Mandurah man charged with murder of 19yo woman

A 26-year-old man has been charged with murder after a young woman was found dead inside a Mandurah home on New Year's Eve.

A major police investigation was launched following the discovery of the 19-year-old woman's body at a residence on Aldgate Street at around 4pm on Sunday.

The street was cordoned off while detectives and forensics officers scoured the scene, and an investigation ran until the early hours of the morning.

Police charged the man with murder on Monday morning, and revealed he was known to the woman.

A WA Police spokesman said investigations were ongoing.

"A 26-year-old man from Mandurah, who was 25-years-old at the time of the alleged incident, has been charged with murder," he said.

"He was refused bail."

The man is due to appear in Perth Magistrate's Court on Monday.
