Delvin Williams

Delvin Williams (born April 17, 1951 in Houston, Texas), is a former professional American football player who was selected by the San Francisco 49ers in the 2nd round of the 1974 NFL Draft. A 6'0", 197-lb. running back from the University of Kansas, Williams played for the 49ers, Miami Dolphins, and Green Bay Packers in eight NFL seasons from 1974 to 1981. A two-time Pro Bowl selection in 1976 and 1978, Williams rushed for over 1,200 yards in both those seasons. On December 8, 1980, Delvin Williams was the 2nd player to be shown with his statistics shown while anchor Howard Cosell was announcing the death of John Lennon. The first announcement is shown also with Patriot's kicker John Smith preparing for a kick. Both players are shown when the tape of the announcement is played on news history programs and anniversaries.

On March 10, 201,5 Delvin Williams launched a global internet sports radio show, LIFE AFTER FOOTBALL on MJWJ Global Radio Network. The one-hour talk show airs every Tuesday at 7:00 PM/CST, broadcasting live from Houston, Texas. It will explore a wide range of topics related to football focused on the athlete often unprepared for life after the sport. LIFE AFTER FOOTBALL will tackle a new topic each week and provide an open format for retired football players to voice opinions. The program offers a unique approach and perspective from a retired players point of view.

Delvin

Delvin (Irish: Dealbhna or Dealbhna Mhór) is a town in County Westmeath, Ireland which is located on the N52 road at a junction with the N51 to Navan. The town is 20 km (12 mi) from Mullingar (along the N52) and is the setting of the book Valley of the Squinting Windows by Delvin native Brinsley MacNamara, described under the fictitious name of "Garradrimna".

The word Delvin comes from Delbhna. That tribe settled in what is present-day Delvin, along with a branch of the Soghain, in Tricha céd na Delbna Móire agus na Sogan.

Delvin Castle and Clonyn Castle

Delvin Castle (or Nugent Castle), now a ruin, was built in 1181 by Hugh de Lacy, Lord of Meath for his brother-in-law, Gilbert de Nugent. De Nugent came to Ireland with de Lacy in 1171 and settled on some land in Delvin. De Nugent was granted the title Baron of Delvin within the Lordship of Meath, a title now held by the Earl of Westmeath. The ruins of Nugent Castle remain near the center of the town. A second castle was built several centuries later, hundreds of metres from the centre of the Delvin settlement of that time.

Delvin Breaux

Delvin Breaux (born October 25, 1989) is an American football cornerback for the New Orleans Saints of the National Football League (NFL). He attended McDonogh 35 High School in New Orleans, Louisiana. He has also been a member of the Louisiana Bayou Vipers, New Orleans VooDoo, and Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

Early years

Breaux fractured his C4, C5 and C6 vertebrae during a kickoff return in a high school football game on October 27, 2006. He had earlier received a scholarship to play football for the LSU Tigers. The Tigers honored his scholarship and he arrived at LSU in December 2008 but was never cleared to play. He was a player-coach for the Tigers. Breaux eventually stopped going to practice and later left LSU.

Professional career

Louisiana Bayou Vipers

Breaux played for the Louisiana Bayou Vipers of the Gridiron Developmental Football League in 2012 and was named an All-Star.

New Orleans VooDoo

Breaux was signed by the New Orleans VooDoo of the Arena Football League on November 5, 2012. He was placed on Other League Exempt by the VooDoo on May 22, 2013.
