    Awful news. She was an incredible human rights advocate. I always followed her work from afar but more recently her work came into a closer orbit once she took up the position of Special Rapporteur on human rights in . May she RIP.

    Canada's govt should've sought extradition of Ayatollah Shahroudi last month to answer for killing of Zahra Kazemi, an Iranian-Canadian who died on Shahroudi's watch in 2003. But they didn't. They must make a better decision here by demanding an investigation.

    Sometimes there's good reason to be wary of "solidarity" w/ women's rights that take a reductionist view of the agency of those they claim to be championing (arguably, FEMEN). This is not one of those times. on what global solidarity with women means right now.
