a .. the mustard. So nice and spicy and the breading around the potato
knish is deep fried in a nice, crispy way.
Behind me is the Wonder wheel and this is another Coney Island landmark.
Coney Island USA. It's a non-profit arts organization that helps continue the tradition of sideshow attractions. Contortionists, sword swallowers,bearded ladies.. this is where it all took place.
It houses a daily freak show, the coney island museum and the annual mermaid parade.
Cyclone. The oldest wooden rollercoaster in America that is still working. That first
drop is an 85 foot 60 degree drop. For roller coaster afficionados, this would be on your
bucketlist.
What do you think we should do next Anna?
I think the next thing we do, head down to the water. Gotta put your feet in the water.
We're at coney island. Let's go.

That's really nice. I'm glad we did this.

So at Los Angeles, at Venice Beach they have a Muscle Beach...
This is Brooklyn's version of Muscle Beach. Only in New York.
Nathan's Famous. The original hotdog stand was built in 1916 and this joint has been
a landmark ever since. They hold an annual hot dog eating contest every fourth of July.
And that's how you can enjoy Coney Island. Eat your way through it.

Hi Guys! Baby CJ saw his first shark today!We took baby CJ to the aquarium for the first time today! We went to the NY Aquarium in Coney Island right next to the beach and next to the iconic Coney Island Cyclone roller coaster...drone shots and fun times! We saw sharks fish and a fun sea lion show although they didn't perform much...Can't wait for the main shark exhibit to open up but that's a couple of years away!! Thanks for letting me know which S you liked from yesterdays vlog!

Now a trip to New York wouldn't be complete
without a stopover at Coney Island. Coney
Island is known for being one of the oldest
and largest amusement parks in America.
It's also a treasure trove of historical landmarks.
Today we're going to take you inside some of the top must-see sights that make Coney
Island an American icon.
With me today is my good friend Anna, a local New Yorker. She'll also be sharing some of
her favorite things to do here.
So right now, we're outside Williams Candy store. It is known for it's candied apples and freshly-made sweet treats. mmmm. That tastes good. You can taste the
cashews and the nuttiness of the cashews and caramel, right? And there's marshmellows?
It's a marshmellow in the center.
Walking along Coney Island Boardwalk is a must. The boardwalk is also the longest and widest boardwalk in the world. You can smell the sugar of the funnel cakes, pizza, hot dogs. You see people eating ice
cream, Italian ices...
Here's my knish. I think I'm gonna get some mustard on it.
Knishes were made popular in New York by Eastern Eurpoean immigrants in the early 1900s. ]
A knish is actually a .. the mustard. So nice and spicy and the breading around the potato
knish is deep fried in a nice, crispy way.
Behind me is the Wonder wheel and this is another Coney Island landmark.
Coney Island USA. It's a non-profit arts organization that helps continue the tradition of sideshow attractions. Contortionists, sword swallowers,bearded ladies.. this is where it all took place.
It houses a daily freak show, the coney island museum and the annual mermaid parade.
Cyclone. The oldest wooden rollercoaster in America that is still working. That first
drop is an 85 foot 60 degree drop. For roller coaster afficionados, this would be on your
bucketlist.
What do you think we should do next Anna?
I think the next thing we do, head down to the water. Gotta put your feet in the water.
We're at coney island. Let's go.

So at Los Angeles, at Venice Beach they have a Muscle Beach...
This is Brooklyn's version of Muscle Beach. Only in New York.
Nathan's Famous. The original hotdog stand was built in 1916 and this joint has been
a landmark ever since. They hold an annual hot dog eating contest every fourth of July.
And that's how you can enjoy Coney Island. Eat your way through it.

without a stopover at Coney Island. Coney

and largest amusement parks in America.
It's also a treasure trove of historical landmarks.
Today we're going to take you inside some of the top must-see sights that make Coney
Island an American icon.
With me today is my good friend Anna, a local New Yorker. She'll also be sharing some of
her favorite things to do here.
So right now, we're outside Williams Candy store. It is known for it's candied apples and freshly-made sweet treats. mmmm. That tastes good. You can taste the
cashews and the nuttiness of the cashews and caramel, right? And there's marshmellows?
It's a marshmellow in the center.
Walking along Coney Island Boardwalk is a must. The boardwalk is also the longest and widest boardwalk in the world. You can smell the sugar of the funnel cakes, pizza, hot dogs. You see people eating ice
cream, Italian ices...
Here's my knish. I think I'm gonna get some mustard on it.
Knishes were made popular in New York by Eastern Eurpoean immigrants in the early 1900s. ]
A knish is actually a .. the mustard. So nice and spicy and the breading around the potato
knish is deep fried in a nice, crispy way.
Behind me is the Wonder wheel and this is another Coney Island landmark.
Coney Island USA. It's a non-profit arts organization that helps continue the tradition of sideshow attractions. Contortionists, sword swallowers,bearded ladies.. this is where it all took place.
It houses a daily freak show, the coney island museum and the annual mermaid parade.
Cyclone. The oldest wooden rollercoaster in America that is still working. That first
drop is an 85 foot 60 degree drop. For roller coaster afficionados, this would be on your
bucketlist.
What do you think we should do next Anna?
I think the next thing we do, head down to the water. Gotta put your feet in the water.
We're at coney island. Let's go.

So at Los Angeles, at Venice Beach they have a Muscle Beach...
This is Brooklyn's version of Muscle Beach. Only in New York.
Nathan's Famous. The original hotdog stand was built in 1916 and this joint has been
a landmark ever since. They hold an annual hot dog eating contest every fourth of July.
And that's how you can enjoy Coney Island. Eat your way through it.

A knish is actually a .. the mustard. So nice and spicy and the breading around the potato
knish is deep fried in a nice, crispy way.
Behind me is the Wonder wheel and this is another Coney Island landmark.
Coney Island USA. It's a non-profit arts organization that helps continue the tradition of sideshow attractions. Contortionists, sword swallowers,bearded ladies.. this is where it all took place.
It houses a daily freak show, the coney island museum and the annual mermaid parade.
Cyclone. The oldest wooden rollercoaster in America that is still working. That first
drop is an 85 foot 60 degree drop. For roller coaster afficionados, this would be on your
bucketlist.

This is Brooklyn's version of Muscle Beach. Only in New York.
Nathan's Famous. The original hotdog stand was built in 1916 and this joint has been
a landmark ever since. They hold an annual hot dog eating contest every fourth of July.
And that's how you can enjoy Coney Island. Eat your way through it.

In the cheap glitter and glow of a fading Coney Island a group of characters live out their sordid, strange lives trying to get somewhere fast - any way they can. Desperately trying to love and be loved. These cops, call girls, mafia hoods, transvestites, fortune-tellers, clowns, and freaks are all intertwined, heading on a crazy roller coaster ride into a black hole they think is life.
All of these characters are totally removed from the 60s America that, at the same time, is violently changing its values, fast. It is how hard they try, with the deck stacked against them, that we root for them in amazement. The film is done in funny hand drawn animation which makes their story even more amazing to watch. We invite you to enjoy the show.
