A noun (from Latin nōmen, literally meaning "name") is a word that functions as the name of some specific thing or set of things, such as living creatures, objects, places, actions, qualities, states of existence, or ideas.Linguistically, a noun is a member of a large, open part of speech whose members can occur as the main word in the subject of a clause, the object of a verb, or the object of a preposition.
Lexical categories (parts of speech) are defined in terms of the ways in which their members combine with other kinds of expressions. The syntactic rules for nouns differ from language to language. In English, nouns are those words which can occur with articles and attributive adjectives and can function as the head of a noun phrase.
Word classes (parts of speech) were described by Sanskrit grammarians from at least the 5th century BC. In Yāska's Nirukta, the noun (nāma) is one of the four main categories of words defined.
The Ancient Greek equivalent was ónoma (ὄνομα), referred to by Plato in the Cratylus dialog, and later listed as one of the eight parts of speech in The Art of Grammar, attributed to Dionysius Thrax (2nd century BC). The term used in Latin grammar was nōmen. All of these terms for "noun" were also words meaning "name". The English word noun is derived from the Latin term, through the Anglo-Norman noun.
The Atlantic Ocean is the second largest of the world's oceanic divisions, following the Pacific Ocean. With a total area of about 106,400,000 square kilometres (41,100,000 sq mi), it covers approximately 20 percent of the Earth's surface and about 29 percent of its water surface area. The first part of its name refers to Atlas of Greek mythology, making the Atlantic the "Sea of Atlas".
The oldest known mention of "Atlantic" is in The Histories of Herodotus around 450 BC (Hdt. 1.202.4): Atlantis thalassa (Greek: Ἀτλαντὶς θάλασσα; English: Sea of Atlas). The term Ethiopic Ocean, derived from Ethiopia, was applied to the southern Atlantic as late as the mid-19th century. Before Europeans discovered other oceans, their term "ocean" was synonymous with the waters beyond the Strait of Gibraltar that are now known as the Atlantic. The early Greeks believed this ocean to be a gigantic river encircling the world.
The Atlantic Ocean occupies an elongated, S-shaped basin extending longitudinally between Eurasia and Africa to the east, and the Americas to the west. As one component of the interconnected global ocean, it is connected in the north to the Arctic Ocean, to the Pacific Ocean in the southwest, the Indian Ocean in the southeast, and the Southern Ocean in the south (other definitions describe the Atlantic as extending southward to Antarctica). The equator subdivides it into the North Atlantic Ocean and South Atlantic Ocean.
The Atlantic is an American magazine, founded (as The Atlantic Monthly) in 1857 in Boston, Massachusetts, now based in Washington, D.C. It was created as a literary and cultural commentary magazine, growing to achieve a national reputation as a high-quality review with a moderate worldview. The magazine has notably recognized and published new writers and poets, as well as encouraged major careers. It has also published leading writers' commentary on abolition, education, and other major issues in contemporary political affairs. The magazine has won more National Magazine Awards than any other monthly magazine.
After experiencing financial hardship and a series of ownership changes, the magazine was reformatted as a general editorial magazine. Focusing on "foreign affairs, politics, and the economy [as well as] cultural trends", it is now primarily aimed at a target audience of serious national readers and "thought leaders".
The first issue of the magazine was published on November 1, 1857. The magazine's initiator and founder was Francis H. Underwood, an assistant to the publisher, who received less recognition than his partners because he was "neither a 'humbug' nor a Harvard man". The other founding sponsors were prominent writers, including Ralph Waldo Emerson; Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr.; Henry Wadsworth Longfellow; Harriet Beecher Stowe; John Greenleaf Whittier; and James Russell Lowell, who served as its first editor.
A music video or song video is a short film integrating a song and imagery, produced for promotional or artistic purposes. Modern music videos are primarily made and used as a marketing device intended to promote the sale of music recordings. There are also cases where songs are used in tie in marketing campaigns that allow them to become more than just a song. Tie ins and merchandising could be used in toys are marketing campaigns for food and other products. Although the origins of music videos date back to musical short films that first appeared in the 1920s, they came into prominence in the 1980s when MTV based their format around the medium. Prior to the 1980s, these works were described by various terms including "illustrated song", "filmed insert", "promotional (promo) film", "promotional clip", "promotional video", "song video", "song clip" or "film clip". Since the creation and increased popularity of YouTube, mainstream artists now promote new music videos by releasing trailers of short promos on the site for their upcoming song and music video. Consequentially, YouTube has been converted into a social media platform for celebrities and artists to market themselves to their fans and audiences.

Throughout history, mankind has labored to overcome the challenges presented by the natural world. People are forever trying to build houses on unstable land, or to make entire villages at the bases of active volcanos. It’s almost like the bigger the challenge, the more we want to make it work. In 17th century France, protecting the country from the mighty English naval fleets was paramount. However, this was difficult to do when only the English Channel separated the two lands, which is a mere 20 miles wide at the shortest gap. source : http://boredomtherapy.com join us in our second channel..let's help animals together https://goo.gl/fauhmJ OUR Website : http://www.dduknow.com Facebook : https://www.facebook.com/know.of Twitter : https://twitter.com/Did_You_Know_of Instagram : https:/...

LOST ON THE ATLANTIC Crossing the Ocean in a Stone Age Reed Boat. 50’ HD documentary German biologist and experimental archaeologist Dominiqu Goerlitz has a dream - to prove that Stone Age man could have sailed a tiny reed boat across the Atlantic from Europe to the New World - and back again! In July 2007 Dominique and 11 sailors from four countries set out from New York harbour to test his theory. Their 10-metre boat, the Abora III, a reed vessel constructed in Bolivia from Goerltitz’s interpretation of prehistoric rock carvings in Europe and North Africa. Back in the 60s, legendary explorer Thor Heyerdahl crossed the Atlantic like this from West to East. But experts had said it was impossible to come back against the wind. But Goerlitz’s rock carvings suggest Stone Age man had lee-b...

The idea for this trip was birthed around three years ago when I first saw a photo of one of these fish whilst researching diving opportunities in Europe before I moved to the UK from Australia. Countless hours of planning and preparation saw myself, Andrew Gomm, Joose Seppälä, Bryson Sheehy & Nikki Watt diving in the Arctic Circle in the top end of Norway. A remote and beautiful part of the world however the diving for halibut is extremely difficult. Long days drifting in cold water, thick wetsuits & mental torture. Over five days diving we put three of these incredible fish into the boat. Absolutely none of the fish was wasted and everything was consumed; I am still enjoying halibut fillets four months later. Filmed by Daniel Mann, additional footage from Joose, Bryson & Nikki. Shot w...

Sailing my Baba 30 en route to the Caribbean Update .. I finally got round to digging the video out and getting the date of the recording. Much to my surprise this was filmed near the start of our Atlantic crossing from the Canaries to St Lucia, So my initial title was way out, in my defence, an ocean looks pretty much the same wherever you are with no land as a reference. The log for that day at 12:00 on the 2nd Dec 2006 has me at 22.0N, 25.5W, Wind 25-30 Knots from the East. We are about 200NM North of Sao Vicente in Cape Verde or 500NM W of Africa. We have about 4000m (2.5 miles ) of water below us, I believe it would take several minutes for the boat to reach the bottom. The log entry states, Rough seas, both tired.

Sunday, July 30, 2017: POLITICON panel discussion on immigration: "Mr. Trump, Tear Down This Wall," moderated by Krystal Ball, with Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson, former illegal alien Julissa Arce, Rep. Ted Liu (D-CA), The Atlantic writer Vann R Newkirk II, and Southern California ACLU Executive Director Hector Villagra, political conference in Pasadena. Five liberals versus one conservative Trump supporter. They said illegals commit less crime than citizens, Mexicans don't treat blacks like second-class citizens, immigration is good for black employment, set-up a straw-man argument to "debunk," that illegals took coal miners' jobs. JULISSA ARCE learned in textbooks that America treats blacks like second-class citizens. Jesse said she and others doesn't care about blacks; they use blacks to adv...

Friends, followers, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from www.HaveWindWillTravel.com! A real treat for you here, available for the first time to my entire audience: my two-hour movie from our trans-Atlantic. A documentary on the fierce battles that were fought between the Royal Navy and the Kreigsmarine in the Atlantic Ocean during the Second World War. Includes submarine attacks on the shipping convoys, hunting the submarine packs, RAF Coastal Command and battleship versus battleship warfare.
Every third week, a British Royal Mail ship begins its journey from Cape Town to Saint Helena, the remote island in the Atlantic where Napoleon was once in exile. It’s like the end of the world in the middle of the Atlantic. Five days, with a northwesterly course, and only then do the sheer black cliffs appear in front of RMS St. Helena. The island’s 45000 residents are often waiting impatiently for the ship’s arrival and panic if the schedule changes. Director Thomas Denzel and his team went on the journey to Saint Helena and met the people living on the island. Many of the residents are descendants of people who were sent into exile there by the British crown - the most famous among them, the French Emperor Napoleon. This is a report about life at the end of the world, loneliness, uniqu...

The longest continuous military campaign of World War 2. The Battle for the Atlantic raged across the ocean from 1939 till 1945,pitting feared U-boats and other German naval warships against Allied shipping and troop convoys. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- If anyone notices, most of the video is mirrored, expect the maps and the diagrams, so basically you probably won't even notice that it is mirrored, I don't know why I did this, probably was really bored.Would be kind of amusing to compare it to other versions of this video.
Even the most daunting world records are meant to be broken … eventually. For elite navigator Stan Honey and a crew of sailing all-stars, beating the prestigious monohull transatlantic sailing record was the ultimate accomplishment. And it was no easy feat. On July 22, 2016, the Comanche—a custom-built, 100-foot racing yacht—set sail from New York to the southern tip of England. Precisely five days, 14 hours, 21 minutes and 25 seconds later, the Comanche’s crew shattered the world record … by more than a day. Battle of the Atlantic. The Supply Line of Freedom.
Power is just an absolutely perfect AOR album. Atlantic obviously loved the classic AOR sound of bands like Journey and Foreigner, and this album has that same classic sound. From upbeat rockers like "It's Only Love" and "Power Over Me" to the catchy "Every Beat of My Heart" to soaring ballads like "When the War Is Over" and "Hard to Believe," Power is one amazing melodic rock song after another. It's catchy, polished, has an incredible vocal performance and seems tailor made for 80's radio domination. If you're a fan of AOR and melodic rock this is simply a must-have album. It's a forgotten slice of AOR perfection. Tracklist: 01. Can't Hold On 02. Every Beat of my Heart 03. Power Over Me 04. When the War is Over 05. Nothing To Lose 06. It's Only Love 07. Bad Blood 08. I hope all my days will be lit by your face
I hope all the years will hold tight our promises
I don't want to be old and sleep alone
An empty house is not a home
I don't want to be old and feel afraid
I don't want to be old and sleep alone
An empty house is not a home
I don't want to be old and feel afraid
And if I need anything at all
I need a place that's hidden in the deep
Where lonely angels sing you to your sleep
Though all the world is broken
I need a place where I can make my bed
A lover's lap where I can lay my head
'Cause now the room is spinning
