Police in Beijing are continuing the search for suspects involved in the car crash that killed five people in Tiananmen Square on Monday. Their identities were released to hotels and eight warrants have reportedly been issued.
One theory is the attack was prompted by Muslim separatists from the Xinjiang area bordering Central Asia, which China has accused of fighting for an independent state. Authorities have declined to confirm whether the individuals are Muslim Uighur people. If so, it would the first time they are suspected of a suicide attack, however.
The capital was ringed by checkpoints and traffic jams formed as police checked drivers' documents and searched the trunks of many vehicles with license plates from outside Beijing.
Three people drove an SUV into a crowd in the square, setting it on fire and killing themselves and two tourists.
Security has been even tighter in Tiananmen Square, the very heart of Chinese power, since the incident.

Toting rifles, ten formations of goose-stepping troops marched past the Tian'anmen Rostrum on Thursday morning, rekindling the glorious past of forces led by the Communist Party of China (CPC) in defeating Japanese invaders in World War II.
All the ten formations in the military parade marking the 70th anniversary of the end of WWII were named after the most famous army units of CPC-led forces in the war against Japanese aggression.
The mainstay role of the CPC and its forces is the linchpin in defeating the Japanese militarism, said Gao Yongzhong, a researcher with the Party History Research Center of the CPC Central Committee, citing a conclusion first proposed by CPC wartime leader Mao Zedong.

4,700 Feet above Scarist Glass Walkway Path in Tianmen Mountain, Zhangjiajie, China
It is certainly not a path for the faint-hearted. On one side a sheer rock face, on the other a 4,000 ft drop - and all to separate the brave traveler from a deadly plunge is a 3ft-wide, 2.5in thick walkway. And if that is not enough to bring terror into the pit of your stomach, the path running alongside a Chinese mountainside is made out of glass, allowing a crystal-clear view of where one false step can take you.
So it was perhaps understandable that this woman tackled the walkway by sticking as close to the cliff as possible, feeling her way along with tentative steps.
The skywalk is situated 4,700 ft above sea level on the side of the Tianmen Mountain in Zhangjiajie, China.
The 200ft long bridge joins the west cliff at the Yunmeng Fairy Summit, the summit of Tianmen Mountain and Zhang Jiajie.
And it would appear to be too scary for the cleaners - tourists are asked to put on shoe covers before passing to help keep the path clean. The pathway, built earlier in the summer echoes the glass-bottomed walkway at the Grand Canyon in the U.S.
The 70ft bridge is 4,000ft above the natural wonder and allows tourists to look through 2.5in of crystal-clear glass to the Canyon floor below.
The Tianmen mountain, literally translated as Heavenly Gate Mountain is so called because of a huge natural cave that occurs halfway up to the summit.
Situated in the Hunan Province, Its highest peak is around 5,000ft above sea level and it is home to a wealth of rare species of plants
A four-mile-long cable car was constructed in the park, which is said to be the longest of the same type in the world.
And no matter how terrifying the glass walkway may be - it can only be an improvement from another sky high mountain walkway located in the same province.
The Shifou Mountain, located 82 miles away, offers sightseers a 3ft-wide road made of wooden planks thousands of feet high.
When finished the wooden 'road' - which is the width of a dinner table - will stretch for 1.8miles making it China's longest sightseeing path.

Tiananmen Square
Tiananmen Square is a large city square in the centre of Beijing, China, named after the Tiananmen gate (Gate of Heavenly Peace) located to its North, separating it from the Forbidden City. The square contains the monuments to the heroes of the revolution, the great hall of people, the National Museum of China, and the Chairman Mao Zedong Memorial Hall (with Mao's embalmed body). Mao Zedong proclaimed the founding of the People's Republic in the square on Oct. 1, 1949, an anniversary still observed there. Tiananmen Square is within the top ten largest city squares in the world (440,500 m2 – 880×500 m or 109 acres – 960×550 yd). It has great cultural significance as it was the site of several important events in Chinese history.
Outside China, the square is best known in recent memory as the focal point of the Tiananmen Square protests of 1989, a pro-democracy movement which ended on 4 June 1989 with the declaration of martial law in Beijing by the government and the shooting of several hundred, or possibly thousands, of civilians by soldiers.

Tianmen Mountain
Tianmen Mountain (Chinese: 天门山; pinyin: Tiānmén Shān) is a mountain located within Tianmen Mountain National Park, Zhangjiajie, in northwestern Hunan Province, China.
A cablecar was constructed by the French company Poma from nearby Zhangjiajie railway station to the top of the mountain. Tianmen Mountain Cableway is claimed in tourist publications as the "longest passenger cableway of high mountains in the world", with 98 cars and a total length of 7,455 metres (24,459 ft) and ascent of 1,279 metres (4,196 ft) The highest gradient is an unusual 37 degrees. Tourists can walk on kilometres of paths built onto the cliff face at the top of the mountain, including sections with glass floors. An 11 kilometres (6.8 mi) road with 99 bends also reaches the top of the mountain and takes visitors to Tianmen cave, a natural hole in the mountain of a height of 131.5 metres (431 ft).
A large temple is also located on the summit with chairlift or footpath access. The original temple here was built in the Tang Dynasty. Today a more recent construction with Tang dynasty architecture occupies the site and includes a vegetarian restaurant in the 10000 sq mi of setting.

"Heroic troops" formations march through Tian'anmen Square
Toting rifles, ten formations of goose-stepping troops marched past the Tian'anmen Rostrum on Thursday morning, rekindling the glorious past of forces led by the Communist Party of China (CPC) in defeating Japanese invaders in World War II. All the ten formations in the military parade marking the 70th anniversary of the end of WWII were named after the most famous army units of CPC-led forces in the war against Japanese aggression. The mainstay role of the CPC and its forces is the linchpin in defeating the Japanese militarism, said Gao Yongzhong, a researcher with the Party History Research Center of the CPC Central Committee, citing a conclusion first proposed by CPC wartime leader Mao Zedong.

4,700 Feet above Scarist Glass Walkway Path in Tianmen Mountain, Zhangjiajie, China It is certainly not a path for the faint-hearted. On one side a sheer rock face, on the other a 4,000 ft drop - and all to separate the brave traveler from a deadly plunge is a 3ft-wide, 2.5in thick walkway. And if that is not enough to bring terror into the pit of your stomach, the path running alongside a Chinese mountainside is made out of glass, allowing a crystal-clear view of where one false step can take you. Police in Beijing are continuing the search for suspects involved in the car crash that killed five people in Tiananmen Square on Monday. Their identities were released to hotels and eight warrants have reportedly been issued.
One theory is the attack was prompted by Muslim separatists from the Xinjiang area bordering Central Asia, which China has accused of fighting for an independent state. Authorities have declined to confirm whether the individuals are Muslim Uighur people. If so, it would the first time they are suspected of a suicide attack, however.
The capital was ringed by checkpoints and traffic jams formed as police checked drivers' documents and searched the trunks of many vehicles with license plates from outside Beijing.
Three people drove an SUV into a crowd in the square, setting it on fire and killing themselves and two tourists.
Security has been even tighter in Tiananmen Square, the very heart of Chinese power, since the incident.

On one side a sheer rock face, on the other a 4,000 ft drop - and all to separate the brave traveler from a deadly plunge is a 3ft-wide, 2.5in thick walkway. And if that is not enough to bring terror into the pit of your stomach, the path running alongside a Chinese mountainside is made out of glass, allowing a crystal-clear view of where one false step can take you.

And it would appear to be too scary for the cleaners - tourists are asked to put on shoe covers before passing to help keep the path clean. The pathway, built earlier in the summer echoes the glass-bottomed walkway at the Grand Canyon in the U.S.
The 70ft bridge is 4,000ft above the natural wonder and allows tourists to look through 2.5in of crystal-clear glass to the Canyon floor below.
The Tianmen mountain, literally translated as Heavenly Gate Mountain is so called because of a huge natural cave that occurs halfway up to the summit.
Situated in the Hunan Province, Its highest peak is around 5,000ft above sea level and it is home to a wealth of rare species of plants
A four-mile-long cable car was constructed in the park, which is said to be the longest of the same type in the world.
And no matter how terrifying the glass walkway may be - it can only be an improvement from another sky high mountain walkway located in the same province.
The Shifou Mountain, located 82 miles away, offers sightseers a 3ft-wide road made of wooden planks thousands of feet high.
When finished the wooden 'road' - which is the width of a dinner table - will stretch for 1.8miles making it China's longest sightseeing path.

In part two of my video travel guide to India I travel to Bodhgaya, one of the most sacred places in all of the Buddhist religion. It was at this location 2,500 years ago that a young Prince Siddhartha sat under a fig tree, meditated and found enlightenment, thus becoming the Buddha. I start off by visiting the many temples that have been built by various Buddhists from around the world, including temples dedicated to Buddhists living in China, Japan, Tibet and Nepal. I then visit the Tergar Monastery, one of the largest Buddhist complexes in the region, which is a short walk from the main road. The Imperial City is entered through the Gates of Heavenly Peace.After seven years of construction, Ming Emperor Zhu Di moved into his newly-established palace complex in which over eight thousand people lived in almost a thousand rooms. The palace served as both a residential and governmental seat to the emperors of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. A stone’s throw away from the old Summer Palace is the Garden of Harmonious Unity that was the favourite garden of the Emperor’s household who retreated to its cool lakeside shores during the humid months of summer. Close to Badaling the Great Wall Of China extends majestically across misty mountains. It is the largest Man-made structure in the world and was erected to protect the country from invasion from the North. The gigantic wall represented the division of two very different cultures. On one side the Central Asian Nomads and on the other the highly developed civilisation of the emerging Chinese Empire. Shanghai is a Gigantic City and a meeting point of both east and west. The shoreline is without a doubt the city’s main focal point and is a combination of past, present and future and contains the historic monuments and eye catching buildings of a great city. Famous explorer Marco Polo referred to Suzhou as the ‘Venice of the East’, a city that is particularly famous for its gardens. Many of its extremely elegant buildings are remnants of a glorious past. Yunnan´s most famous site is the unique Stone Forest Of Shi Lin, a forest of rock that extends for 27,000 hectares. Hong Kong is a city of the superlative with glimmering skyscrapers that seem to take root in the sky and one elegant building after another with shining glass and hi-tech facades. Top Things to do in China!
I know that this is long overdue and that I haven't posted a video in a while, but seriously China!! Anyways, this list is less about the top attractions in China and more about the best ones. Moreover, it features the off the beaten path destinations in China as well. So what are the most incredible things to do in China. Here's my take:
10) Changsha and the Mao Zedong Staute (长沙和毛泽东雕像)
This is crazy, in the capital of Hunan Province there's a giant statue of Mao Zedong that looks like something out of Mount Rushmore. Definitely a top thing to see in China.
9) Bifengxia Panda Base (碧峰峡大熊猫保护区)
The Panda Center in Chengdu is a bit over-touristed. That's why it's a great option to head to Bifengxia on the edge of the village of Ya'an, and up to this amazing place to visit in China.
8) Dunhuang Oasis (敦煌绿洲)
Up in Gansu Province there are a lot of amazing places to see! The Dunhuang Desert Oasis is an extension of the Gobi and is unreal!
7) The Westernmost Section of the Great Wall of China in Jiayuguan (对中国的嘉峪关长城的最西端科)
Sure, most people travel China specifically to see the Great Wall. Most head to Beijing. If you want an off-the-beaten-path option than Jiayuguan is perfect.
6) Yangshuo (阳朔)
In Guanxi Province Yangshuo is awesome. Limestone karst landscapes and beautiful river scenes make this an easy addition to the top things to see in China.
5) Mati Si and the Cliff Temples (马蒂思崖寺)
Mati Si is really cool. It's famous for the Buddhist Cliff temples, and they are very cool. Full of grottos and caves, this is a must see in China.
4) Zhangye Rainbow Mountains (张掖彩虹山)
This was probably the #1 thing I was looking forward to in China. However, most people don't even know about it. The Zhangye Rainbow Mountains are unreal, and a worthy addition to a travel itinerary in China that is full of amazing attractions.
3) Shangrila and the Songzanlin Monastery (香格里拉和松赞林寺)
Up on the border of Tibet in Yunan Province, the town of Shangrila is a really interesting visit. Lots of colourful people, interesting architecture, and the amazing Songzanlin Monastery.
2) Dragon's Backbone Rice Terraces (龙的骨干梯田)
Near Guilin, the Drangon's Backbone Rice Terraces are a must-see in China. They were close to ending up as the number one thing to see in China on this list, but even the amazing landscapes of this place couldn't beat out...
1) Zhangjiajie National Forest Park and the Avatar Mountains (张家界国家森林公园和阿凡达山)
Actually, this was fairly easily my #1 Thing to see in China. The avatar mountains in Zhangjiajie National Forest park are crazy cool. The incredible mountains were the inspiration for the movie avatar. You need to see this place with your own eyes!

Top Things to do in China!
I know that this is long overdue and that I haven't posted a video in a while, but seriously China!! Anyways, this list is less about the top attractions in China and more about the best ones. Moreover, it features the off the beaten path destinations in China as well. So what are the most incredible things to do in China. Here's my take:

In part two of my video travel guide to India I travel to Bodhgaya, one of the most sacred places in all of the Buddhist religion. It was at this location 2,500 years ago that a young Prince Siddhartha sat under a fig tree, meditated and found enlightenment, thus becoming the Buddha.
I start off by visiting the many temples that have been built by various Buddhists from around the world, including temples dedicated to Buddhists living in China, Japan, Tibet and Nepal. I then visit the Tergar Monastery, one of the largest Buddhist complexes in the region, which is a short walk from the main road.
I then head to the sacred Mahabodhi Temple complex in the center of town. At sunset it is a scenic, peaceful time to explore the grounds, which include a large monument built at the Bodhi Tree itself, as well as a sprawling garden area where people come from around the world to meditate.

Toting rifles, ten formations of goose-stepping troops marched past the Tian'anmen Rostrum on Thursday morning, rekindling the glorious past of forces led by the Communist Party of China (CPC) in defeating Japanese invaders in World War II. All the ten formations in the military parade marking the 70th anniversary of the end of WWII were named after the most famous army units of CPC-led forces in the war against Japanese aggression. The mainstay role of the CPC and its forces is the linchpin in defeating the Japanese militarism, said Gao Yongzhong, a researcher with the Party History Research Center of the CPC Central Committee, citing a conclusion first proposed by CPC wartime leader Mao Zedong.

4,700 Feet above Scarist Glass Walkway Path in Tianmen Mountain, Zhangjiajie, China It is certainly not a path for the faint-hearted. On one side a sheer rock face, on the other a 4,000 ft drop - and all to separate the brave traveler from a deadly plunge is a 3ft-wide, 2.5in thick walkway. And if that is not enough to bring terror into the pit of your stomach, the path running alongside a Chinese mountainside is made out of glass, allowing a crystal-clear view of where one false step can take you. So it was perhaps understandable that this woman tackled the walkway by sticking as close to the cliff as possible, feeling her way along with tentative steps. Authorities have declined to confirm whether the individuals are Muslim Uighur people. If so, it would the first time they are suspected of a suicide attack, however.
The capital was ringed by checkpoints and traffic jams formed as police checked drivers' documents and searched the trunks of many vehicles with license plates from outside Beijing.
Three people drove an SUV into a crowd in the square, setting it on fire and killing themselves and two tourists.
Security has been even tighter in Tiananmen Square, the very heart of Chinese power, since the incident.

On one side a sheer rock face, on the other a 4,000 ft drop - and all to separate the brave traveler from a deadly plunge is a 3ft-wide, 2.5in thick walkway. And if that is not enough to bring terror into the pit of your stomach, the path running alongside a Chinese mountainside is made out of glass, allowing a crystal-clear view of where one false step can take you.

And it would appear to be too scary for the cleaners - tourists are asked to put on shoe covers before passing to help keep the path clean. The pathway, built earlier in the summer echoes the glass-bottomed walkway at the Grand Canyon in the U.S.
The 70ft bridge is 4,000ft above the natural wonder and allows tourists to look through 2.5in of crystal-clear glass to the Canyon floor below.
The Tianmen mountain, literally translated as Heavenly Gate Mountain is so called because of a huge natural cave that occurs halfway up to the summit.
Situated in the Hunan Province, Its highest peak is around 5,000ft above sea level and it is home to a wealth of rare species of plants
A four-mile-long cable car was constructed in the park, which is said to be the longest of the same type in the world.
And no matter how terrifying the glass walkway may be - it can only be an improvement from another sky high mountain walkway located in the same province.
The Shifou Mountain, located 82 miles away, offers sightseers a 3ft-wide road made of wooden planks thousands of feet high.
When finished the wooden 'road' - which is the width of a dinner table - will stretch for 1.8miles making it China's longest sightseeing path.

Hong Kong & Macau Trip 2016 Part 4
Lynn, Andrew and I were able to see the greatness of Hong Kong (HK) in 2016. It was a brilliant trip, and a ton of fun. I cannot wait to go back! We spent the day on Hong Kong Island, if you are not familiar with HK, it is broken up into different parts; such as Kowloon, Hong Kong Island and the New Territories. Even those areas are broken up into smaller segments. An example of that is this movie was made on HK island, and we spent most of the day in the Central district. Left in the wake has been a vague impression of the difficulty of succeeding in China. However, gradual changes in circumstances have started taking place since the latter half of 2014. New dimensions, including liberalization of the market for home-use video game consoles and rise of Chinese- and foreign-made smartphone games, have begun appearing in the Chinese gaming business. Speaking at the panel discussion will be representatives of Japanese firms that are strengthening their advances into the Chinese Gaming Market, and representatives of Chinese gaming firms, who see differences with their Japanese counterparts in the way they do business. Episode 5 - Leisure in China
Leisure in China is a public and massive thing. Whether it's Mahjong tournaments, acrobatics or street dance, everything happens in the central squares in the cities, and preferably with lots of people at the same time. For a talent to risk the leap from the city square to a professional career in the entertainment industry is not all that easy in China. It's a step that requires a great deal of sacrifice. Competition is keen and success is definitely not guaranteed. Ruben dives into the world of acrobatics, where young talents are submitted to a strict training regime, far away from their parents. He meets dancer Bi Gang, who teaches dance to thousands of people in the main square in Chongqing every week, and he visits the Dwarf Empire amusement park, which is run by little people who, in regular Chinese society, did not have any chance of living a normal life, and have created their own community in the park.

China is one of the largest world powers but we can hardly put a face on it yet. Let alone have any idea of how the average Chinese man lives and works, or what his ambitions or fears are. Photographer Ruben Terlou took his camera along the banks of the River Yangtze, talking to the locals about the impact of the economic progress. In a six-episode series, we are taken from Shanghai, the most westernized part of China, to Shangri-La, the most authentic Chinese part, to discover the real China, 40 years after Mao's death.
Episode 5 - Leisure in China
Leisure in China is a public and massive thing. Whether it's Mahjong tournaments, acrobatics or street dance, everything happens in the central squares in the cities, and preferably with lots of people at the same time. For a talent to risk the leap from the city square to a professional career in the entertainment industry is not all that easy in China. It's a step that requires a great deal of sacrifice. Competition is keen and success is definitely not guaranteed. Ruben dives into the world of acrobatics, where young talents are submitted to a strict training regime, far away from their parents. He meets dancer Bi Gang, who teaches dance to thousands of people in the main square in Chongqing every week, and he visits the Dwarf Empire amusement park, which is run by little people who, in regular Chinese society, did not have any chance of living a normal life, and have created their own community in the park.
