Remember, the Flaggers said that it was local Charlottesville officials, and not Heimbach and his fellow white supremacists, who were responsible for what happened at Charlottesville.

It is strange and unnerving to see two very diverse – opposing – aspects of my life come together over something so powerful, yet mundane: Hate.
Long before the Civil War study landed at my hospital bedside, I was a seasoned activist, assisting my uncle with his ADL duties. Together we drove out the Nazis that were to convene in our town, by paying off the convention hall to cancel them at the last minute. It worked. I still remember the head nutcase screaming at us that pounds of pre-ordered pork roasts were going to waste and rot, now that there would be no meeting. He was appealing to the wrong crowd on many counts. We were sued for the rotten roasts, but it was worth it.
Whilst recovering from an illness, a professor friend brought me Civil War fiction to distract me from my self-pity, figuring that a new obsession is the best cure for any ailment of the mind and body. Unfortunately, I set aside the needs my community, as I embraced a new one. I alienated many of my old colleagues, with my seeming disinterest, as they continued to monitor the gathering storm of White Supremacy groups, and I pursued my frivolous hobby.
Abruptly, the chasm in my life’s interests closed as fast as it appeared. Matthew Heimbach’s road show came to town last summer, and when all was said and done, 7 people were stabbed and Heimbach found himself at the top of the local ADL persons of interest list. A new player to them, Heimbach was old hat to me by this point, as I had monitored his rise through the ranks on this very blog. Sometimes accused of “ranting” on the topic of flaggers, heritage groups, and hate makers, Dr. Simpson has found himself on the cutting edge of the genesis of what may be the “4th Klan” (or worse).
So, I find myself re-united with old friends now fighting the same enemy. It is too bad that rather than experiencing a warm fuzzy feeling, it is instead, an ice cold resolve.

“Tear down the rag, put up the flag” with the former referring to the USA flag is remarkably nonsensical, although amusingly if you reverse the flags it becomes rather appropriate.
The only ones “responsible” for what happened– and by “what happened” I mean anything illegal that happened, are those who actually committed the acts, on either side.
