Niall MacGinnis (29 March 1913 – 6 January 1977) was an Irish actor who made 80 screen appearances.
MacGinnis was born in Dublin in 1913. He was educated at Stonyhurst College in England, and studied medicine at Dublin University. He qualified as a house surgeon. During the Second World War, MacGinnis served as surgeon in the Royal Navy.
In 1941, MacGinnis played a German sailor in the British war film 49th Parallel with Laurence Olivier, Leslie Howard, Eric Portman and Raymond Massey. He portrayed Captain MacMorris in Olivier's 1944 version of Henry V and the title character in the 1953 film Martin Luther. In 1957, he played the villainous Julian Karswell opposite American actor Dana Andrews in the British horror film Night of the Demon (released in the United States as Curse of the Demon). He also played Zeus opposite Honor Blackman's Hera in Jason and the Argonauts (1963), played the arch-criminal "A. J. Kent" in an episode of Danger Man (Aka Secret Agent; Destination Danger; John Drake) entitled "Battle of The Cameras" (1964); and had a supporting role in John Huston's film The Kremlin Letter (1969).
Martin Luther (/ˈluːθər/;German: [ˈmaɐ̯tiːn ˈlʊtɐ]; 10 November 1483 – 18 February 1546) was a German professor of theology, composer, priest, former monk and a seminal figure in the Protestant Reformation. Luther came to reject several teachings and practices of the Late Medieval Catholic Church. He strongly disputed the claim that freedom from God's punishment for sin could be purchased with money. He proposed an academic discussion of the power and usefulness of indulgences in his Ninety-Five Theses of 1517. His refusal to retract all of his writings at the demand of Pope Leo X in 1520 and the Holy Roman Emperor Charles V at the Diet of Worms in 1521 resulted in his excommunication by the Pope and condemnation as an outlaw by the Emperor.
Luther taught that salvation and subsequently eternal life is not earned by good deeds but is received only as a free gift of God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ as redeemer from sin. His theology challenged the authority and office of the Pope by teaching that the Bible is the only source of divinely revealed knowledge from God and opposed sacerdotalism by considering all baptized Christians to be a holy priesthood. Those who identify with these, and all of Luther's wider teachings, are called Lutherans even though Luther insisted on Christian or Evangelical as the only acceptable names for individuals who professed Christ.
William Henry Pratt (23 November 1887 – 2 February 1969), better known by his stage name Boris Karloff, was an English actor.
He was widely known for his roles in horror films, particularly for his portrayal of Frankenstein's monster in Frankenstein (1931), Bride of Frankenstein (1935), and Son of Frankenstein (1939), which resulted in his immense popularity. His best-known non-horror role is as the Grinch, as well as the narrator, in the animated television special of Dr. Seuss's How the Grinch Stole Christmas! (1966). He also had a memorable role in the original Scarface (1932). For his contribution to film and television, Boris Karloff was awarded two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
William Pratt was born on 23 November 1887 at 36 Forest Hill Road, Camberwell, London, England. His parents were Edward John Pratt, Jr. and Eliza Sarah Millard. His maternal grandparents were James Millard and Eliza Julia Edwards, a sister of Anna Leonowens (whose tales about life in the royal court of Siam (now Thailand) were the basis of the musical The King and I). The two sisters may have had some Anglo-Indian ancestry.
Nigel Patrick (born Nigel Dennis Patrick Wemyss-Gorman; 2 May 1912 – 21 September 1981) was an English actor and stage director born into a theatrical family.
Patrick was born in London, England, the son of actress Dorothy Turner (d. 1969). He made his professional stage debut in The Life Machine at the Regent Theatre, King's Cross in 1932 following a period in repertory. Thereafter he appeared in many successful plays including the long-running George and Margaret at the Wyndham's Theatre which ran for 799 performances.
His film career was put on hold until after service in World War II during which, as a Lieutenant Colonel in the King's Royal Rifle Corps, he fought in the Middle East, North Africa and Italy.
During the late 1940s and 1950s he became a popular, debonair leading man in British film with notable success in The Sound Barrier (1952), under the direction of David Lean. Exhibitors voted him the seventh most popular British film star with the public in 1952. Patrick later appeared in The League of Gentlemen (1960) and Sapphire (1959), winner of Best British Film at the 1960 BAFTA Film Awards.

In 1517, Pope Leo X (Philip Leaver) tries to bring the church much-needed money by selling indulgences. Outraged, Luther writes down his famous 95 Theses, publicly challenging church dogma.

This is a lengthy clip, and a bit slow, but hey. It was the 50s. This is a really fun conversation between our hero, and the villain of the the original Night of the Demon movie. Yes, the bad guy spends his spare time as a genial man in the country, and entertaining kids. The clip has a decent payoff, at least. And how often will I get to share a bit of a movie where the bad guy actually calls himself Doctor Bobo?!
