Pleasures

Pleasures (1986) is a two-hour American television film written by Jill Gordon and directed by Sharron Miller. Its cast includes Joanna Cassidy, Barry Bostwick, Linda Purl, Rick Moses and Tracy Nelson.

Plot Summary

Three related women have summer romances in this drama. The first has recently been deserted by her husband. When an old college beau shows up, sparks fly. Meanwhile her sister is wrestling with a rock star. And finally her daughter goes abroad and gets involved with a non-English speaking young man.

Jake Bugg (born Jake Edwin Kennedy Bugg, 28 February 1994) is an English musician, singer, and songwriter. His self-titled debut album, some of which was co-written with songwriter Iain Archer, was released in October 2012 and reached number one on the UK Albums Chart. His second album, Shangri La, was released in November 2013. His main influences are Don McLean, Donovan, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Cash, and the Everly Brothers. In an interview with Absolute Radio in 2014 he also mentioned that the American heavy metal band Metallica was a huge influence to him when he first picked up the guitar as a 12-year-old.

Early life

Jake Bugg was born in Clifton, Nottingham, to musical parents who separated when he was young. His father, whose last name was Bugg, was a nurse, and his mother worked in sales, both having previously made recordings. He grew up in the Clifton council estate of Nottingham and started playing guitar at the age of 12 after being introduced to the instrument by his uncle George. He attended Farnborough school technology college in Clifton. He also states that his formative musical moment was hearing Don McLean's "Vincent (Starry, Starry Night)" on an episode of The Simpsons. He was enrolled in a music technology course, but by the age of 16 he had dropped out and was writing and performing his own songs influenced by the Beatles, Johnny Cash, Don McLean, Donovan, the Everly Brothers and Jimi Hendrix.

Still Corners

Still Corners is the London-based musical project of songwriter/producer Greg Hughes and vocalist Tessa Murray.

History

Still Corners self-released their debut EP, Remember Pepper?, on 13 June 2008, followed by a 7" single, "Don't Fall in Love", released by UK label The Great Pop Supplement on 30 August 2010.

The duo signed with record label Sub Pop in 2011 and issued their first full-length debut, Creatures of an Hour to favourable reviews.

In October 2012, the band released a new single, "Fireflies", which was named "Best New Track" by Pitchfork Media.

In February 2013, Still Corners announced that their second album, Strange Pleasures, would be released on Sub Pop in May 2013. The second single, "Berlin Lovers", received widespread coverage.Strange Pleasures was issued on 7 May.

Joy Division

Joy Division were an English rock band formed in 1976 in Salford, Greater Manchester. Originally named Warsaw, the band consisted of singer Ian Curtis, guitarist and keyboardist Bernard Sumner, bassist Peter Hook, and drummer Stephen Morris.

Formed by Sumner and Hook after the two attended a Sex Pistols gig, Joy Division moved beyond their punk roots to develop a sound and style that made them one of the pioneers of the post-punk movement. Their self-released 1978 debut EP, An Ideal for Living, drew the attention of the Manchester television personality Tony Wilson, who signed the group to his independent label, Factory Records. Joy Division's debut album, Unknown Pleasures, recorded with producer Martin Hannett, was released in 1979 to critical acclaim. As the band's popularity grew, Curtis, who suffered from personal problems that included severe depression, a failing marriage, and epilepsy, found it increasingly difficult to perform at live concerts, during which he occasionally collapsed into seizures.
