The presentation uses actual correspondence written between Sam Miller and his mother Mary Soehnlen while he was incarcerated in 2003. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Olympia Timberland Library.

Stream Bug Spectacular

Treatment Plant Tour & Tinkering Studio

In celebration of World Water Day, we’re offering a behind the scenes tour of the Budd Inlet Treatment Plant. See what happens to the water you send down the drain! Presentation followed by a tour begins at 1 pm. Tour participants must be 10 or older and wear sturdy closed shoes. Throughout the day, think with your hands by constructing and creating design projects sure to inspire budding engineers, inventors, and tinkerers.

Around the Mountain: The Wonderland Trail

It takes 93 miles to get around Mount Rainier on the Wonderland Trail, but we’ll take you around in less than an hour! Learn about the flora, fauna, and wonders of hiking this beautiful route in a presentation at 2 pm. Mountain-themed art and activities available all day.

It’s National Groundwater Awareness Week, spotlighting one of the world’s most important resources. Groundwater is essential to the health of people and the environment, and it’s the source of our drinking water here in Thurston County. Enjoy a variety of groundwater-related activities throughout the day. Build an edible aquifer out of ice cream and cookies 1-3 pm.

Robotics for Kids!

Experience the amazing world of robots! From 11 am – 4 pm, local robotics students lead hands-on activities for all-ages. “Robot Garage” workshops offered by the Museum of Flight at 11 am and 2 pm. These free workshops are for 4th grade and up with no experience required. Participants use robotics kits to explore basic engineering skills, learn robotics history, and discuss cutting edge robots in space. Registration is required for the workshops. Sensory-Friendly Sunday

In partnership with the Hands On Children’s Museum and the Exceptional Families Network, we’re offering a comfortable environment for kids and adults with sensory differences. Visit the Children’s Museum next door 9-11 am. Then 11 am-1 pm, visit the WET Center to enjoy a variety of activities, crafts, hand fidgets, a book nook, quiet spaces for taking a break, and all of our hands-on exhibits. The Exceptional Families Network will also have a resource table.
