Heliography (in French, héliographie) is the photographic process invented by Joseph Nicéphore Niépce around 1822, which he used to make the earliest known surviving photograph from nature, View from the Window at Le Gras (1826 or 1827). The process used Bitumen of Judea, a naturally occurring asphalt, as a coating on glass or metal. It hardened in proportion to its exposure to light. When the plate was washed with oil of lavender, only the hardened areas remained.
The word has also been used to refer to other phenomena: for description of the sun (cf. geography), for photography in general, for signalling by heliograph (a device less commonly called a heliotrope or helio-telegraph), and for photography of the sun.
The abbreviations héliog. or héliogr., found on old reproductions, may stand for the French word héliogravure, and can then refer to any form of photogravure.
Chris Zabriskie (born March 10, 1982 in Olympia, Washington) is an American composer and musician.
Chris Zabriskie got his musical start in a noise rock duo Struggleburger, but went solo unexpectedly at a show in 2001 when the other members of the band did not show up.
In 2007, Zabriskie recorded We Were Wrong under the name lo-fi is sci-fi with Marc Sirdoreus (better known as Marc with a C). The music video for the first single, "The Script You Wrote is Terrible," won praise for its simple presentation and Zabriskie's deadpan performance.
In 2009, he turned his attention towards instrumental music, first releasing The Dark Glow of the Mountains. The album's stark electronic minimalism was a departure from his previous work. Two more instrumental albums, I Am a Man Who Will Fight for Your Honor and Preludes followed in the same year. He continues to release new ambient music on a regular basis.
Zabriskie self-releases his albums on his website and is also a vocal supporter of BitTorrent and file sharing, and has said that he leaks his own records to various torrent sites in advance of their release dates. As of March 2009, Zabriskie offers free downloads of all of his music on his website. In 2011, Zabriskie joined WMFU's Free Music Archive and changed the Creative Commons license on his music to be much more permissive and open.
Mark V or Mark 5 can specifically refer to:
World War I (WWI or WW1), also known as the First World War, or the Great War, was a global war centred in Europe that began on 28 July 1914 and lasted until 11 November 1918. More than 70 million military personnel, including 60 million Europeans, were mobilised in one of the largest wars in history. Over 9 million combatants and 7 million civilians died as a result of the war (including the victims of a number of genocides), a casualty rate exacerbated by the belligerents' technological and industrial sophistication, and the tactical stalemate caused by trench warfare, a grueling form of warfare in which the defender held the advantage. It was one of the deadliest conflicts in history, and paved the way for major political changes, including revolutions in many of the nations involved.
The war drew in all the world's economic great powers, assembled in two opposing alliances: the Allies (based on the Triple Entente of the United Kingdom/British Empire, France and the Russian Empire) versus the Central Powers of Germany and Austria-Hungary. Although Italy was a member of the Triple Alliance alongside Germany and Austria-Hungary, it did not join the Central Powers, as Austria-Hungary had taken the offensive, against the terms of the alliance. These alliances were reorganised and expanded as more nations entered the war: Italy, Japan and the United States joined the Allies, while the Ottoman Empire and Bulgaria joined the Central Powers.
The first photograph ever is a heliograph made by Nicéphor Niépce in 1825 of a rooftop in France. Its an extremely early example and the oldest surviving object in the history of photography. Despite my close relationship with this photograph, I have never actually seen it in person - until now. Come along to Austin Texas and see the earliest surviving photograph in history. The Heliograph is basically a mirror that uses the light from the sun to flash a message across a distance, often using morse code. They were widely used in the 19th and early 20th centuries for military and also for surveying purposes. Advanced models came with a tripod. Signals could routinely be sent over distances of 30 miles or more. The equipment was light and did not need any electrical power. However anyone in or near the line of sight could potentially read the message! Although they are no longer in common use, they are frequently supplied as part of emergency survival kits, allowing the user to signal to a distant ship or airplane. This 4 inch metal Heliograph is light and strong, and being made of metal will not easily break. Apart from being useful in emergencies, the ...
“I envision a day when a child's first memory with a Magnifying Glass in the Sunshine is one of Heightened Creative Potential." -Michael George Papadakis Maybe Heliography isn't the answer, but it's a start. Maybe it's the beginning of establishing a much needed focal point for all persons to settle their indifferences. I see this practice being a mediator and between Nations, a universal language between dialects, and most importantly, this practice teaches Respect, Patience and Wisdom for all that the Sun provides to us. This is a short "fly-around" of a British WWII Mance Mark V heliograph set up in the "duplex" (two mirror) configuration. The heliograph signaled long distances using reflected sunlight and Morse code. It was used by many nations from the 1870s to the 1940s. The Wikipedia article "Heliograph" is a good summary. The references to that article provide information in much greater depth. Today I signaled 22 miles, which is short range for this heliograph. My receiver today used his naked eye. Military heliograph teams used 30x telescopes as standard issue. Mance began his publicity campaign for his heliograph in London in 1875, and it was issued to British and Commonwealth troops until the end of WWII. The messages were transmitted by Morse Code created by briefly tilting the mirror to interru...

The first commercially successful photographic process was announced in 1839, the result of over a decade of experimentation by Louis Daguerre and Nicéphore Niépce. Unfortunately, Niépce died before the daguerreotype process was realized, and is best known for his invention of the heliograph, the process by which the “first photograph” was made in 1826. Daguerreotypes are sharply defined, highly reflective, one-of-a-kind photographs on silver-coated copper plates, usually packaged behind glass and kept in protective cases. The daguerreotype process is demonstrated in this chapter. This project is made possible by a grant from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services, grant number MA-10-13-0194.
This rather unique Heliograph Demonstration is presented by VMARS Member Chris Suslowicz and was recorded at Bletchley Park's Armed Forces Weekend, July 2010.

A heliograph (Greek: Ἥλιος helios, meaning "sun", and γραφειν graphein, meaning "write") is a wireless solar telegraph that signals by flashes of sunlight (generally using Morse code) reflected by a mirror. The flashes are produced by momentarily pivoting the mirror, or by interrupting the beam with a shutter. The heliograph was a simple but effective instrument for instantaneous optical communication over long distances during the late 19th and early 20th century. Its main uses were military, survey and forest protection work. Heliographs were standard issue in the British and Australian armies until the 1960s, and were used by the Pakistani army as late as 1975. This video is targeted to blind users. We met this amazing man on the waterfront of Victoria BC. He was using a magnifying lens to burn designs into his guitar. We stopped to talk with him about his art and it turns out he's a wise soul with some wisdom to share. He made each girl a custom piece of driftwood and burned their name burned in it right in front of us. Watch this inspiring video and learn a thing or two from the "obsessive compulsive pyromaniac ".

Mama nu m-a dat de mic la scoala
Am mai stat acasa inc-un an.
Am luat cu mine o chitara
Si-am plecat in lume far-un ban.
Nimeni n-a stiut de-atunci de mine.
Nici eu n-am mai vrut sa stiu de ei.
Daca mi-a fost rau sau mi-a fost bine
Judeci tu acuma daca vrei.
Vreau o minune!
Vreau o minune in viata mea!
Vreau o minune!
Sa mai pot schimba ceva!
Vreau o minune!
Sa fiu din nou copil acum as vrea!
Prietenii mi-au zis sa vin acasa,
Sa-ncerc sa fac ceva cu viata mea.
N-am ascultat de nimeni.
Nu-mi pasa!
Si mi-am urmat in lume calea mea.
Anii au trecut pe langa mine,
Si nu-mi aduc aminte ce-a fost rau.
Am nevoie acum de-o minune,
Sa fiu din nou asa cum am fost eu.
Vreau o minune!
Vreau o minune in viata mea!
Vreau o minune!
Sa mai pot schimba ceva!
Vreau o minune!
