Baramulla(ˌbærəˈmʊlə) (Urdu; بارہ مولہ Kashmiri; وُرمول, Punjabi, Pahadi) is a municipality in Baramulla district in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. It is located on the bank of the Jhelum river downstream from Srinagar (the state capital). The city was earlier known as Varahamula (Sanskrit for "boar's molar").
The name Baramulla is derived from the Sanskrit Varahamula (वराहमूल), a combination of Varaha (boar) and Mul (root or deep). According to Hindu teachings, the Kashmir Valley was once a lake known as Satisaras (Parvati's Lake in Sanskrit). Ancient Hindu texts relate that the lake was occupied by the demon Jalodbhava ("originated from water") until Lord Vishnu assumed the form of a boar and struck the mountain at Varahamula, creating an opening for the water to flow out.
The city of Baramulla was founded by Raja Bhimsina in 2306 BCE. A number of visitors have travelled to Baramulla, including Xuanzang from China and a British historian named Moorcraft. Mughal emperors were fascinated with Baramulla. Gateway of the Kashmir Valley, Baramulla was a way station during their visits to the valley. In 1508 CE Emperor Akbar, who entered the valley via Pakhil, spent several days at Baramulla; according to Tarikh-e-Hassan, the city was decorated during Akbar's stay. Emperor Jahangir stayed at Baramulla during his visit to Kashmir in 1620.
Jammu and Kashmir (i/ˈdʒæmuː ənd ˌkæʃˈmɪər, ˈdʒʌ-, ˈkæʃmɪər/) is a state in northern India. It is located mostly in the Himalayan mountains, and shares a border with the states of Himachal Pradesh and Punjab to the south. Jammu and Kashmir has an international border with China in the north and east, and the Line of Control separates it from the Pakistan-controlled territories of Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan in the west and northwest respectively. The state has special autonomy under Article 370 of the Constitution of India.
A part of the erstwhile Princely State of Kashmir and Jammu, the region is the subject of a territorial conflict among China, India and Pakistan. The western districts of the former princely state known as Azad Kashmir and the northern territories known as Gilgit-Baltistan have been under Pakistani control since 1947. The Aksai Chin region in the east, bordering Tibet, has been under Chinese control since 1962.
Jammu and Kashmir consists of three regions: Jammu, the Kashmir Valley and Ladakh. Srinagar is the summer capital, and Jammu is the winter capital. The Kashmir valley is famous for its beautiful mountainous landscape, and Jammu's numerous shrines attract tens of thousands of Hindu pilgrims every year. Ladakh, also known as "Little Tibet", is renowned for its remote mountain beauty and Buddhist culture.
Kashmir (Kashmiri: كشهير kaśhīr, Urdu, Shina: کشمیر kaśmīr, कश्मीर, Hindi) is a geographical region in the north-west of the Indian subcontinent. Until the mid-19th century, the term Kashmir geographically denoted only the valley between the Great Himalayas and the Pir Panjal mountain range. Today, it denotes a larger area that includes the Indian administered territories of Jammu and Kashmir (which consists of Jammu, the Kashmir Valley, and Ladakh), the Pakistan administered territories of Azad Kashmir and Gilgit–Baltistan, and the Chinese-administered regions of Aksai Chin and the Trans-Karakoram Tract.
Although Jammu is part of the disputed Kashmir region, it is not geographically part of the Kashmir valley nor the Ladakh region. The Jammu Division is inhabited by the Dogra people who are historically, culturally, linguistically, and geographically connected with the Punjab region and the Pahari regions of the former Punjab Hills States that now comprise the state of Himachal Pradesh.
Security Forces is an umbrella term frequently used to describe statutory organisations with military, paramilitary, or internal security mandates. In the legal context of several nations, the term has variously denoted police and military units working in concert, or the predominant role of non-conventional agencies (such as gendarmerie) in the external and internal provision of public security.
Examples of formally designated security forces include:

I met this Italian girl in Delhi when she was about to start her India trip. She spoke of starting from the top ie Kashmir but had been warned by other people not to go because "there are muslims there" and "there is conflict". We ended up becoming good friends and at the end of my trip I invited her to come see Kashmir and stay with my family. This is her journey. Fakeer Gujri is a beautiful little village located near Harwan area of srinagar. We started our trek from Dhara with our goal of reaching the 'maidaan' (meadow) that we had heard about. Locals told us it is a one hour trek and off we went. We had underestimated the terrain and the hot weater didn't help, so it took us about 3 hours to get to the top. But getting to the top was really an achievement and the views were breathtaking. On our way back we explored the cherry-blossom covered Fakeer Gujri village and met it's warm residents. This was a great day spent in the lap of mother nature, away from the hustle bustle of Srinagar city. I hope you enjoy the video. Travelling through the roads of Srinagar - Jammu & Kashmir..... Srinagar is the summer capital of the Indian State of Jammu and Kashmir. It is situated in the Kashmir Valley and lies on the banks of the Jhelum River, a tributary of the Indus. The city is famous for its gardens, lakes and houseboats. It is also known for traditional Kashmiri handicrafts and dry fruits. Etymologically Srinagar is composed of two Sanskrit words, śrī (Lakshmi) and nagar, which means "city". One theory of the origin of the name is that a Pandava King Ashok (not to be confused with the Mauryan Emperor Ashok) built the city of Srinagari (Srinagar).Another theory is that Mauryan Emperor Ashoka founded the original city of Srinagar, then situated on the site of the present village of Pandrethan, 5 km to the north...

The Karakoram Highway (KKH) runs from Kashgar in Western China to Islamabad in Pakistan, and isn't so much a highway as a 'high road'. It took a stunning 20 years to finish the road, and even today it continues to suffer from extreme weather and environmental disasters. The KKH runs through the highest concentration of soaring mountain peaks and raging rivers in the world, and is generally considered to be among the most spectacular areas on our planet. Traveling here isn't for the faint hearted, although transportation has improved significantly in the past decades. In October 2010 I had the chance to travel the Karakoram Highway. Although Pakistan had suffered its worst floods in recent history the same year, most parts of the road were still intact. Nevertheless, traveling the road p...
