The match itself has been considered one of the greatest Grand Slam semifinals of all time. Verdasco has also reached the quarterfinals twice at the US Open, in 2009 and 2010, losing to Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal respectively, the latter of whom went on to win the title, and once at the 2013 Wimbledon Championships, where he led eventual champion Andy Murray two sets to love before being defeated in five sets.

Fernando Verdasco (ESP) has one of the most popular forehands in professional tennis. He hits the ball with a straight hitting arm and he's one of the very few who do (Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal come to mind). He can either hit mega - rocket forehands with full speed or play them with a lot of top spin and his entire game plan is built around his forehand. Verdasco's career-high singles ranking is world no. 7 achieved in April 2009. Nando (popular nickname for Fernando) has also aided Spain in winning three Davis Cup titles, winning the deciding match in both 2008 (5 sets vs Jose Acasuso) and 2009 (doubles with Feliciano Lopez against Nicolas Kiefer and Mischa Zverev). His best performance in a Grand Slam was making the semifinals of the 2009 Australian Open, where he lost to compatrio...
Everyone is a fan of big shots, and few players can hit bigger than this man, Fernando Verdasco. He has, without a doubt, got one of the most lethal forehands in the game, and when he decides to pull the trigger, there is absolutely no chance of the ball coming back. The Spaniard, who will play Andy Murray in the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships, was frustrated when being asked again about his compatriot.
I'm not the man from outer space
I'm just a boy without a place it doesn't bother me
I'm going to find me another way
I'm gonna find and count my change and get it on ski
But out on the road
I'm gonna to roll into your own room
And set a bad example for you
That's what you say it's faroutski
So many roads in life to go
They all get me nowhere anyway
Nowhere there's nowhere to go
Yeah, if you wanna break away
If you wanna find a face it's far out
Yeah, I'm a fucking stranger in my house
A fucking in my bed
A fucking in my head
It's far out, yeah
Baby I'm not the type to cry
Baby I'm not so hard to follow
Gonna tell you why slowdown ski
But out on the road
I'm gonna to roll into your own room
And set a bad example for you
That's what you say, it's far out, faroutski
I'm not the boy without a place
