Interview with anarchists from Den Haag (Netherlands)

Monday, January 2nd, 2017

From AvalancheA conversation with two anarchist comrades from Den Haag, NL, an overview of the context, struggle and projects of a few anarchists from this city. We chose to transcribe this interview in order to better understand the particular path, circumstances and moments of revolt that have composed the experience of these comrades.

Tell me a bit about the city itself…

A – Den Haag is a city of 500 to maybe 600 thousand people, it is both the home to poor neighbourhoods, such as the Schilderswijk, the poorest neighbourhood in the Netherlands, and of the biggest institutions of justice of the European Union. The motto of the city is “Peace and Justice”.
It is the host of some of the most important military, intelligence and justice institutions of the European Union… Europol, international summit centres, international courts, embassies…

B – There is also an international zone, protected by security delta, this is not only for the State but also companies, it attracts companies, capital. This city has all changed in the last 15 years, some- one in charge, from one day to the next, decided to flip the switch… and everything changed, all the dozens of squats were evicted, cleaned up, made the space for its new international role… (more…)

Person arrested on suspicion of spreading Anarchist Wallpaper (Netherlands)

Wednesday, April 27th, 2016

Last Sunday night (April 24th) one person was arrested in The Hague (Netherlands) on suspicion of pasting the Anarchist Wallpaper. He is being charged with instigation against authority, inciting violence and pasting of a poster. On Thursday the person who got arrested will be brought in front of the examining judge, who will decide whether to release him or transfer him to preventive detention.

Last week anarchists spread hundreds of Wallpapers in the neighbourhoods Transvaal and Schilderswijk and other places in the city. The first issue of the Wallpaper is about the uprising last year in the area of the Schilderswijk, where thousands of people rebelled for days against the police and the state after the murder on Mitch Henriquez, who was strangled to death by the police. Henriquez was yet another victim of violence by the racist police force of The Hague. Many months after the uprising the police were still hunting the rebels of last summer.

Now that someone is locked up again and it seems that the prosecution is very eager to keep him as long as possible on the suspicion of spreading a poster, expressing our solidarity is the only thing we can do. Solidarity through action. Below you can download the Anarchist Wallpaper. Print and spread, or express your solidarity in whatever other way.

Download the Anarchist Wallpaper here.

Stop the repression! Solidarity with the prisoners!
Down with the police and the state! Long live anarchy!

Below the main article of the Anarchist Wallpaper:

Down with the cops and the State! Long live the revolt!

On the Schilderswijk revolt

In the summer of 2015 a revolt shook up the Schilderswijk in the Hague. A revolt against the daily repression and racism of the cops. Against the suffocating reality of exploitation and unemployment. A revolt of those who decided to break with the normality of State repression. The tables were turned and the cops were chased off the streets. The murder of Mitch Henriquez, another racist murder by the police, was what sparked the revolt. Let’s not forget, let’s not forgive!

The politicians, media, mosques and all kinds of neighbourhood initiatives depicted the revolt as an everyday riot, as a criminal act of which the perpetrators had to be punished severely. Don’t believe them; those organisations that live off state subsidies, those who want to push forward their own agenda at the costs of the oppressed, those that sell out the oppressed in order to be able to join those in power. That people are oppressed in neighbourhoods like the Schilderswijk is obvious. Not being employed because of your name, or exploited at a meager salary while the bosses, big companies, politicians and banks are only becoming richer.

The scapegoat politics that is integrated in the State is blames people of colour for poverty, housing problems and austerity measures, only to make people distrust each other. But refugees, Moroccan and Surinamese people are not the cause of these problems. The real problem is the State and its politicians that only care for the bosses and big companies, and the police that murders, who wants to protect this at all costs.

The revolt in the summer of 2015 was not an everyday riot. It was a legitimate revolt against everything that oppresses us. It was a revolt against the police that terrorises us on the streets. Against the incessant control of CCTV, ID-checks and the so-called “zero tolerance” policy that we only see in poor neighbourhoods. It was a revolt by a community that refuses to be divided by political games any longer. For years we have been asking for change but no one wanted to listen; the only option left then is to revolt. For our dignity, for our existence.

Those who revolted and refused to bow down to repression are those who have not lost their dignity. It is precisely these people that offer hope for a different, better future. That this summer may be a hot one!

Down with the cops and the State! Long live the revolt! Long live anarchy!

Report from ABC Denver: Repression in Denver (USA)

Thursday, August 13th, 2015

Over the last year there has been a strong resistance to police murder
and terror across the city of Denver. This is only the most recent surge
in resistance to police terror in our city, going back to the loss of
Paul Childs in 2003 or more recently Marvin Booker in 2010.

Denver Police have been systematically targeting and arresting those
actively involved in this organizing. Denver Community Defense
Committee, a group which has organized extensive support for families of
people murdered by police, has five of its seven members under
prosecution or known to be under investigation by the Gang Unit of DPD.
Prominent independent journalists, those with an expansive reach through
social media, have been targeted and arrested while filming the police
in Denver.

Video: Recordando al Companero Urubu (Argentina)

Sunday, June 21st, 2015

(more…)

European Economic Congress in Katowice: full hotels, empty houses – Antiterrorists fighting social change

Katowice. Another day of meetings for the European elites. The subject is TTIP and hundreds of other anti-social programs, forced on people against their will. A group of anarchists and trade unionists who organize Anticongress, together with the people that need a roof above their head, have squatted one of the thousands of empty buildings, which after being ‘cleaned’ of the tenants awaits its demolition and transformation into an office building. On the front wall, a huge banner is hung, saying ‘human capital resists!’. In the newly opened space, the ‘Alternative Economical Forum’ took place. The debates started on a different kind of economic politics, the kind that could reverse the trend of radical accumulation of wealth into the hands of the elites in Europe and the world. (more…)

Anti-police and anti-fascist action reports from Warsaw (Poland)

Warsaw: Demo against police violence

A spontaneous demonstration against police violence took place in Warsaw, Poland, on 19th of March. Protest was direct reaction to events that took place few days earlier in Legionowo, Warsaw suburb: police organised hunt for marihuana users. During the arrest, one of the detainees was basically suffocated by a cop, who was trying to stop him from swallowing a bag of pot.

Death of the detainee caused a few days of intense protest- demo on 19th March was first held in Warsaw. It was a reaction against the police statement, full of lies and manipulations, which blames whole situation on the murdered detainee. This secondary victimization and police attempt to cover-up the whole case was the direct impulse to organise protest in the capital. Protest started in front of Prosecutors Office on Brudnowska street, where going to police station was decided. Police was present from the beginning, and after allowing demonstrators to pass almost 2 km decided to start confrontation: all of the protesters were surrounded, then police started checking IDs of the majority of the protesters. Some people were detained and brought to various police stations. Police called all checked protesters to testify in the following days, as suspected of committing the felony – “participating in illegal assembly”. (more…)

Solidarity with anarchist Dante Cano, arrested at Oakland demo against police violence and murders (USA)

Wednesday, February 25th, 2015

Spread around. Lumpen-proletarian rebel arrested recently in Oakland, CA USA at anti-police demonstration. Squatter and anarchist. Facing serious charges. Help get word out.

Dante Cano is currently being held in Santa Rita jail for participation in a demonstration against police brutality and murder in the Bay Area and across the United States. At the time of his arrest, police in near-by Emervyville had just killed Yuvette Henderson in early February. At the same time, police also had just shot people in San Jose, East Oakland, and also the courts had exonerated the police that shot and killed Alex Nieto in San Francisco. This happened against a back-drop of ongoing police murder and violence across the US as well as a deep and furious revolt in the Bay Area against this murder and repression. (more…)

Fire to the Prisons #12 is Available Now!

PDFhttps://firetotheprisons.org/issues/fttp12.pdf

The new issue of Fire to the Prisons is now completed and available online. Check out the new issue, print your own copies, and view past PDFs at our new website: www.firetotheprisons.org
(NOT TO be confused with .com, which is hosted by unknown sources)

Fire to the Prisons is an insurrectionary periodical. It focuses on promoting a revolutionary solidarity between different struggles, prisoners, and existing social tensions that challenge capitalism and the state.

We made 10,000 copies of this issue because we wanted to get them as far and wide as possible. In order to create a publication for free to comrades and the general discontented public, we have forfeited our traditional magazine form and went with a less costly newspaper. We hope to spread this as far as it can go. A lot of blood, sweat, and tears went into this project and we hope that it shows. (more…)

Comrade killed by police defending the wetland of Testet (ZAD, France)

Tuesday, October 28th, 2014

From rabbleldn, reposted from squat.net and contrainfo:

According to a statement from squatters in the ZAD (occupied “zone to be defended”) of Notre-Dame-des-Landes, during the night between Saturday and Sunday the 26th of October 2014 a protester named Remi was killed in clashes that broke out after a rally against the construction of a dam along the Sivens forest in the wetland of Testet in the Tarn department (southern France).

Around 7000 people gathered in the ZAD (zone to be defended) of Testet, after months of police attacks and destruction of the wetland and habitations of those who defend the area. In the late evening and overnight, dozens of people attacked the forces of order that were protecting the dam construction site. Activists expressed their anger trying to delay the resumption of works, originally scheduled for Monday the 27th of October.

The cops fired rubber bullets (known as flash-balls), distraction devices such as stun hand grenades and fragmentation grenades, and tear gases. According to testimonies of protesters from the Testet wetland area, Remi must have collapsed after being hit with a grenade; then his body was reportedly taken by the repressive forces.

Prefectural authorities stated they did not want to comment on the matter before the official autopsy was made public on Monday. The government has already begun to stigmatize the protesters, in addition to trying to divide them in order to cover up what happened. But they know very well that, whatever they do, this death will have explosive consequences.

Anarchist Stella Antoniou was arrested in Dimitsana, Tripoli, by 'anti-terror' pigs (Greece)

Friday, October 24th, 2014

Update: Stella Antoniou has been set free and the court is transferred until November 6th.

On Wednesday October 23rd , the anarchist Stella Antoniou was arrested in Dimitsana, Tripoli, for “violating” the restrictive conditions which is not true, as Stella has no restriction on going away from Attiki.

Stella contacted some comrades and let them know that despite her denial, 5 cops from the Counter-Terrorism Unit, tried 2 times to take DNA from her. At first, closing her nose so as she opens her mouth and they can take saliva from her with a cotton swab. Then pulling her hair and violently push her and throw her on the ground.

Due to the violent behavior, the comrade has a rupture under her eye and, as a result, she bleeds. This is very dangerous especially for Stella because of the problems she generally has with her eye.

There was a gathering today in the Tripolis court, but the cops didn’t let the solidarians enter the court.

There will be more information soon.
