Bitcoin

Bitcoin is a digital asset and a payment system invented by Satoshi Nakamoto, who published the invention in 2008 and released it as open-source software in 2009. The system is peer-to-peer; users can transact directly without an intermediary. Transactions are verified by network nodes and recorded in a public distributed ledger called the block chain. The ledger uses bitcoin as its unit of account. The system works without a central repository or single administrator, which has led the U.S. Treasury to categorize bitcoin as a decentralized virtual currency. Bitcoin is often called the first cryptocurrency, although prior systems existed. Bitcoin is more correctly described as the first decentralized digital currency. It is the largest of its kind in terms of total market value.

Bitcoins are created as a reward for payment processing work in which users offer their computing power to verify and record payments into a public ledger. This activity is called mining and miners are rewarded with transaction fees and newly created bitcoins. Besides being obtained by mining, bitcoins can be exchanged for other currencies, products, and services. Users can send and receive bitcoins for an optional transaction fee.

The Rubin Report

The Rubin Report is a current events talk show airing on Ora TV and YouTube, hosted by comedian and political satirist Dave Rubin. The show's producer David Janet describes it as "taking a politically incorrect approach at discussing big ideas and current events focusing on politics, religion, and the media. The shows features individuals as well as a panel of guests often consisting of authors, journalists, comedians, and professors."

History

Dave Rubin left The Six Pack radio show on Sirius XM Satellite Radio in New York City in 2013 to launch a politically charged talk show called The Rubin Report in Los Angeles, California.

In 2015, the show briefly moved to RYOT News which "provided Dave Rubin with a great opportunity".

In August 2015, Larry King's Ora TV picked up the show which debuted on September 9, 2015.The Rubin Report became the network's third political commentary show alongside PoliticKING with Larry King and Jesse Ventura's Off The Grid.

Format

From 2013-2015, The Rubin Report featured a panel of two guests and covered weekly news stories ranging from politics to entertainment. After launching on Ora TV in 2015, the show took a more focussed approach on the big ideas relating to politics, religion, as well as a focus on one on one interviews and monologues from Dave Rubin. The Rubin Report consists of three segments, Direct Message, The Sit Down, and The Panel.

Roger Ver

Roger Ver, nicknamed Bitcoin Jesus, (b. ~1979) is a Kittitian/Nevisian early investor in bitcoin related startups who was formerly an American citizen.

He leveraged his gains and invested over a million dollars into new bitcoin related startups including Blockchain, Ripple, and BitPay.

Ver pled guilty to selling explosives on eBay in 2002, and was sentenced to 10 months in federal prison.

He renounced his United States citizenship in 2014. In 2015 he was denied a visa to reenter the United States by the US Embassy in Barbados which claimed that he had not sufficiently proven ties outside of the USA that would motivate him to leave at the end of his visit, causing fears he might become an illegal immigrant. Later his visa was approved by the US Embassy in Tokyo.

Going-to future

The going-to future is a grammatical construction used in English to refer to various types of future occurrences. It is made using appropriate forms of the expression to be going to. It is an alternative to other ways of referring to the future in English, such as the future construction formed with will (or shall) – in some contexts the different constructions are interchangeable, while in others they carry somewhat different implications.

Constructions analogous to the English going-to future are found in some other languages, including French and Spanish.

Origin

The going-to future originated by the extension of the spatial sense of the verb go to a temporal sense (a common change, the same phenomenon can be seen in the preposition before). The original construction involved physical movement with an intention, such as "I am going [outside] to harvest the crop." The location later became unnecessary, and the expression was reinterpreted to represent a near future.

The colloquial form gonna and the other variations of it as mentioned in the following section result from a relaxed pronunciation of going to. They can provide a distinction between the spatial and temporal senses of the expression: "I'm gonna swim" clearly carries the temporal meaning of futurity, as opposed to the spatial meaning of "I'm going [in order] to swim".

Getty Images now operates a large commercial website which allows clients to search and browse for images, purchase usage rights and download images. Costs of images vary according to the chosen resolution and type of rights associated with each image. The company also offers custom photo services for corporate clients.
