Greatest book store in all the world. If I couldn’t find it- The Strand had it. It became a thing... why go anywhere else, just go to The Strand! Spent much of my young adult life perusing in there. Thank you Fred Bass for your passion & dedication. RIP

My experience at the Strand was always, I'd never find the single thing I went there to find, but came away with five other things I'd forgotten I'd always wanted.

Or things you never knew you wanted

I visited the Strand at least once a week as a student at Stuyvesant High School more than 50 years ago. It was an important part of my real education and pleasure. Thank you.

Loved internationally - as regular visitors from Scotland, Strand on 12th St is our first port of call on every visit to NYC. My 9 year old son joined me for the first time in 2017 and is also hooked. Long live the much loved
