Turkey (i/ˈtÉœË?rki/; Turkish: Türkiye [ˈtyɾcije]), officially the Republic of Turkey (Turkish:  Türkiye Cumhuriyeti ), is a parliamentary republic in Eurasia, largely located in Western Asia, with the smaller portion of Eastern Thrace in Southeast Europe. Turkey is bordered by eight countries: Syria and Iraq to the south; Iran, Armenia, and the Azerbaijani exclave of Nakhchivan to the east; Georgia to the northeast; Bulgaria to the northwest; and Greece to the west. The Black Sea is to the north, the Mediterranean Sea to the south, and the Aegean Sea to the west. The Bosphorus, the Sea of Marmara, and the Dardanelles (which together form the Turkish Straits) demarcate the boundary between Thrace and Anatolia; they also separate Europe and Asia. Turkey's location at the crossroads of Europe and Asia makes it a country of significant geostrategic importance.
Turkey has been inhabited since the paleolithic age, including various ancient Anatolian civilizations, Aeolian, Dorian and Ionian Greeks, Thracians, Armenians, and Assyrians. After Alexander the Great's conquest, the area was Hellenized, a process which continued under the Roman Empire and its transition into the Byzantine Empire. The Seljuk Turks began migrating into the area in the 11th century, starting the process of Turkification, which was greatly accelerated by the Seljuk victory over the Byzantines at the Battle of Manzikert in 1071. The Seljuk Sultanate of Rûm ruled Anatolia until the Mongol invasion in 1243, upon which it disintegrated into several small Turkish beyliks.

Despite sustained international pressure, the Kurdish regional government in Iraq held the its first-ever vote on independence. Celebrations took place across the official Kurdish region - away from the central Iraqi government. 32 million Kurdish people occupy a region across Iraq, Turkey, Syria and Iran - but do not have their own country. 6 million of them live Iraq. A fierce war is raging in Syria. A unit of fearless female fighters are battling the world’s most brutal enemy, ISIS. And they’re winning. Deep within Kurdish Syria, the YPJ, made up of local women, are fighting the barbaric terrorist movement. Now, six months after she first met them, Tara Brown returns to the war zone to see firsthand just how these extraordinary female fighters are winning the war. They are brave women who have lost family and friends, but won’t let anything weaken their resolve to defeat ISIS.
The Kurdistan Regional Government in northern Iraq says the date to hold an independence referendum has been set and won't be changed. That was in response to a request by US secretary of state Rex Tillerson to postpone the referendum. During a telephone call on Thursday, Tillerson told Masoud Barzani that he favours dialogue instead, between the Kurdish region and the Iraqi government. The US and other Western nations are worried the vote, could lead to renewed conflict with the Iraqi government in Baghdad and distract the Kurds from fighting ISIL. Turkey, Iran and Syria which also have large Kurdish populations all oppose an independent Kurdish state. So, could this vote lead to an independent Kurdish state? and what will that mean for Iraq and the region? Presenter: Imran Kh...

Iran and Turkey may seem like unlikely partners following events of the past few years, especially in Syria. But they are saying the same thing about the recent 'yes' vote in the Kurdish referendum - neither want Kurdish people living in Northern Iraq to secede. Turkey's President visited Tehran on Wednesday. Iran's Supreme Leader and President welcomed him to discuss curbs on the Kurds' dream of their own homeland. Turkey's threatening to stop buying oil from the Kurdish Regional Government in Iraq, while Iran has mobilised troops on its border with the region. What more can de done, beyond an economic embargo? To the Bat Cave, let's go
We knew this love was just a game
I thought you felt, you felt the same
And now it's time for you to say
That I must go my own way
Now here I am, all alone
Waiting for you by the phone
Cause I can't live without you no more
I only love you and that's for sure
Drop that ghetto blaster
To the Batmobile, let's go
My head is numb, without thought it was
My heart is numb but you thought it did
When I look in the mirror, it just takes place
Cause when I see, I see your face
Now you don't know what's going on
Cause you just think that I've been wrong
But I tell you, babe, what's going on
It is your feeling that's too strong
Think I better let you know
That it's time for you to go
Cause you're gonna break my heart
Think I better let you know
That it's time for you to go
