In considering whether family violence should be treated as a crime, I’m going to be slightly provocative and suggest that if this means taking a traditional ‘law and order’ approach, family violence shouldn’t be treated as a crime. Continue reading

Flemington & Kensington CLC takes out 2014 Tim McCoy Award

Flemington & Kensington Community Legal Centre has taken out the prestigious 2014 Tim McCoy Award for its work redressing police violence – in particular in the case of Corinna Horvath, which this year was subject to a UN Human Rights Committee complaint in which Ms Horvath was represented by the centre.
