UNDP concluded 16 days of activism in support of the UN Secretary General’s UNiTE to End Violence against Women Campaign under the overarching theme “Leave No One Behind: End Violence against Women and Girls” to underscore the importance of speaking up, taking actions and using existing national laws and mechanisms to prevent violence against women and girls.

UNDP Tajikistan organized a series of awareness raising events in Dushanbe jointly with the Tajik-Russian Slavonic University and in several districts jointly with local Hukumats, Department of Women and Family Affairs, Department of Youth and Sports and AIDS Centers to call for action, advocate for fundamental human rights, promote full use of national legislative mechanisms to be adopted to prevent and fight against violence.

16 - day campaign events attended more than 3000 people, comprising women, youth, beneficiaries and partners and were held in the format of ‘Open Lectures’ and followed by a stage performance and/or interactive show, covering issues of domestic violence and prevention mechanisms, capturing situations from the lives of ordinary people who face social problems, including violence against women/girls, negative effects and influences of labour migration, especially for young adults and their families.
