So...I'm trying out my new car video camera for the first time. The date and time are totally wrong because I had replaced the battery and forgot to reset it, but this was taken today (Sept. 8th, 2016). Just a cheap camera but it caught this near wreck this morning. Always look out for the "other guy". :D

Welcome to the wonderful world of complex simulator aircraft. The before start flows for the Dash 8 Q400 are quite extensive, and attempting to perform them during The Life of a Virtual Airline Pilot Episodes makes the videos way too long. So I have put together this Cold and Dark Startup tutorial with one little catch. We get all the way to starting the Engines and then we stop. If you want to see how to start the engines, I walk you through that process in every episode of my series. The video begins as we enter the terminal at Southampton, and head through security to the small departure lounge. It is soon time for boarding and we walk out to the aircraft and take our seat in seat 7D. We receive our route clearance from Southampton Tower and soon get our push and start clearance. We backtrack down runway 20 for departure, holding short for a helicopter departing the airfield. Once he is gone we are cleared for takeoff. After takeoff we turn on a north-easterly heading, towards London, climbing to 20,000ft. After a left turn we continue north on a beautiful clear morning, getting a great view of the cities of Milton Keynes, Northampton, Leicester and Derby, and a great view of East Midlands Airport. We commence our approach over the beautiful Peak District which is again under clear skies, turning over Stockport for our final approach. We are cleared to land on runway 23R, and touchdown early, taxying into Terminal 3.

We pushback from the gate at East Midlands before taking a single engine taxi to runway 27. We then depart to the west overhead Donington Park circuit before turning right to the west of Derby and climbing to a cruising altitude of 24,000ft. We then head towards Carlisle, before turning right over the Scottish borders and commencing our descent, flying a short holding pattern before continuing our approach into Edinburgh. We are treated to a stunning view of the city of Edinburgh as we fly our final approach over a very choppy Firth of Forth. The approach is very blustery with many engine pitch changes before we touch down on runway 24 at Edinburgh, after a flight time of 49 minutes.
