With customer viewing habits continuing to evolve and more people watching on demand, we’ve made the decision to keep a step ahead by replacing the World Movies channel with a dedicated on demand library. The change also streamlines our on demand offer by putting a curated collection of the best in world cinema within easy reach for international film fans.
What happens next?
From the 1st of February 2018 World Movies will move to On Demand, replacing the World Movie channel which will be removed from Foxtel Movies line up from the 31st of January 2018.
From this date, a selection of World Movies programming will be made available to Movies pack customers to watch On Demand^, and a dedicated, weekly World Movies screening on Foxtel Movies Masterpiece will start from 3 January 2018. These include films from renowned auteurs Pedro Almodovar, Rainer Werner Fassbinder, Xavier Dolan, Wong Kar Wai, Seijun Suzuki and Werner Herzog.
^Just connect your compatible iQ box or device to the internet. Data charges may apply. Shows only available if they’re in your pack, some shows/channels not available. Sorry, Australia only.
You may have heard news lately surrounding ‘KRACK’, a recently discovered security vulnerability that affects WiFi networks. The vulnerability extends world-wide and can impact a range of consumer devices when they are connected to a wireless (WiFi) network. The latest reports suggest that this vulnerability has not yet been exploited by hackers; however, Foxtel is taking the situation very seriously and we are working with our device manufacturers to determine if any of the Foxtel supplied equipment (set top boxes, WiFi modems) is susceptible. If we discover a risk we will remotely update our devices ASAP to re-secure them.
The KRACK vulnerability requires a potential hacker to be within range of the WiFi network, which reduces the possibility of attack; however, Foxtel suggests that customers take appropriate steps to update the software of all of their wireless devices (PCs/ Laptops, tablets, mobile phones, games consoles, etc.) as many technology providers have already begun releasing patches.
We will continue to keep you informed via the Foxtel community at community.foxtel.com.au.
