A bandstand is a circular or semicircular structure set in a park, garden, pier, or indoor space, designed to accommodate musical bands performing concerts. A simple construction, it both creates an ornamental focal point and also serves acoustic requirements while providing shelter for the changeable weather, if outdoors.
Many bandstands in the United Kingdom originated in the Victorian era as the British brass band movement gained popularity. Smaller bandstands are often not much more than gazebos. Much larger bandstands such as that at the Hollywood Bowl may be called bandshells and usually take a shape similar to a quarter sphere. Though many bandstands fell into disuse and disrepair in the post-war period, the cultural project the Bandstand Marathon has seen bandstands across the U.K utilized for free live concerts since 2008.
The parks where most bandstands are found were created in response to the Industrial Revolution, when local authorities realized worsening conditions in urban areas meant there was an increasing need for green, open spaces where the general public could relax. The first bandstands in Britain were built in the Royal Horticultural Society Gardens, South Kensington in 1861. Bandstands quickly became hugely popular and were considered a necessity in parks by the end of the 19th century.
Laura Ann Osnes (born November 19, 1985) is an American actress and singer known for her work on the Broadway stage. She has played starring roles in Grease as Sandy, South Pacific as Nellie Forbush, Anything Goes as Hope Harcourt, and Bonnie and Clyde as Bonnie Parker, for which she received a Tony Award nomination for Best Actress in a Musical. She also starred in the title role of Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella on Broadway, for which she received a Drama Desk Award and her second Tony Award nomination for Best Actress in a Musical.
Osnes was born in Burnsville, Minnesota, raised in Eagan, Minnesota, a suburb of St. Paul, and is a professed Christian. Her first acting performance was in the second grade, where she played a munchkin in The Wizard of Oz. She attended Eagan High School. Laura attended the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point for one year as a Musical Theatre major, before dropping out to pursue a professional career.
In 2005–2006 she returned to Minneapolis to be a performing apprentice at the Children's Theatre Company, performing in Working, Aladdin Jr., Prom, and Pippi Longstocking. She also played the lead of Sandy in Grease at the nation's largest dinner theatre, the Chanhassen Dinner Theatres, but her run was cut short when she was chosen to compete in the nationally televised Broadway talent competition Grease: You're the One that I Want!.
Corey Cott (born March 30, 1990) is an American stage actor and singer. He is known for his role in Newsies as the leading role Jack Kelly after replacing Jeremy Jordan on September 5, 2012 and closing August 24, 2014, as well as in recent short films.
Hailing from Spring Arbor, Michigan and Chagrin Falls, Ohio, Cott grew up with one of his Newsies co-stars, Ben Fankhauser, performing together in multiple shows, including Les Miserables, Sweeney Todd, Jesus Christ Superstar, Urinetown, and Rent. While attending Carnegie Mellon University, Cott learned that Newsies was looking for a Jack Kelly standby. After auditioning, he was called back the following week and received the job. "It was about being in the right place at the right time" said by Cott. Cott took over from original lead Jeremy Jordan as the principal on September 5, 2012 and continued with the show until closing on August 24, 2014.
Since then, he has appeared as Gaston Lachaille in the musical Gigi alongside Vanessa Hudgens, which opened on April 8, 2015 on Broadway at the Neil Simon Theatre and closed soon after on June 21, 2015.

Frightened Rabbit is a Scottish indie rock band from Selkirk, formed in 2003. The line-up currently consists of Scott Hutchison (vocals, guitar), Grant Hutchison (drums), Billy Kennedy (guitar, bass), Andy Monaghan (guitar, keyboards), and Simon Liddell (guitar). Since 2004 the band has been based in Glasgow.
Initially a solo project for vocalist and guitarist Scott Hutchison, Frightened Rabbit's first studio album, Sing the Greys, was recorded as a duo by Hutchison and his brother Grant, and released on independent label, Hits the Fan, in 2006. The band subsequently signed to Fat Cat Records, in 2007, and became a three-piece with the addition of guitarist Billy Kennedy for its second studio album, The Midnight Organ Fight (2008). The album was released to strongly positive reviews and extensive touring, with guitarist and keyboardist Andy Monaghan joining the band to flesh-out its live performances.
The band's third studio album, The Winter of Mixed Drinks, was released in 2010, with former Make Model guitarist Gordon Skene joining the band for its accompanying tour. Frightened Rabbit signed to Atlantic Records later that year, and issued two EPs, A Frightened Rabbit EP (2011) and State Hospital (2012), before the release of its fourth studio album, Pedestrian Verse in 2013. A critical and commercial success in the UK, the album peaked at number nine on the UK Albums Chart, with additional guitarist Simon Liddell joining the band on its subsequent tour.

Family
A dusty day in this old town
A hazy yellow eye looks down
A buzzing bee's the only lazy sound
I take the grass, he hits the hay
The two of us drift through the day
A butterfly, a sigh, and it's flick away
Know we're lazy, lots of people say so
But one day they're gonna see
We're only doing whatever makes us happy
We're sitting here, me and my mule
We make our own rules, and it's cool
Ooh oh - me and my mule, yeah
I know I'm lazy, lots of people say so
But one day they're gonna see
We're only doing whatever makes us happy
Oh, we're sitting here, me and my mule
We're nobody's fool, and it's cool
I close my eyes, yeah I feel alright
Must be close to 95
I get my shade from a good old hat that's made from
Hide
One more day in God's good sun
We won't move for anyone
Spend our lazy days and ways just turnin' on
I'm looking down, there's my old mule
A stubborn nag, but no, no one's fool
He's my only friend and he's cool
My old mule, oh, nobody's fool
My old mule, oh, nobody's fool
Yeah, my old mule, no-no-no-nobody's fool
My old mule, mmh mmh yeah ....
