I cannot believe Al Franken had to resign over a joke? People cannot even take a joke these days? His apology was heartfelt, enough for him to resign why cannot people learn to forgive and to forget? But the president on the other hand gets to be president? Why?

Wayyyyy before he had a glimmer of running for a public office I’m so disappointed in the Dems, yet wtf about #45
-
I agree it’s upsetting that he’s leaving but if we want to hold republicans accountable, there cannot be a double standard. Even if it was done as a joke, it’s still an invasion of privacy and must be taken seriously
-
1) The GOP does not care about ethics or double standards. At all. 2) The correct thing to do would have been holding an open, public ethics investigation to show how allegations of misconduct should be handled. Franken falling on his sword did more harm than good.
-
I’m just saying that we shouldn’t stoop to GOP’s level. He did something wrong and he should pay for it. Donald trump should too. Al Franken is the bigger man and owned up to his mistakes and I respect that
-
We don't know that he actually did anything wrong. We didn't get testimony from any witnesses, and some of the accusations were absurd. In making him pay for something we didn't verify, we lost the high ground. In addition to the other points, now Dems look hysterical.
-
I’m talking solely about the picture that was taken that Bill Maher is mocking here. That was wrong and an invasion of privacy. I understand it was taken well before his political career began, but that’s not something the Democratic Party represents
-
She says she was asleep. He says he remembers it being staged. Had there been an investigation, the other people on the plane would have been asked for testimony under oath. Either way, he isn't actually touching her. Immature? Yes. Assault? No.

why is it chill to make a joke out of this lol
-
Because it IS a joke!

Franken’s victim didn’t find it funny, meaning it’s not funny. We need to stand up to “jokes” that encourage a rape culture.
-
It's never been established that there was an actual victim. The first accuser was far from credible and I don't ever remember hearing from any of the other 'supposed' victims. It's just a joke gone bad.
-
The Women in the Frankin photo was the victim. There is the photo. And beyond the photo, why is she not credible? She felt victimized by the photo and this photo makes light of that. Period end of story. Being a comedian doesn’t make it ok
-
She dated Hannity. Was coached by Stone. Waited how long to bring this public? And don’t compare it to women who waited to come out about being raped or molested. Not even close.

Jokes about sexual misconduct are: easy, not funny, offensive.
-
I am definitely NOT offended.

Am not offended it is funny

Some need a sense of humor in these soap opera-like days. Laughter is the best medicine.
