On Wednesday 6 December, President Trump announced that the US has recognised Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and will move its embassy there, disregarding international law and consensus on the status of the city.
Protests against the decision have occurred across the occupied Palestinian territory. The Palestinian Ministry of Health estimates that 3,431 Palestinians were injured and 11 killed by Israeli security forces across the West Bank and Gaza in the first 10 days of protests alone. The Palestine Red Crescent Society also documented 14 violations against its medical teams.
These casualties are the latest to occur under Israel’s prolonged military occupation, which continues to inhibit the provision of healthcare and endanger the lives and welfare of Palestinians.
We work for the health and dignity of Palestinians living under occupation and as refugees.
We deliver health and medical care to those worst affected and work in partnership with local health providers and hospitals, to address a wide range of health issues and challenges.
