Rafael Hernández (October 24, 1892 – December 11, 1965), was one of the most important composers of Puerto Rican popular music during the 20th century.
Hernández (birth name: Rafael Hernández Marín) was born in the town of Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, into a poor family. As a child, he learned the craft of cigar making, from which he made a modest living. He also grew to love music and asked his parents to permit him to become a full-time music student. When he was 12 years old, Hernández studied music in San Juan, under the guidance of music professors Jose Ruellan Lequenica and Jesús Figueroa. He learned to play many musical instruments, among them the clarinet, tuba, violin, piano and guitar. However, according to many Puerto Rican music historians, it was when he learned how to write music that his life and the history of Puerto Rican music would change forever. At the age of 14, he played for the Cocolia Orquestra. Hernández moved to San Juan where he played for the municipal orchestra under the director Manuel Tizol.

The negative effects of fire include water contamination, soil erosion, atmospheric pollution and hazard to human and animal life.

There are also many pieces by little known [nobodies] who are fantastic piano soloists, admired mainly by their YouTube fans. I am looking for videos of Bill Pursell, Felix Slatkin, George Shearing, John Arpin, Norm Geller, Norman Percival, and Gordon Franks. I would be amiss if I didnt have the greats Del Wood and JoAnn Castle on my page, however, they are only favorited, and not in the playlists. As much as I admire their talent, its a far cry from the romantic style Im after.

Naohiro Iwai (geboren 1923) voltooide in 1947 zijn studie aan de muziekafdeling van de Ongaku-school (tegenwoordig Geijyutu-universiteit) in Tokio. Daarna specialiseerde hij zich verder in de jazzmuziek en deed hij veel ervaring op bij verschillende bands. Hij was leider van het Anny-Pile-orkest en werkte als arrangeur bij de City Slickers van Franky Sakai. In 1959 trad Naohiro Iwai als vaste arrangeur in dienst van de Japanse platenfirma Toshiba-EMI. Zijn oeuvre omvat inmiddels meer dan vijfduizend bewerkingen, waaronder muziek voor blaasorkest en veel educatief materiaal. Hij schrijft in zowel klassieke als populaire stijl. Door zijn bijzondere interesse voor schoolorkesten is Naohiro Iwai in Japan veel onderweg als docent, gastdirigent en jurylid. Hernández (birth name: Rafael Hernández Marín) was born in the town of Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, into a poor family. As a child, he learned the craft of cigar making, from which he made a modest living. He also grew to love music and asked his parents to permit him to become a full-time music student. When he was 12 years old, Hernández studied music in San Juan, under the guidance of music professors Jose Ruellan Lequenica and Jesús Figueroa. He learned to play many musical instruments, among them the clarinet, tuba, violin, piano and guitar. However, according to many Puerto Rican music historians, it was when he learned how to write music that his life and the history of Puerto Rican music would change forever. [1] At the age of 14, he played for the Cocolia Orquestra. Hernández moved to San Juan where he played for the municipal orchestra under the director Manuel Tizol. n 1917, Rafael Hernández was working as a musician in North Carolina, when the U.S. entered World War I. The Jazz bandleader James Reese Europe recruited brothers Rafael and Jesús Hernández, and 16 more Puerto Ricans to join the United States Army's Harlem Hell fighters musical band, the Orchestra Europe. He enlisted and was assigned to the U.S. 369th Infantry Regiment (formerly known as the 15th Infantry Regiment, New York National Guard, created in New York City June 2, 1913). The regiment, was nicknamed "The Harlem Hell Fighters" by the Germans, served in France. Hernandez toured Europe with the Orchestra Europe. The 369th was awarded French Croix de Guerre for battlefield gallantry by the President of France.

Este disco, producto de una macro industria casera de muy bajo presupuesto, da vueltas de trompo un martes a las 5 de la madrugada, queriendo cazar conejos un 27 de diciembre después de cuatro cabritos, 2 botellas de vino y un muy buen sabor a noche en los ojos.

Imágenes de relaciones de pareja teñidas por una estética del siglo pasado que durante mucho tiempo se constituyeron en arquetipos del "amor y sus desgracias" entre los mexicanos. En este contexto, producto de la "educación sentimental del mexicano" propiciada por la radio y el cine nacionales de la posguerra, se plantea en una suite de danzas de encuentros y desencuentros amorosos la paulatina intromisión de las catástrofes que nos aquejan en la actualidad: el crecimiento de urbes y violencias que asaltan constantemente nuestra vida (y ahí está diariamente la nota roja para corroborarlo) no tan sólo en lo social colectivo sino, incluso, en el universo individual de nuestra intimidad.

Focusing on the seemingly nonsensical lyrics as well as various interpretations of the song “El Cumbanchero,” by Rafael Hernández Marín, I will point to a narrative in Caribbean music in which burlesquing otherness conceals a subversive message about the notion of “leaving.” This “leaving” doesn’t merely refer to the endless ebb and flow of diasporic life but to dance music’s ability to provide a sonic space where for the duration of a song one can shed one’s given and adopted identities.

La BANDURGA de la Murga de la Estación en el Galpón de la Murga del Monte - Oberá.

LA BANDURGA: una producción musical y teatral de la Murga de la Estación, que interpreta un repertorio de temas latinoamericanos, tradicionales y contemporáneos, con recursos de actuación y coreografías propias. Además de ejecutar instrumentos en vivo y cantar “a capella”, el ritmo y el baile anima la presentación.
El repertorio hilvana líneas temáticas de mano de la figura de un presentador, que repasa temas de la vida cotidiana, del amor y de las modas que nos envuelven; los personajes grupales y solistas escenifican historias y e interpretan un homenje al estilo murguero, de picaresca humorística y de algunas evocaciones. Con canciones adaptadas del carnaval uruguayo, algunas murgas argentinas, canciones populares y otras propias, mezclando como en una varieté, propone un recorrido siempre abierto a nuevas versiones y temas.
La mezcla de banda en vivo, de actuación e interpretación coral y solista, dio el nombre combinado a la propuesta BANDURGA.
Historia del proyecto : a partir de una fiesta interna (2012) un grupo de músicos del grupo, prepararon un repertorio popular para compartir con sus compañeros. Esa propuesta despertó el entusiasmo por ampliarlo, incluir más integrantes del elenco que ejecutan instrumentos, cantan y actúan y el primer repertorio integral se estrenó en carnaval de 2013.
Para la continuidad, se reorientó el popular latinoamericano y se mezclaran con producciones propias del grupo, algunas un mboyeré; pero siempre conservando el característico humor picarezco murguero, con canciones que van desde la compilación de algunos cuplés uruguayos sobre temáticas sociales adaptados, hasta la popular canción de "la pollera colorá" cantada por los varones del grupo y ejecutada en instrumentos por todas las mujeres del elenco.
Hoy, la propuesta sigue creciendo, brindando la posibilidad de que todos los vecinos del elenco afinen sus técnicas de canto popular, en un espacio previo de preparación/iniciación al canto a cargo de los mismos compañeros de la Bandurga, saberes culturales que se pasan de unos a otros y sigue creciendo con nuevas propuestas.
