If some of these things seem like they might be in conflict at times with what the President of the United States can't do, well, that's the point. Checks and balances. The Government is made up of three branches - Executive (POTUS), Legislative (Congress), and Judicial (SCOTUS). No one has a magic button to do what they want. While this may seem like it creates a lot of pointless red tape and infighting, it also keeps the Republic running and not turning into an Oligarchy. So before you hate Obama/Bush/Clinton/Reagan, remember, the President takes most of the blame when everything goes wrong, and very little praise when it goes right.
If you're reading this list - or our previous list 25 Things The President Can't Actually Do - and saying to yourself "But so and so is stepping / stepped out of bounds!" remember, it's up to the other two branches of government to keep the president in check. A failing on one part of the government is also a failing on the other two parts of government. A three legged stool cannot balance with one or two legs. The President has the authority to convene Congress during a break during extreme circumstances. He also has the power to adjourn them if he deems it necessary, as outlined in Article II, section 3 of the Constitution.
The US president can grant pardons or reprieves for those convicted of Federal Crimes, as outlined in the Constitution, Article II, Section 2. EXCEPT in the case of impeachment, so the president cannot pardon him or herself if convicted of a crime while in office. To date, President Barack Obama has issued 348 pardons, more than any other president. However, many of them are for overly harsh sentences for things like marijuana possession.
The President is the official party leader of his or her political party while they are in office as the party leader is simply the most powerful person within that party. They take the lead in representing their party to the nation, addressing their party, and steering party policy.
The President has the power to veto a bill that has been passed by Congress. However, congress can vote to override a Presidential Veto, though it's rarely been done. If the President threatens to veto a bill, it can often lead to changes in the legislation before it's passed.
The President has the power to appoint ambassadors, SCOTUS judges (though these must be approved by Congress), the Secretary of State, and other various federal officials without an election but generally with approval from the Senate.
It is the job of the President to prepare the Budget (this takes months) and submit the proposed budget (called "Budget Of The US Government") to Congress for approval.

The President is a mountain peak on the The President/Vice-President Massif, just North of Emerald Lake in Yoho National Park, near the Alpine Club of Canada's Stanley Mitchell hut.
The President was named Shaugnessy in 1904 by Edward Whymper after Thomas Shaugnessy, the president of the Canadian Pacific Railway. In 1907, the mountain was renamed by the Alpine Club of Canada, after it was discovered that the name had already been used on a mountain in the Selkirks.

Jimmy Kimmel
James Christian "Jimmy" Kimmel (born November 13, 1967) is an American television host, producer, writer, comedian, voice actor, musician and radio personality. He is the host and executive producer of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, a late-night talk show that premiered on ABC in 2003. Kimmel also hosted the 64th Primetime Emmy Awards on September 23, 2012.
Prior to hosting Jimmy Kimmel Live!, he was best known as the co-host of Comedy Central's The Man Show and Win Ben Stein's Money. Kimmel has also produced such shows as Crank Yankers, Sports Show with Norm Macdonald, and The Andy Milonakis Show.
Early life
Kimmel was born in Brooklyn, New York, and grew up in the neighborhood of Mill Basin the eldest of three children of Joan (née Iacono), a homemaker, and James John Kimmel, an IBM executive.
He is, and was raised, Catholic, and as a child served as an altar boy. Kimmel's mother is of Italian ancestry; two of his paternal great-great-grandparents were German emigrants, and his family's surname was "Kümmel" several generations back. The family moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, when he was nine years old. He graduated from Ed W. Clark High School.

Jimmy Kimmel Live! is an American late-night talk show, created and hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, and broadcast on ABC. The nightly hour-long show made its debut on January 26, 2003, as the first program to air immediately following ABC's coverage of Super Bowl XXXVII. Jimmy Kimmel Live! is produced by Jackhole Productions in association with ABC Studios. Having aired for more than twice as long as either the The Dick Cavett Show (1969–1975) or Politically Incorrect (1997–2002), it is the longest running late-night talk show in ABC's history at 13 years and counting as of 15 February 2016.

Trump
A trump is a playing card which is elevated above its normal rank in trick-taking games. Typically an entire suit is nominated as a trump suit - these cards then outrank all cards of plain (non-trump) suits. In other contexts, the term trump card can refer to any sort of action, authority, or policy which automatically prevails over all others.
Etymology
The word "trump" derives from "trionfi" or "triumph", documented as the name of a card game in 1529 and which spawned the game Ruff and Honours, which in turn led to Whist. Trionfi was also the name of the original card game for which tarot cards were designed, and in it the tarot cards had the role of what are now called trumps; later card games, beginning with Triomphe, started using one of the ordinary suits as a replacement for the tarots when a tarot pack was not available.

In most games, the relative rank of cards within a suit is the same in trump and plain suits, but they may sometimes differ, for example in Klabberjass, Euchre, or Eighty Points.

Tucker Carlson gave a full-throated defense of President Donald Trump‘s reported “sh*thole countries” remark regarding U.S. immigration policy — and how the U.S. admits people from from places like El Salvador, Haiti, and other African nations. “President Trump said something that almost every single person in America actually agrees with,” Carlson said. “An awful lot of immigrants come from this country from other places that aren’t very nice. Those places are dangerous, they’re dirty, they’re corrupt, and they’re poor and that’s the main reason those immigrants are trying to come here and you would too if you live there.” The Fox News host said that Trump’s use of the expletive “is not surprising” since he “uses them all the time,” but wondered why “virtually everyone in Washington, New York, and LA” is treating it like a “major event.” Tucker Carlson was then joined by former communications director for President Obama‘s 2012 campaign Jose Parra to discuss. But before getting into it with him, Carlson accused CNN commentator Joan Walsh of lying when she said she “can’t say” where she’d choose to live between Norway or Haiti when pressed by Rich Lowry during a panel. “If we have gotten to the point where we all have to pretend that every country is as exactly as nice as every other country, then we are being dishonest,” Carlson said. “But the idea that you are not allowed to say that they’re pretty crummy countries. Haiti, for example, or El Salvador — I have been to both of them. That’s why people are leaving them to come here. So I don’t understand what the sin is. You are not allowed to point out other countries aren’t as good places to live as America? Like, what is the problem?” Parra invoked Trump’s comments after Charlottesville as part of the reason why his remarks today are facing backlash, but Carlson quickly dismissed the notion, asking Parra to “be rational here” and insisting they’re “not the same thing.” Parra doubled down, saying that Trump is only targeting “countries with brown people” instead of European nations that are also struggling with things like crime. Carlson pointed out that according to the U.N., Norway is the “most developed country in the world” while Haiti is the “poorest place in the hemisphere.” “People are actually staying in this country right now legally because Haiti is so bad, we don’t think they should have to return,” Carlson said. “So if you say Norway is a better place to live and Haiti is kind of a hole, well anyone who’s been to those countries or has lived in them would agree! Unfortunately, Arthur Sherlock Holmes is a quick-tempered, ranting, violent bungler, and his assistant, Dr. William Watson (grandson of Dr. John H. Watson) is one of the most moronic creatures ever to walk the earth, although he is invaluable because he has "bionic bits". Holmes has inherited a drug habit from his grandfather, one which his housekeeper, Mrs. Hudson, is less than discreet about, and the sleek Moriarty is also one step ahead of him, eventually murdering the police commisioner. Finally, Holmes decides to hold a party, inviting the world's most distinguished detectives, hoping to flush Moriarty out of hiding. However, it does not go as planned.

If some of these things seem like they might be in conflict at times with what the President of the United States can't do, well, that's the point. Checks and balances. The Government is made up of three branches - Executive (POTUS), Legislative (Congress), and Judicial (SCOTUS). No one has a magic button to do what they want. While this may seem like it creates a lot of pointless red tape and infighting, it also keeps the Republic running and not turning into an Oligarchy. So before you hate Obama/Bush/Clinton/Reagan, remember, the President takes most of the blame when everything goes wrong, and very little praise when it goes right.
If you're reading this list - or our previous list 25 Things The President Can't Actually Do - and saying to yourself "But so and so is stepping / stepped out of bounds!" remember, it's up to the other two branches of government to keep the president in check. The President has the authority to convene Congress during a break during extreme circumstances. He also has the power to adjourn them if he deems it necessary, as outlined in Article II, section 3 of the Constitution.
The US president can grant pardons or reprieves for those convicted of Federal Crimes, as outlined in the Constitution, Article II, Section 2. EXCEPT in the case of impeachment, so the president cannot pardon him or herself if convicted of a crime while in office. To date, President Barack Obama has issued 348 pardons, more than any other president. However, many of them are for overly harsh sentences for things like marijuana possession.
The President is the official party leader of his or her political party while they are in office as the party leader is simply the most powerful person within that party. They take the lead in representing their party to the nation, addressing their party, and steering party policy.
The President has the power to veto a bill that has been passed by Congress. However, congress can vote to override a Presidential Veto, though it's rarely been done. If the President threatens to veto a bill, it can often lead to changes in the legislation before it's passed.
The President has the power to appoint ambassadors, SCOTUS judges (though these must be approved by Congress), the Secretary of State, and other various federal officials without an election but generally with approval from the Senate.
It is the job of the President to prepare the Budget (this takes months) and submit the proposed budget (called "Budget Of The US Government") to Congress for approval.

Tucker Carlson gave a full-throated defense of President Donald Trump‘s reported “sh*thole countries” remark regarding U.S. immigration policy — and how the U.S. admits people from from places like El Salvador, Haiti, and other African nations.
“President Trump said something that almost every single person in America actually agrees with,” Carlson said. “An awful lot of immigrants come from this country from other places that aren’t very nice. Those places are dangerous, they’re dirty, they’re corrupt, and they’re poor and that’s the main reason those immigrants are trying to come here and you would too if you live there.”
The Fox News host said that Trump’s use of the expletive “is not surprising” since he “uses them all the time,” but wondered why “virtually everyone in Washington, New York, and LA” is treating it like a “major event.”
Tucker Carlson was then joined by former communications director for President Obama‘s 2012 campaign Jose Parra to discuss. But before getting into it with him, Carlson accused CNN commentator Joan Walsh of lying when she said she “can’t say” where she’d choose to live between Norway or Haiti when pressed by Rich Lowry during a panel.
“If we have gotten to the point where we all have to pretend that every country is as exactly as nice as every other country, then we are being dishonest,” Carlson said. “But the idea that you are not allowed to say that they’re pretty crummy countries. Haiti, for example, or El Salvador — I have been to both of them. That’s why people are leaving them to come here. So I don’t understand what the sin is. You are not allowed to point out other countries aren’t as good places to live as America? Like, what is the problem?”
Parra invoked Trump’s comments after Charlottesville as part of the reason why his remarks today are facing backlash, but Carlson quickly dismissed the notion, asking Parra to “be rational here” and insisting they’re “not the same thing.” Parra doubled down, saying that Trump is only targeting “countries with brown people” instead of European nations that are also struggling with things like crime. Carlson pointed out that according to the U.N., Norway is the “most developed country in the world” while Haiti is the “poorest place in the hemisphere.”
“People are actually staying in this country right now legally because Haiti is so bad, we don’t think they should have to return,” Carlson said. “So if you say Norway is a better place to live and Haiti is kind of a hole, well anyone who’s been to those countries or has lived in them would agree! But we’re jumping up and down, ‘Oh, you can’t say that!’ Why can’t you say that?!?”
