Michael Lee
I enlisted March 2003 while still in HS. Actually I sat in MEPS watching shock and awe campaign live on CNN. We were given a option to leave and not sign our contracts. My mind was already made up so I enlisted that same day. Shipped off to basic training at Ft. Sill, OK June - August 2003. Immediately after graduation I flew to Ft. Lee, VA where I trained to become a unit supply specialist. I was assigned to the MD Army National Guard where I attended college and worked at Best Buy while reporting for drill 1 weekend a month 2 weeks a year. In 2005 I was "volunteered" for a 15 month deployment to Iraq driving tractor trailers. Simply the craziest 15 months of my life. Upon returning from the deployment I stayed on active duty working for 205th Infantry Brigade on a training base in Indiana. After I overstayed my welcome I requested to be released so I could go back to college and at least finish my degree. I spent 1 semester in West Virginia and headed back home to DC. I then reclassed to 11B infantryman where I found myself on another deployment back to Iraq in 2009 with the famed 28th ID. I earned my Combat Infantryman Badge in the same year. Came back home and went back to college for the 3rd time. I joined the DC Army National Guard where I reclassed to military policeman and deployed for the 3rd time to Afghanistan from Jan to Oct 2012.
