Cancellation Severe Thunderstorm Warning
For people in Hunter, Metropolitan, Illawarra, Central Tablelands, North West Slopes and Plains, Central West Slopes and Plains, South West Slopes, Riverina and Lower Western Forecast Districts.

Weather Situation:
Severe thunderstorms are no longer occurring in NSW and the ACT.
The immediate threat of severe thunderstorms has passed, but the situation will continue to be monitored and further warnings will be issued if necessary.
In the 1 hour to 3:20am this morning 52mm of rainfall was recorded at Burndoo.
In the 1 hour to 4:00pm this afternoon, 35mm of rainfall was recorded at Bylong.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Keep clear of fallen power lines.
* Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.
* Don't walk, ride your bike or drive through flood water.
* For emergency help in floods and storms, ring the SES (NSW and ACT) on 132 500.
Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau's website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 218. The Bureau and State Emergency Service would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.

The hemispheric long wave pattern has remained stable in recent weeks. There are five main troughs. Currently the most significant troughs are near the longitudes of South Africa, the Indian Ocean, eastern Australia, the south Pacific, and South America.
Summary:
Over southern and eastern Australia the cold front events with potential to bring widespread rain are now expected about 16 December to 20 December, 26 December to 30 December, and 4 January to 8 January. Rain events originating in the tropics and moving south are possible about 8 December to 12 December, 12 December to 16 December, and 30 December to 3 January. Over Western Australia the strongest cold fronts should occur about 16 December to 20 December, 28 December to 1 January, and 4 January to 8 January.
