The South Bay is a region of the southwest peninsula of Los Angeles County, California, United States. The name stems from its geographic features stretching along the southern shores of Santa Monica Bay (covering the coastal regions on Los Angeles County south of LAX) which forms its western border. A more restrictive definition of the South Bay includes only the Beach Cities (Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach), El Segundo, the Palos Verdes Peninsula, Hawthorne, Gardena, Carson, Lawndale, Harbor City, Torrance and Long Beach. This definition is more commonly found near the ocean, while not as accepted in the inland portions of the South Bay. The region is bordered on the north by the Westside, on the northeast by South Los Angeles, on the east by the Gateway Cities, and on the south and west by the Pacific Ocean.

It wasn't too long ago that riding on a pontoon boat was considered decidedly uncool by people who worry about those sorts of things, but we’re pretty sure even the tragically hip would love to shoot a selfie aboard the South Bay 925 Super Sport. Everything about this package screams attitude, from the twin Mercury Verado 300 outboards to the wakesports tower that looks like it’s fiberglass but is actually powder-coated aluminum with a dash of sparkle for a little extra flash. The tower can be folded down for storage and has LED lights for nighttime ambiance. Some outboard-powered pontoons lack swim platform space, but the 925 actually has a large fiberglass one that’s padded for good looks and added comfort. To accommodate boaters who like a lower tow point, our test boat came with a ski tow arch between the engines and a stainless steel boarding ladder. There’s a wide, comfortable stern bench seat, and a fiberglass bow section gives it an aggressive silhouette.

We got to learn tons of new tricks at Tempest South Bay Academy, but the best part was being able to hang out with Jesse La Flair and learn from him! South is a noun, adjective, or adverb indicating direction or geography. It is one of the four cardinal directions or compass points. South is the polar opposite of north and is perpendicular to east and west.
Etymology
The word south comes from Old English sūþ, from earlier Proto-Germanic *sunþaz ("south"), possibly related to the same Proto-Indo-European root that the word sun derived from.
Navigation
By convention, the bottom side of a map is south, although reversed maps exist that defy this convention. To go south using a compass for navigation, set a bearing or azimuth of 180°. Alternatively, in the Northern Hemisphere outside the tropics, the Sun will be roughly in the south at midday.
South Pole
True south is the direction towards the southern end of the axis about which the earth rotates, called the South Pole. The South Pole is located in Antarctica. Magnetic south is the direction towards the south magnetic pole, some distance away from the south geographic pole.
Roald Amundsen, from Norway, was the first to reach the South Pole, on 14 December 1911, after Ernest Shackleton from the UK was forced to turn back some distance short.

Los Angeles (

Los Angeles was incorporated as a municipality on April 4, 1850, five months before California achieved statehood. The city experienced rapid growth with the discovery of oil.

Carlos recalls opening the gym for the first Saturday class and seeing Games Director Dave Castro in attendance. As he turned to the board to write the workout and calm his nerves, Dan Bailey entered through another door. The impromptu visits proved to be auspicious for the gym, which, on its one-year anniversary, is living up to its name; “Fortius,” Latin for “stronger,” has been an apt descriptor for members’ physical gains and the growing sense of community. Bringing CrossFit to South Bay, San Diego
Carlos and Alejandra Lopez took a leap of faith when they opened CrossFit Fortius South in San Diego, California. Real estate agents warned that the area was already saturated with CrossFit, but the Lopez family had to do something with the 30-40 people who kept coming to their garage to train. Carlos recalls opening the gym for the first Saturday class and seeing Games Director Dave Castro in attendance. As he turned to the board to write the workout and calm his nerves, Dan Bailey entered through another door. The impromptu visits proved to be auspicious for the gym, which, on its one-year anniversary, is living up to its name; “Fortius,” Latin for “stronger,” has been an apt descriptor for members’ physical gains and the growing sense of community. It wasn't too long ago that riding on a pontoon boat was considered decidedly uncool by people who worry about those sorts of things, but we’re pretty sure even the tragically hip would love to shoot a selfie aboard the South Bay 925 Super Sport. Everything about this package screams attitude, from the twin Mercury Verado 300 outboards to the wakesports tower that looks like it’s fiberglass but is actually powder-coated aluminum with a dash of sparkle for a little extra flash. The tower can be folded down for storage and has LED lights for nighttime ambiance. Some outboard-powered pontoons lack swim platform space, but the 925 actually has a large fiberglass one that’s padded for good looks and added comfort. To accommodate boaters who like a lower tow point, our test boat came with a ski tow arch between the engines and a stainless steel boarding ladder. There’s a wide, comfortable stern bench seat, and a fiberglass bow section gives it an aggressive silhouette.

Bringing CrossFit to South Bay, San Diego
Carlos and Alejandra Lopez took a leap of faith when they opened CrossFit Fortius South in San Diego, California. Real estate agents warned that the area was already saturated with CrossFit, but the Lopez family had to do something with the 30-40 people who kept coming to their garage to train. Carlos recalls opening the gym for the first Saturday class and seeing Games Director Dave Castro in attendance. As he turned to the board to write the workout and calm his nerves, Dan Bailey entered through another door. The impromptu visits proved to be auspicious for the gym, which, on its one-year anniversary, is living up to its name; “Fortius,” Latin for “stronger,” has been an apt descriptor for members’ physical gains and the growing sense of community. It wasn't too long ago that riding on a pontoon boat was considered decidedly uncool by people who worry about those sorts of things, but we’re pretty sure even the tragically hip would love to shoot a selfie aboard the South Bay 925 Super Sport. Everything about this package screams attitude, from the twin Mercury Verado 300 outboards to the wakesports tower that looks like it’s fiberglass but is actually powder-coated aluminum with a dash of sparkle for a little extra flash. The tower can be folded down for storage and has LED lights for nighttime ambiance. Some outboard-powered pontoons lack swim platform space, but the 925 actually has a large fiberglass one that’s padded for good looks and added comfort. To accommodate boaters who like a lower tow point, our test boat came with a ski tow arch between the engines and a stainless steel boarding ladder. There’s a wide, comfortable stern bench seat, and a fiberglass bow section gives it an aggressive silhouette.

Real estate agents warned that the area was already saturated with CrossFit, but the Lopez family had to do something with the 30-40 people who kept coming to their garage to train.
Carlos recalls opening the gym for the first Saturday class and seeing Games Director Dave Castro in attendance. As he turned to the board to write the workout and calm his nerves, Dan Bailey entered through another door.
The impromptu visits proved to be auspicious for the gym, which, on its one-year anniversary, is living up to its name; “Fortius,” Latin for “stronger,” has been an apt descriptor for members’ physical gains and the growing sense of community.
Castro thinks the community at Fortius South will continue to grow because of Carlos and Alejandra’s ability to make “everyone feel included, like they’re part of a family.”
“These guys are all in,” Castro says.

South Bay Tour - Return to the USA - LylesBrother
During my week in Los Angeles I took a full day to visit the South Bay region which consists of several beach cities from Santa Monica to Palos Verdes. I did this in order to drop by Maker Studios which is located near Venice Beach as well as to tour the communities of Redondo Beach and Torrance where I am hoping to move my family in the next few years. I'd spent several years living in this area during my pre-teen years and I had many fond memories and thought it might be a good place to resettle. The video below records my experiences as a toured the area to record video which I would edit and share with my wife and daughter. THE PATH OF WILDNESS
The Path of Wildness is easy to find
The course of a stream
Leaves blown in the wind
A beast's track through the brush
And the direction of our first inclination
The Path of Wildness is an answer and response to a prescribed way of life which may leave some individuals with a sense that their living is little more than a series of pre-determined, step-like episodes between birth and death. The stages of living between these events: childhood, adolescence, adulthood, parenthood and senior are themselves natural and in accord with the needs of the species and most individuals. Many find their satisfaction in living this course and to these individuals I have little or nothing to say. Others though long for something more; something innate, genetic and seemingly calling. Adventure and change can give a degree of satisfaction and relief yet even these may seem too tame. To those who feel drawn to something beyond the entertainment and stimulation of senses I offer a walk along The Path of Wildness. Don't bother penciling the event in your schedule, preparing a pack with goodies and supplies or even inviting a friend along, for this experience is along the course of your first inclination and you must surely always go alone.

The stages of living between these events: childhood, adolescence, adulthood, parenthood and senior are themselves natural and in accord with the needs of the species and most individuals. Many find their satisfaction in living this course and to these individuals I have little or nothing to say. Others though long for something more; something innate, genetic and seemingly calling. Adventure and change can give a degree of satisfaction and relief yet even these may seem too tame. To those who feel drawn to something beyond the entertainment and stimulation of senses I offer a walk along The Path of Wildness. Don't bother penciling the event in your schedule, preparing a pack with goodies and supplies or even inviting a friend along, for this experience is along the course of your first inclination and you must surely always go alone.
