In Kosovo, frost threatens an old tradition
The Sharr/Šar mountains in southern Kosovo are known for their high quality produce. Honey is no exception. Beekeepers from this area often file orders for their entire harvest before it even starts. In the autumn and winter months, when warm tea with honey becomes a necessity, this liquid gold turns into even a rarer commodity. Even at 10 to 12 EUR a kilo, chasing after a jar of honey can become a treasure hunt.
United through a Shared Love of Sports
The gymnasium was teeming with excitement as spectators watched Zgjim Gërxhaliu position himself to make the shot that won Prishtina team first place. They had gathered for EURO Street Ball 2017, a street ball tournament that brings together young athletes from municipalities all over Kosovo and other countries in the region.
What we do
This is a critical time for the world. At UNDP, we see this period as a huge opportunity to advance the global sustainable development agenda. Last year, world leaders adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development to continue the work of the Millennium Development Goals. UNDP is working to strengthen new frameworks for development, disaster risk reduction and climate change. We support countries' efforts to achieve the new Sustainable Development Goals, or Global Goals, which will guide global development priorities for the next 15 years.
