Watch: Councilmembers Arrested in Mass Civil Disobedience Demand Immigrant Justice

Erin Sheridan Jan 19, 2018

New York — Community leaders and activists gathered, Thursday, in support of members of the City Council and others who were arrested last Thursday in a civil disobedience protesting the detention of Ravi Ragbir, co-founder of the immigrant rights group New Sanctuary Coalition NYC.

They came together at Holyrood Episcopal Church in Washington Heights where, six months earlier, mother-of-two Amanda Morales-Guerra took refuge from deportation. Councilmember Ydanis Rodriguez has accused the NYPD of placing him in a chokehold during the demonstration last week.
