A television/radio/print campaign launched in 1977, "Alcoa Can't Wait" is memorable for its rousing score and images of the innovative products and processes championed by the aluminum giant and cited by Herb Burger, then at the helm of HBM Creamer — the agency that created it — and others in the local ad community. "When I was a tiny kid, 'Alcoa Can't Wait' was everywhere," said Big Science President Jay Green. "The 'Alcoa Can't Wait' campaign demonstrated Alcoa's commitment to innovation and sustainability, and it's still relevant today," noted Lori Lecker, Alcoa senior manager, corporate affairs. "Whether recycling aluminum cans or increasing the aluminum content of automobiles through technological advances, Alcoa's advances improve lives around the world every day." A subcampaign u...

This series of three films produced by ALCOA to educate the public about the aluminum industry focuses on the production of aluminum. The films discus Bauxite mining, refining, smelting, and delivery. The various aspects of the production of aluminum are shown including Bauxite Refining (:09), Smelting of Aluminum (5:30), and Aluminum Fabricating Process (10:10). The Bayer process shown is the principal industrial means of refining bauxite to produce alumina (aluminium oxide). Bauxite, the most important ore of aluminium, contains only 30–54% aluminium oxide, (alumina), Al2O3, the rest being a mixture of silica, various iron oxides, and titanium dioxide. The aluminium oxide must be purified before it can be refined to aluminium metal. Alcoa Corporation (from Aluminum Company of America)...
I'd love to lie and say I don't hate the truth.
But I hate myself for not leaving you.
And they can drag and tow, and I'll cut the line.
And I heal my wounds with whiskey and wine.
Cut deep your words enough to scar.
The thin blood, it rains through my tired heart.
Slipped away the days, stay up all night.
And I heal my wounds with whiskey and wine.
Thin trail of smoke, the grey mist of ash.
The cigarettes they burn away a morning passed.
They can drag and tow, and I'll cut the line.
And I heal my wounds with whiskey and wine.
To bury it all aside with whiskey and wine.
