Latour is a surname, and may refer to:
"People Are Still Having Sex" is a song written and recorded by American musician LaTour. It was released in April 1991 as the first single from his self-titled debut album LaTour (1991). The song reached number one on both the U.S. and Canadian dance charts. It also peaked at number 35 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 15 in the United Kingdom.
The song features a monologue expounding the narrator's observations that "people everywhere" are "still having sex;" no matter how authority figures such as parents and counselors try, and despite the risk posed by AIDS, "nothing seems to stop them."
The song is built around an instrumental background and also includes a male voice speaking various lines. An audio sample of a woman saying "Hello, lover" is taken from the 1987 horror film Evil Dead II.
The song features animation and features various animated backgrounds, some of which relate to the song's topic. The video was conceived by H-Gun, creator of early videos by Nine Inch Nails and Ministry. LaTour's live face is seen at the left of the screen during his speaking parts, while animation occupies the rest of the screen.
Bruno Latour (French: [latuʁ]; born 22 June 1947) is a French philosopher, anthropologist and sociologist of science. He is especially known for his work in the field of Science and Technology Studies (STS). After teaching at the École des Mines de Paris (Centre de Sociologie de l'Innovation) from 1982 to 2006, he is now Professor at Sciences Po Paris (2006), where he is the scientific director of the Sciences Po Medialab. He is also a Centennial Professor at the London School of Economics.
Latour is best known for his books We Have Never Been Modern (1991; English translation, 1993), Laboratory Life (with Steve Woolgar, 1979) and Science in Action (1987). Although his studies of scientific practice were at one time associated with social constructionist approaches to the philosophy of science, Latour has diverged significantly from such approaches. He is best known for withdrawing from the subjective/objective division and re-developing the approach to work in practice. Along with Michel Callon and John Law, Latour is one of the primary developers of actor–network theory (ANT), a constructionist approach influenced by the ethnomethodology of Harold Garfinkel, the generative semiotics of Algirdas Julius Greimas, and (more recently) the sociology of Émile Durkheim's rival Gabriel Tarde.
The Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard, located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and now a division of Harvard University, carries on many of the research and professional development programs that Radcliffe College pioneered and has introduced other programs to the worldwide community of scholars. It is one of the nine member institutions of the Some Institutes for Advanced Study consortium.
The Institute studies the arts, humanities, sciences, and social sciences, comprising three programs:
Château Latour is a French wine estate, rated as a First Growth under the 1855 Bordeaux Classification, owned by Groupe Artemis. Latour lies at the very southeastern tip of the commune of Pauillac in the Médoc region to the north-west of Bordeaux, at its border with Saint-Julien, and only a few hundred metres from the banks of the Gironde estuary.
The estate produces three red wines in all. In addition to its Grand vin, Latour has also produced the second wine Les Forts de Latour since 1966, and a third wine, simply named Pauillac, has been released every year since 1990. An impériale (six-litre bottle) of Château Latour sold for £135,000 in 2011.
The site has been occupied since at least 1331 when Tor à Saint-Lambert was built by Gaucelme de Castillon, and the estate dating to at least 1378. A garrison fort was built 300 metres from the estuary to guard against attack during the Hundred Years' War. The tower, the name mutating with time to La Tour en Saint-Mambert and Saint-Maubert, gave its name to the estate around the fortress and was in English hands until the Battle of Castillon in 1453, and its complete destruction by the forces of the King of France. The original tower no longer exists, but in the 1620s a circular tower (La Tour de Saint-Lambert) was built on the estate named after Simon Ledwidge and though it is actually designed as a pigeon roost, it remains a strong symbol of the vineyard. Though two centuries apart, this building is said to have been constructed using the original edifice.

The song Blue by LaTour is probably better known from the bathroom club scene in Basic Instinct. In case you're wondering, the first song in that club scene is called "Rave, The Rhythm" by Channel X. A friend of mine tracked this down eventually after the movie came out. Does anyone know what type of techno/electronica this would be considered? Thanks for watching.
Bruno Latour (6:33) speaks about the concept of sovereignty in connection with the work of Ulrich Beck and others and discusses his recent work on the mythological personage of Gaia in the contexts of globalization, climate change, the crisis in the European Union, migration, and other developments. (46:45) Latour’s remarks are followed by a conversation moderated by Homi K. Bhabha, the Anne F. Rothenberg Professor of the Humanities and director of the Mahindra Humanities Center at Harvard. The discussion involves Latour; Diane Davis, the Charles Dyer Norton Professor of Regional Planning and Urbanism and chair of the Department of Urban Planning and Design at the Harvard Graduate School of Design; and Peter Galison RI ’10, the Joseph Pellegrino University Professor and director of the C...

Using constraints in Maya it is possible to create complex animations very easily. By setting up a simple stack of offset objects, you can alter the pivot point of a character to make animating swings and tumbles easy and intuitive. By baking the animation, you are able to easily edit the results. This demo uses Josh Burton's Morpheus Rig.
This is a simple demonstration of how to convert an animated treadmill type walk cycle into something that is moving through world space away from the master animation controller. There are probably easier ways to do this, but this is the method I use. The pull down menu I'm using is Edit>Keys>Bake Simulation side note - a parent constraint will do the same thing as a combined position/orientation constraint, but the the default behavior on a parent constraint is set to "maintain offset" so you'll need to toggle that off if you want to use a parent constraint instead.
The first video in a series explaining how an animator uses basic constraints within Maya for manipulating props and characters.

This interview was made on the occasion of the seminar "What does it mean to bring the fate of the Earth into daily politics?", held at ICCG, on 14th of September 2012. The speaker Bruno Latour, professor at Sciences Po Paris, is considered one the most important philosopher and anthropologist of science and technology.
We had the honor to meet and interview Bruno Latour in February 2015, a French writer and academic in the fields of sociology, philosophy, science and anthropology, invited by SciencesPo Environment Reims.
The Royal Academy Lecture in the Humanities and Social Sciences On Wednesday 26 February 2014, the French Professor in Sociology, Bruno Latour, gave a lecture at the Royal Library, The Black Diamant. The Affects of Capitalism Through the work of science studies applied to the peculiar discipline of economics, a very innovative view of the ways in which the "economic infrastructure" affects people has been proposed. However, it is not always clear in what way it modifies the older ideas of capitalism and the distribution of political positions that have been generated by such concept. The lecture will illustrate this new view by showing the place of Economics in modern anthropology, and which redefinition of politics it entails. Professor of anthropology and President of the Royal Danis...

"Johnny, uh, some kids on the show yesterday mentioned a new kind of music - Ska. You know anything about it?" "Nothing but a modern off-shoot of Reggae, updated by rock influences. Deafeningly upbeat. Can never become really popular because even though they've made the back-beat more conventional, it's still too exotic for man's acceptance."
