RENEE'S BIO:
Upon hearing of the situation in Southeast Asia, Komar & Melamid began their first collaboration with an African elephant, Renee, at the Toledo Zoo in Ohio in 1995. It was here that Komar & Melamid first developed their method of teaching elephants to paint. After working with elephants in the States, Komar & Melamid then introduced the idea of teaching elephants how to paint to Asia and two years later founded the Asian Elephant Art & Conservation Project.

These landmark works done by one of the pioneering elephants in her field have finally been made available to the masses. The wondrously talented and spontaneous Renee, who has come to be known as the "godmother" of the elephant art movement, worked with Komar & Melamid to create this exquisite work of art. With these originals, the AEACP hopes to ensure that the precious early years of Elephant Art are never forgotten.
