"The Rockafeller Skank" is a song by English big beat musician and DJ Fatboy Slim. It was a hit single released from the 1998 album You've Come a Long Way, Baby.
The single peaked at number six in the UK Singles Chart in June 1998. The song was the second Fatboy Slim single (after "Praise You") to chart on the US Billboard Hot 100, peaking at number 76.
The song features the repeated line "Right about now, the funk soul brother / Check it out now, the funk soul brother", which is a remixed vocal sample of rapper Lord Finesse on the track "Vinyl Dog Vibe" by Vinyl Dogs, the original line being "Check it out right about now, it's no other than the funk soul brother, the Lord Finesse".
The song also features four other samples, including a sample of the song "Sliced Tomatoes" by the band Just Brothers (a popular Northern Soul track), Bobby Fuller's "I Fought the Law (and the Law Won)", and a sample of "Beat Girl" by John Barry and his Orchestra. A guitar line from the song "Peter Gunn" by Art of Noise featuring Duane Eddy is also sampled.
Norman Quentin Cook (born Quentin Leo Cook on 31 July 1963), also known by his stage name Fatboy Slim, is an English DJ, musician and record producer/mixer.
As a solo electronic act, he has won ten MTV Video Music Awards and two Brit Awards. His records as Fatboy Slim also helped to popularise the big beat genre, which achieved mainstream popularity in the 1990s.
Cook first rose to fame in the 1980s as the bassist of the indie rock band The Housemartins who scored a UK number-one single with their a capella cover of Isley-Jasper-Isley's "Caravan of Love". After the band split, Cook formed Beats International whose début album spawned their signature hit, "Dub Be Good to Me" which was another UK number-one as well as going on to become the seventh best-selling single of 1990 in the UK. Cook then went on to join numerous other acts including Freak Power, Pizzaman and The Mighty Dub Katz to moderate success.
Cook adopted the Fatboy Slim moniker in 1996 and released Better Living Through Chemistry to critical acclaim. Follow-ups You've Come a Long Way, Baby and Halfway Between the Gutter and the Stars, as well as their associated singles, including "The Rockafeller Skank", "Praise You", "Right Here Right Now", and "Weapon of Choice", were also met with positive reviews and commercial success.
Mecca And The Soul Brother is the critically acclaimed 1992 debut album from the Mount Vernon duo, Pete Rock & CL Smooth. The album contains their best known song, "They Reminisce Over You (T.R.O.Y.)." Mecca And The Soul Brother has been widely acclaimed as one of the greatest hip hop albums of all time. The album was mostly produced by Pete Rock and Executive Produced by DJ Eddie F of Heavy D & The Boyz (co-group member with Trouble T-Roy).
Mecca And The Soul Brother followed on the heels of the duo's EP; All Souled Out, released in 1991. Despite being a critical success, it had little commercial success in comparison to other noteworthy releases of 1992, such as Dr. Dre's The Chronic. The first single, "They Reminisce Over You (T.R.O.Y.)", a dedication to their deceased friend; Trouble T Roy (a dance member of Heavy D. & The Boyz), has gone on to become not only their signature hit, but also one of hip hop's most highly regarded songs.
Other topics on the album range from life in the ghetto ("Ghettos of the Mind"), the teachings of the Nation of Islam ("Anger in the Nation"), bootlegging ("Straighten It Out"), and love ("Lots of Lovin'").

This version is 75.5 minutes long. Use it to fix shit parties, or when you really need to annoy your neighbours. Message me if you need an MP3/FLAC/WAV. Burn a CD of it and leave it on repeat when you go on holiday. No-one will break in since they'll assume you've gone completely insane.

Producing under the alias Hawke for more than 25 years, Gavin's Hardkiss Music record label and collective went a long way toward defining California's underground dance scene during the early 90s. Influenced as much by psychedelic funk and 80s New Romantic music as House or Techno, the Hardkiss sound made Dance music inclusive and accessible to all. The compilation of Hardkiss Music's early vinyl releases,'Delusions Of Granduer,' became a cult underground classic (and quite possibly one of the most stolen and pirated dance records of all time). Fatboy Slim Old School Bouncy Hour (12-31-1998), this is a classic Norman cook set from back in the day, he did a noisy and bouncy hour set list. Here is the bouncy hour. -Video Upload powered by https://www.TunesToTube.com
The virtuoso untold impresario of sound
Composed from within enclosed now unfolds
Toes tap as a reaction, adapting to pattern of rhythm
Diggin' what the soul brother givin' 'em
Let your mind connect to the injection in your ears
The architects flex on his set skills of inner depth with no slack
Observe a brother's essence who in fact been in existence before rap
The soul brother for years officially instilling original
Fulfillin' rhythmical joints to listen to
Non individual abettor assisting whomsoever
Clever, wack this brother? Never
Bodies sway when he plays, since the days of way back
Still today he'll lay tracks that's fat when weighed in, chill
Soul brother on this number
Give 'em a taste, hit 'em and lace 'em with the rhythm
(Soul brother's on the scene)
Soul brother, we combine a rocket for your mind
One time, a true mastermind
(Soul brother's on the scene)
The soul brother, one of a kind, no other
Genuine, out of line, keepin' the rhythm on time
Soul brother, no other keeps you movin'
Groovin' to a tune there ain't a sound more soothin'
Oozin' over vibin' he's supplyin', find him chart climbing
Proving two men who ain't losin' the game
Instead sustain, endeavour, whenever we're together
Soul flows till tunes close sever
Recognize the steel as concealed thoughts unveil
Then reveal what you feel from within, peel
KCB is who this, new to this is ludicrous
I'm true to this game, insane
Who is the brother of soul, solely?
No, in reality many be being, though no one and only
Bodies sway when he plays, since the days of way back still
Today he'll lay tracks that's fat when weighed in, chill
Soul brother on this number
Give 'em a taste, hit 'em and lace 'em with the rhythm
(Soul brother's on the scene)
Soul brother, we combine a rocket for your mind
One time, a true mastermind
(Soul brother's on the scene)
The soul brother, one of a kind, no other
Genuine, out of line, keepin' the rhythm on time
The innovator, creator of audio gold
Kept on your toes by what he has composed
Talent exposed, technics co-ordinated with precision
Catering to whatever flavor you're listenin' to
Bodies sway since the days of way back still
Today he'll lay tracks that's fat when weighed in, chill
Soul brother on this number
Give 'em a taste, hit 'em and lace 'em with the rhythm
(Soul brother's on the scene)
